The service was good but the food is atrocious. I had pork chops and if you took it and chucked it at a window l, itd break. Its that dry and horrid. First of all, this place is in a residential community. You have to get cleared or have to be on some sort of guest list. I felt so guilty for holding up the line bc the gate attendant could not find my party list. This is cumbersome and unnecessary. This highly turned me off. Its a regular lake and can be considered to be a nice setting but the hassle to get in makes it not worth. Even more so, the food is a huge deterrent. There won't be a next time for me. read more

0 Stars. I was served raw chicken covered with Marsala sauce. I didn't know until I cut into it, took a bite, and then looked at it up close. I was ill for days. My cousin ordered barramundi fish and was also extremely ill. When I showed my meal to the manager she said, "Well, they're really busy in the kitchen." Very disappointed. I'll tell you the food is pretty good but I'm getting so sick of service issues. We used to come to the lighthouse consistently on Friday nights because it was close and the food was good. After a certain point the meat quality was a little sketchy for my boyfriend. Seemed like they were serving really fatty cuts. We reported it to the manager and she acted really insulting. After that we started branching out to other places. A few times we have ordered food to go and they sent the salads with no dressings twice. Or forgot things that came with the food. Tonight I walked out of the restaurant and got to the car and realized I forgot my to go box. They threw it away. Hadn't even been 5 minutes. A good considerate restaurant would hold a box for 5-10 min to allow the person who may have forgot to get their food. It was half a meal. And at $25 for my plate that was very DISAPPOINTING and very inconsiderate. I've had it with the service issues. The management needs to go and be replaced with people who are kind, care, take constructive criticism and have policies like not immediately throwing food away. There's a reason people are always complaining about the Light house. As far as favorite dishes I really like the salmon penne and Mediterranean penne. The mahi mahi and barramundi are great. We like the spinach artichoke dip and the lettuce cups although they really should give you 4 instead of 3. Because if you're on a date then it splits evenly. And for $12 come on. The Santa Fe salad dressing is insensible because they pour a whole bottle of cumin in the small amount of dressing. When I do order it I get ranch instead. Doesn't anyone else complain about how much cumin there is in the salad dressing?! I'm so surprised after this whole time they haven't fixed it. We have hosted two major family events (Wedding and Celebration of Life) now at the Lighthouse, and could not be more pleased with the service, atmosphere, food, location and of course the views. Laura and her team are excellent at helping to coordinate and execute large events. It is a great setting and you can feel confident the event will go off as planned. The Lighthouse has undergone renovation and new staff, chef, etc... so we tried this place again thinking that there would be improvements, but - sadly no. Ambiance: this is the ONLY reason there are any stars Service: Lets sum it up by saying, this wait staff is untrained and seemed like they have never attended a dinner in a nice restaurant. No menus when seated, and when we did start our order... we asked for sparkling water, the waitress had no idea what was offered and said "like from the bar?", to which I said, no more like San Pellegrino or Perrier in a bottle; response "oh, we have something in a can", my response "please check it out and let us know". Once she figured that out, 2 un-capped small bottles were delivered to the table with no glasses, ice or citrus. When asking for glassware, it looked like a shock to her. Absolutely no common sense or experience here. Food: We proceeded to order 2 hors d'oeuvres: Reuben sliders ($13) and Risotto bites ($11). When these finally came, the risotto bites were good, but those probably came from Costco. The Reuben sliders were awful in both presentation and taste. The 3" bun was cold and dry, the Reuben serving was the size of a coin and a very tiny dollop of thousand island was pathetic. Needless to say, we did not stay for dinner. The lighthouse is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! We live in Canyon Lake and were very hopeful that this affluent area would buy a clue and get a real chef and train their staff to support this community. The ambiance and prices suggest that this would be a high-end eating experience, but its falling completely flat.... again!! PS - can we all stop using styrofoam?! read more

