As products liability attorneys and first time parents to a 6 month old infant, safety is our first priority. We used Jay for our general home and radon inspections and he exceeded our expectations. In addition to an incredibly thorough inspection of our future home, he was more than happy to answer questions and address our concerns. This relationship did not end when the formal inspection was done. Jay made himself available to answer our questions as they came up, well after he had sent his report. General Home Inspection is amazing! Very prompt, knowledgable and professional! I needed a home inspection done ASAP and he made himself available the very next morning on his day off!! He took the time to explain the entire process to me and the importance of the RADON test in addition to the general home inspection! When I finally received the 30 page report I was so impressed with the level of detail and professionalism he put into this. I cannot emphasize enough how pleased I am with General Home Inspection. Jay scheduled my inspection quickly, and had an exceptionally thorough and professional report to me that evening! He spent a great deal of time walking me through the house and explaining his findings, and was very patient with all of my follow-up questions over the next couple of days. His report was well organized and easy to read and share with my contractor. His courteous demeanor put me at ease immediately - he is polite, professional, and direct. I discovered General Home Inspection via a yelp search as I required home inspection services on a property I was interested in. What caught my attention were the 5 stars across both Google/Yelp platforms. I read many of the reviews and decided to give the owner (Jay) a call to inquiry on his pricing and services. I could not have been more pleased with his professionalism, honest work ethic and affortable fees. During the initial call, he explained his detailed process and schooled me on what to look for during this initial phase. After our phone call, I knew he was the person I was interested in hiring for the job. I actually found a cheaper company to perform the services but his dedication was apparent just by the conversation we had. I called to schedule the service; he is one of the best communicators I have worked with in a very long time. Phone calls/emails/text messages.....almost an immediate response from him personally. I received a contract via email and options to pay online which was very convenient for me. The inspection was scheduled and I received the report the same evening (wow). After the report was completed we even had a discussion about the issues noted and he answered all of my questions along the way. If you are looking for a trusted home inspector do not look any further. I highly recommend General Home Inspection and plan on contacting Jay for future needs. Jay did an absolutely outstanding job inspecting a home for my wife and I. He was extremely thorough and FOUND ASBESTOS A PREVIOUS INSPECTOR MISSED right where I was planning on building a workshop. Going with General Home Inspection may have been a literal lifesaver. Besides performing an extremely detailed inspection Jay went above and beyond to provide advice on repairs and dealing with local zoning/renal regulations, both of which he had experience with. Although my wife and may not purchase the home he inspected we will always turn to Jay when purchasing real estate in the Cleveland metropolitan area. read more

It was an absolute pleasure working with Jay. As an investor, I've had multiple home inspections on properties from single family homes to larger commercial properties and Jay is the best I've worked with. He is extremely knowledgable and he explains what he's seeing and whether I should be concerned about it, which was a nice change from the typical inspector who comes in, takes photos, and leaves. Jay B. was wonderful to work with from the moment I called to schedule an inspection! He worked with our schedule right away and was very friendly on the phone and in person. Along with general inspection, he was also able to do a radon and pest inspection. His prices were reasonable and his inspection was very thorough. My husband and I are first-time homebuyers, and Jay took time to point out things that we otherwise wouldn't notice, and gave us advice and suggestions on how to perfect and maintain our home. Within the day he e-mailed us an organized, typed-out report with pictures! Jay was absolutely the best! We needed to get an inspection done asap and he was able to schedule us in easily. He was incredibly thorough and gave us such a detailed report of everything that needs to be done in the home. He included the extent of how imperative a fix was so we know what needs to be done immediately and things to keep in mind over time. He even included pictures in his report so we know what we are looking at and included very detailed descriptions of the problems. He even offered suggestions in the report of how to fix, who to contact, etc. We called multiple inspectors and Jay's prices were better than every other one; he also does everything himself and does not contract out to other companies so we were able to have results to radon and mold quickly. read more

