We have never stayed at a B & B. We arrived and Bart the owner gave us a tour and showed us to our…read morerooms. We were with 3 other couples. We unpacked and went right to the deck over looking the lake. Deck is big with 4 tables, a fire pit and lot's of room. Bart took time to tell us all about the area. He gave suggestions for our dinner and then called a local place and got us a private room for dinner. He knew all the best places to go. We had our own coolers stock so we had all of our favorite beverages so we settled in and enjoyed the deck and the lake. Our room had a setting area, a great bed and a wonderful bathroom with a big tub and a shower with a rain head. It was the widest shower head I have ever seen. Great towels and bathrobes. We went to dinner a half mile away and made it back to see a beautiful sunset from the top deck. Yes, 2 decks. The lower deck is ground level and if you are there and so if you want a private place to enjoy the lake go down there. There is also a very large hot tub if you enjoy them. The next morning, we woke to the smell of coffee and went out to the deck and was served a beautiful breakfast by Sandy, Bart's wife and co-owner. If we ever go back to Port Clinton, we will stay there again. My idea of a B & B, have changed. Bart and Sandy were Great Host and Innkeepers. Thanks to them for a great Stay.

Plenty of parking for cars, boat trailers, and golf carts. We were there on a Friday afternoon, so it wasn't super crowded and everyone was kind of spread out across the beach. We saw a blue heron, and my friend fell asleep on her towel. We also went back to hike some of the North Loop trail. A good time was had by all, minus the incident with the poorly behaved off leash golden retriever. There's almost always one of those, though..... Note that the beach is not technically dog friendly, but there were a few there.

Having visited the island several times, it was our first stay at the Victory. Check in was simple and fine. I can't say much about the gentlemen at the Victory since he has zero personality. He just seemed to hate his job. However when making the reservation via phone, the girl in reservations was great. We had a lower level room, which was great. Room was neat, newer and in good condition. Now for the negatives, sorry. Both top mattresses on the double beds in the room were broken. The springs compressed when on them, and popped (you could hear them pop) open when sitting up. The absolute worst two night sleep at a place on the island in years. When addressing this with the "named above gentlemen" he could care less. The conversation was exactly like: "You work here" Him: "depends" Me: "just a FYI, both beds are broke in Room 2". Lastly, if you walked around barefooted on the tile floor or with socks on in the room, your feet were filthy afterwards.

South bass island state park is on the north side of the island. The park consists of a stone beach…read morewith a dock area that is open to the public. You can also fish off the dock. There is a small playground area and the put in bay sign to take pictures in front of. The campground takes up a majority of the park. It has tent spots along the lake and other spots with hook ups for campers. They even have several cabin style houses you can rent by the week. The campground has all the usual amenities of the state parks like shower houses and dump station. The roads are very tight and narrow. It can be difficult to park your camper in some spots so call ahead if unsure. They have a gate code to get into the campground. The shower houses had hot water but did smell funky because of the moisture. For the price though you can't be staying on the island. Easy to get to town on bikes or taking a taxi.

These cabins are authentically rustic, but they have all the amenities you need to prepare hearty, warm meals to share with your family around the table. Sunrises and sunsets are incomparable. Where else can crashing waves be your alarm clock?? This last October, we enjoyed the prettiest island October I can remember. The Kowalski's are a charming, hard-working, humble family. We love and appreciate that they keep they still share this piece of heaven with visitors.
