Even though the place lived up to its advertising as being clean, cozy and comfortable, the male proprietor and a woman who apparently did his gardening or housecleaning were unpleasantly rude. In addition, upon arrival they tried to change the terms of our written rental agreement to their financial benefit. Very sleazy. A cool venue, but if you are foolish enough to do business with this guy forget about customer service and count your fingers after shaking his hand. We absolutely loved it!…read morePrior to booking the bed and breakfast, the two owners (Virgil and Suzee) were great at communicating prices (very low) and accommodations, as well as on point with reminders. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, they even changed their own plans as well! As for the house itself, it is something out of a story book! Suzee is an exceptional designer, and the entire house feels lively and comfortable. You truly feel at home. You get the entire upstairs which includes a massive bedroom, a TV room, and a private bathroom. No one bothers you or even checks up on you. You are given the house key, so you are free to come and go as you please. With being only 1 mile from the lake (great for sunsets!), and just minutes from the great local shops and restaurants in Sandusky, OH, the Cottage Rose is the place to stay! (Especially at only $85 a night!).

The views were amazing from every angle and direction you looked. 2 pools and hot tubs. Indoor pool and outdoor pool. Game room. 4 different places to eat. A few bars. Beach access and activities. I would love to go back for a day and not even go to the park but just enjoy the hotel and its amenities. I do want to point out one thing that was kinda frustrating for us. The guy who checked us in told us that the pools closed at 9 but the hot tubs closed at 11. That didn't make sense to us. So we left the park early so our kids could play in the pool just to find out they're both open until 11. Both pools and both the pools and hot tubs. That caused us to take time away from the park when we didn't actually need to. The park closed at 10. It didn't make sense for the pool to close at 9. It also didn't make sense that the hot tubs which are in the same area would be open until 11 but not the pools. While we only stayed 1 day here, we spent Saturday evening-Monday afternoon at the park. Had we only been there for one day, and been given wrong information about the pool times and left the park early for the pool when we didn't need to, I would have been more frustrated.
