Don't buy a large appliance like an Energy Recovery Ventilator from this place. They don't care about the item and packaged it in a flimsy carboard box with very little protection inside. As expected, the 40lbs item was dented and damaged when it arrived. Customer service has yet to get back to me on this, but just judging by how my item was shipped, it's obvious they don't care about their products or customers. Also, I hear they make you pay extra to send stuff back. I'm never going to order from this place again. What a waste of time and money. read more

BUYER BEWARE when ordering from Lighting Supply in Ferndale, MI. I recently ordered clear glass decorative globe light bulbs from Lighting Supply. I was extremely bummed to discover that the voltage/wattage information was printed in a highly visible, very conspicuous place - right on the top of the bulb! All other light bulbs of this type that I've ever purchased or seen have had the voltage/wattage information printed where it can't be seen, around the base of the bulb. That printed information was visible both when the bulbs are lit and unlit. THE PRIMARY PHOTO displayed on their website for this product did NOT show this unfortunate positioning of product information. I suspect they may send incorrect products out willy nilly and then they charge more for the shipping return than the wrong product is worth. The customer service lady is fun too. She wants a model number for something that doesn't have a model number; she wants two different order numbers and numbers you wouldn't have since they sent the wrong one. Excellence in customer service! I placed an order for a full case of Christmas lights. The next day, I received an email indicating that due to demand, there would be a delay in shipping these lights (10-14 business days) and suggested that I call to see if there is a similar product that they may be able to get to me sooner. I called and was immediately connected with Britney. She looked but did not initially see a good alternative, so I decided to cancel the order. Five minutes later, she called me back saying that she was able to locate two different alternatives; one of which ended up working out well. I sincerely appreciate that she took ownership of the issue to try to find a product that would work for my needs. Item costs was $15. Packaging costs was $10, shipping cost was $10. With tax my order came to $40. When my item arrived it was the wrong size. I called same day and asked to return the item. They stated that I had to pay to ship the item back, and it had to be packaged exactly as it arrived. So I have to send back the item, in the packing materials that I paid $10 for which I'm sure will be reused. Pay $10 to ship back. All because the item I received was not as described. So in total I'm paying $50 and have nothing to show for it except a $6 refund. While Lighting Supply takes my item back, reuses the packing materials, and charge someone else 50. Doesn't seem fair or legal. Please beware when purchasing from this company. read more

Another electric supplier referred me here when they did not have the hard-to-find halogen lamp socket that I needed. The staff person I talked to, Brenda, was extremely friendly and extremely helpful. I didn't know what to even call what I was looking for so she let me email her a photograph of it and then online I could look at the two different, similar sockets she found to get an exact match. This all happened about 3:30 one afternoon, and since they had it in stock I was able to get my much needed part In a little over an hour. This lighting supply is tucked away on Northend in Oak Park. They are open to the public and has the best prices around on your lighting needs. They serve a lot of commercial clients. However being open to the public you get the best prices on all kind of light bulbs. I always go here for my florescent bulbs, recessed lamps and those new coiled bulbs that has replaced the old style of light bulbs, the customer service is top notch, no to very little wait and a very knowledgeable staff. I am all bout buying local, yes I could go to home depot and walk a mile from the parking lot and another mile to find light bulbs and then stand in a long line behind some guy with with 40 pieces of knotty wood that the cashier scans one by one, or I can go to the Lighting Supply Company park feet from the door get in and out, support a local small business and get back home! Worst experience ordering from this company. I put in an order a month ago and never got my order. I had to call three different times and was assured each time that my order would be sent out each time on that day of my call. Not the case! My third phone call I did receive a shipment confirmation finally, only to realize they did not enter the my shipment address correctly! I'm not a big one for writing bad reviews, but this was a bad experience. After ordering an LED tube, but still hadn't received it after 10 days, I contacted them and asked where it was. They said it would be another week. It still didn't arrive, and all subsequent emails were ignored, even though I sent to both their general inquiries address AND the customer service rep . I eventually canceled the order, a month after it was originally placed. Still not a word from them. Very, very bad customer service. I guess if you're not a huge corporation, they don't want to know. UPDATE: They did send the tube, but didn't tell me until after I canceled and ordered another from elsewhere. This company is a rip off. They hot me. I ordered an $4.50 item. They first showed to be no shipping cost, but at the end before you complete your transaction, they slip a &27.00 shipping in at the last second . So I paid $34.00 on a $4.50 item. This is total rip off. At that price I should be able to ship it to Antarctica. No I live in Washington state. I know we are up here in the northwest. But come on. I would ask no one ever do business with this company. What are they shipping it via drone. Come on America don't let these companies get away with this crap. You see what happened to United. This is the best place around to find rare bulbs and lighting components. The staff was able to answer all my questions and help me determine what I needed for my garage project. I ended up with a T8HO setup which has turned out to be plenty of light for my garage.
