It was clean, spacious and welcoming to a great time together. The location on the island is perfect. A beautiful view of the lake, easy walking distance to the town. We did get passes for the pools at the Crews Nest next door, well worth the extra fee. Walk out the back door of the house and you are practically in the pool! The huge front porch was beyond relaxing and had plenty of comfortable chairs for us all to sit together. I was a little concerned about not have central air, but the units they provide in the house kept it cool in the house. We will be back again, no doubt!

They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, they even changed their own plans as well! As for the house itself, it is something out of a story book! Suzee is an exceptional designer, and the entire house feels lively and comfortable. You truly feel at home. You get the entire upstairs which includes a massive bedroom, a TV room, and a private bathroom. No one bothers you or even checks up on you. You are given the house key, so you are free to come and go as you please. With being only 1 mile from the lake (great for sunsets!), and just minutes from the great local shops and restaurants in Sandusky, OH, the Cottage Rose is the place to stay! (Especially at only $85 a night!).

Heavy rain last night, I am now in a sea of mud, thank goodness that I put everything away last night. The employees are super nice and are trying their best. They are the only reason for the 2 stars. The showers are nice and very clean as well. I hope the owners make some serious improvement. Our group hoped to make this an annual trip for our family reunion but I don't see that working out.

The investment group here hired their retired mother who was an engineer to run the place.... Serious need of proper management and marketing. My wife and I called it quits this year. Cedar Point season passes were cheaper than the seasonal sites that are under powered. Too many broken things. It has potential with proper support.

Tourist attraction…read more This is one of those places that you have to do once just to see it. It's $30 for adults for a 3 attraction pass. You get to pick your adventure. We chose the cave, butterfly house, and mini golf. The great thing about the pass is you don't have to do it all in the same day. You can come back in finish another. The first attraction we visited is the cave. Even though you have a pass you have to exchange it for a ticketed time to go into the cave. They lead tours often so you usually done have to wait long. This is located inside the gift shop. The cave was fun to see on a historical point but the cave itself has not been well preserved. I agree with many other reviews that depending on your guide it can make the experience okay or awesome. Ours was just okay. The butterfly house was our next pick. It is a greenhouse like structure and was filled with hundreds of butterflies. A cool experience if you have never done anything like it before. We cam back the following day to do mini golf. It is open later than the other attractions so you can come back in the evening when it's not busy and enjoy yourself. I loved how each hole had a fact about the war on the water. There is also a free car museum, food stand, and bathrooms available.