Laura is an amazing General Manager with true leadership and passion for what she does. My husbands grandma came to visit from Salt Lake City and she came up to our table and was just a true delight to get to know and see her impressive performance. She made us a delicious appetizer called Laura's hot mess and we just felt very lucky to have such service and an experience. Also the new renovations look amazing as I haven't been there in a long time because of some past experiences so this really went above and beyond my expectations and we will be back more frequently to see Laura and her team! Saddens me that even after a few more recent visits to support a local restaurant, I am still receiving such poor quality of food and service here. I was hoping to highlight some positive changes and a return from Covid to encourage my family to return. Photos will show tonight's fish and chips/bites orders vs. what I received at my last visit in May when I ordered fish and chips and really enjoyed it. But this visit, it was something completely different; not only were they strangely uniformed in shape, but they seemed undercooked and smelled extremely fishy. If I'm not mistaken, there shouldn't be too much of an odor? I was hoping to convince my family to try the Lighthouse again because of my visits last few months with breakfast and a friend's birthday dinner in May. Service had been friendly and pleasant. Service is often friendly, just very slow still, and seemed to have improved, but when we called back tonight to ask about the fish, the management was rude on the phone and bragged he sells "100 orders of these a night without complaint" instead of just listening to what we had to say or ask. The pretzel was dry and overcooked and tough to eat. The cheese dipping sauce was runny and watery my son said. Our meal was about $30 and I'd have chalked it up to money spent on a bad meal, but the phone call adds to our frustration. Very disappointed in the customer service we received as well as the dinner I'd been looking forward to. I have tried giving my business here so many times and it pains me to just avoid returning for the food. We've lived in CL for years. The lodge has had its ups and downs as we all know. I must say last night was a great meal and excellent service! We were a large group and not an easy table for the waitstaff I'm sure. Servers were all excellent and the manager even came over to make sure we were happy. Filet medallions were pretty good too! Manager of bar is completely out of line. As a resident of canyon lake it is very frustrating to be embarrassed by our local restaurant in front of visiting out of town friend. This past week an old college friend visited me from out of state only to have the manager of bar come out of nowhere with extreme disrespect and attitude forwards my guest. The manager chose to approach my guest with attitude and strait out start insulting her. Very strange interaction that was not called for. My guest and I both have our degree and careers in hotel & restaurant management and I would never fall to such a lack of professionalism. Everything tasted gross. The pizza was with bad quality ingredients and the dough was just flat bread smeared with ingredients. They probably gave like one piece of pepperoni per slice. The servers were nice. Trust me on this, ask for no ice because the ice is somehow white and plasticy. We were there for an hour and it did not melt. The lighthouse restaurant and lounge is located in a private gated community of Canyon Lake near Lake Elsinore. It is a nice restaurant with beautiful views and good food. You need to know someone that lives inside the community or are attending a special event in order to get past the gated security. Once inside the community, it is located at their main clubhouse which has large and small ballrooms, drink facilities and a full bar and restaurant which is the Lighthouse restaurant and lounge. It is located on the lake so the views are beautiful and if there are water events ( kayak racing, ...) they are all visible from the restaurant. They have daily specials on food and drinks, a standard happy hour menu along with a full regular menu. If you get a chance to make it inside Canyon Lake this is a definite place to see. read more

The margaritas are a disappointment. I hope to see this improve. We dined here after we first moved in, and have visited a few times since. The margaritas have been consistently "ok" . Just not great. Food is good, awesome servers. But even when they asked if my drink was ok, I very carefully stated it was "ok" and tasted like sweet mix out of the bottle. We love going to the bar area for a drink and appetizers (or lunch). Since Tom took over the restaurant management EVERYTHING has gotten so much better! 2 Stars for convenience, 1 for removing Sunday brunch. Biggest mistake this community has made next to going drought tolerant on the latest hideous landscaping throughout the community. I would have preferred they implemented some new fees or regulations in regards to the bottomless champagne before removing this altogether. So many people have expressed how disappointed they are in their choice to remove this luxury. They should have sent a poll to the home owners/posted something in the Friday Flyer to gather real opinions or ideas and feedback before destroying one of the best things this community had to offer. It was a real pleasure to invite family and friends to partake in Sunday's here in the Lake for this regular event. Adjustments certainly could have been made to still be profitable and enjoyable. Huge disappointment and whomever made the final decisions should be removed from the POA. The new menu is mediocre at best and highly resembles Coco's diner menu. Needs MAJOR improvements. read more