Jay is an amazing home inspector. He replied promptly to our request for an inspection, showed up on time and thoroughly reviewed the home's systems, features, and condition. He was also readily available for follow-up questions. My husband so appreciated the time that Jay took to explain the age of systems, potential issues, and features of the home. As we are purchasing a nearly 100 year old home, we especially appreciated the extensive report with detailed photographs. He provided it in under 24 hours! Absolutely amazing job! I'm always leery of contractors because the job never seems "thorough" enough for the money's worth. Jay is hands down the most thorough, productive, and insightful inspector I've ever worked with. He had a wealth of knowledge about all facets of housing and condos which made the inspection longer but well worth the price. He's also the cheapest guy around which I found ironic. I've paid twice the price for less than half the service. Jay is phenomenal! read more

Jay is great to work with. I am an out of state investor so I was unable to personally inspect two properties in Cleveland. Jay made himself available on a tight deadline and delivered very thorough and detailed reports on both homes. The details were very specific and included clear photos. He was also able to provide context for me, with regard to the condition of the homes as compared to similar properties of the same age in the area. I will happily work with Jay again. read more

After living there for two days the handle to the shower faucet broke off completely - this might not have been something he could've caught but I feel like as an inspector you would typically have a better eye than the average person for things like that. The website was easy to use, you can book online, and you can see the pricing for every item as you're booking so there are no surprises. He even called while I was booking to make sure I didn't have any questions and I actually did so he explained each option on his site and didn't try to sell me any more than what we needed! The pricing was extremely fair and reasonable. I was able to get an appointment with him for the very next morning and you can pay online, with cash, or with a check so lots of convenient options. He showed up early and began by taking pictures of the outside of the house and of the roof (with a drone, so cool and great picture quality!). He gave us an overview of what we could expect and then went over everything as we went through the inspection. He was thorough, professional, and great at explaining everything we needed to know. Later in the day we received the final report that goes over every item and is color coded based on urgency. It also includes a suggestion of who you should contact to fix each item (i.e. electrician, contractor, plumber, DIY, etc). He has a sample report on his website that I would highly recommend taking a look at! Finally, after all was said and done, he sent a follow up email letting us know that we could contact him anytime with questions. Overall we had a fantastic experience with Kurt and I would recommend him to all of my friends and family!

I highly recommend using General Home Inspection to anyone looking for a home inspection. Jay did an extremely thorough job on the inspection of a house we recently purchased. I was very comfortable leaving the inspection that we turned over all of the stones and received a thorough inspection. Before scheduling our inspection with Jay, I called several different certified home inspectors to get quotes from them. Some of these quotes were double the quote Jay had given me for both a general home inspection, radon inspection, and a pest inspection (not an exaggeration, seriously DOUBLE the price). When Jay leaves the inspection itself, the service does not stop there. I contacted Jay after the conclusion of the inspection with follow-up questions and he has taken hours out of his own time to answer questions and give his honest opinions on questions we had. Inspections from General Home Inspection are very reasonably priced and are of very high quality. Jay is a very knowledgeable inspector, will shoot you straight when you ask him a question, is very approachable, and all-in-all a good guy. I will not shop around the next time I need a home inspection, Jay undoubtedly has a repeat customer in us. Stop shopping around - this is your guy. read more

We can't recommend General Home Inspection highly enough! Jay provided important information from our very first phone call and was so accommodating with our hectic schedules. He was very professional, and was extremely thorough in his work with close attention to detail! During the inspection he explained everything as he went along (all while answering our bajillion questions) and provided an organized, detailed report pointing out every finding, no matter how minor! Even my dad, who's a project manager in building was thoroughly impressed. And he was particular in ensuring the radon inspection was performed properly. i used this company (Jay) for three properties in shaker heights and south Euclid that i am in the process of purchasing on 9-10/2018 . i selected Jay after comparing 3-4 other companies , he seemed over the phone honest , with good experience and even sense of humor :), prices were reasonable. i could not see the properties since i live in California and I had to rely on his reports and a contact i had in Cleveland OH. the reports were very detailed with lots of pictures and he also pointed out what is really needed urgent repair and what is not in code . later i got a very good feedback on the quality of the reports from my contact in Cleveland. As a first time home buyer, Jay did a great job taking me and my wife through the home inspection process, thoroughly explaining what we were looking at and why. Jay was referred to me by a trusted friend/co-worker. I work in the mortgage/real estate industry so I see dozens of inspection reports every month. Jay was expert, professional, meticulous. He saved us from purchasing a money pit of a home, he spotted all the flaws that were hidden from our star filled eyes at the right time.
