My first day with the keys I realized the kitchen counter was not at all attached to the kitchen counter and there was a leak in the pipes underneath the kitchen sink. After living there for two days the handle to the shower faucet broke off completely - this might not have been something he could've caught but I feel like as an inspector you would typically have a better eye than the average person for things like that. A friend of mine showed me the inspection report this guy performed. He basically said on every…read moreitem: Hire a professional (electrician, plumber, HVAC, roofer, etc.) to come in an evaluate xyz. In no case was there a single actionable item - like outlet wired wrong, or circuits not correctly rated, or furnace looks old., etc. After seeing the report I checked - in OH all you need to do to become an inspector -is open your business. No licensing is required. The umbrella this guy operates under (ASHI) has a course and issues a certificate. Then to keep certification you need 8 hrs per year of on going Continuing Education... ASHI has no way to file a report/complan about an individual inspector... So at least in OH - it is buyer beware.... This "report" was not worth the paper it was written on.
