I highly recommend using General Home Inspection to anyone looking for a home inspection. Jay did an extremely thorough job on the inspection of a house we recently purchased. I was very comfortable leaving the inspection that we turned over all of the stones and received a thorough inspection. Before scheduling our inspection with Jay, I called several different certified home inspectors to get quotes from them. Some of these quotes were double the quote Jay had given me for both a general home inspection, radon inspection, and a pest inspection (not an exaggeration, seriously DOUBLE the price). When Jay leaves the inspection itself, the service does not stop there. I contacted Jay after the conclusion of the inspection with follow-up questions and he has taken hours out of his own time to answer questions and give his honest opinions on questions we had. Inspections from General Home Inspection are very reasonably priced and are of very high quality. Jay is a very knowledgeable inspector, will shoot you straight when you ask him a question, is very approachable, and all-in-all a good guy. I will not shop around the next time I need a home inspection, Jay undoubtedly has a repeat customer in us. Stop shopping around - this is your guy. read more

We can't recommend General Home Inspection highly enough! Jay provided important information from our very first phone call and was so accommodating with our hectic schedules. He was very professional, and was extremely thorough in his work with close attention to detail! During the inspection he explained everything as he went along (all while answering our bajillion questions) and provided an organized, detailed report pointing out every finding, no matter how minor! Even my dad, who's a project manager in building was thoroughly impressed. And he was particular in ensuring the radon inspection was performed properly. Then, he followed-up after the inspection was done to ensure everything was understood. We were on the fence about having a home inspection performed but we're so grateful that we did-we have such a strong sense of security moving into the home we purchased all thanks to his knowledge, recommendations, and expertise. read more

i used this company (Jay) for three properties in shaker heights and south Euclid that i am in the process of purchasing on 9-10/2018 . i selected Jay after comparing 3-4 other companies , he seemed over the phone honest , with good experience and even sense of humor :), prices were reasonable. i could not see the properties since i live in California and I had to rely on his reports and a contact i had in Cleveland OH. the reports were very detailed with lots of pictures and he also pointed out what is really needed urgent repair and what is not in code . later i got a very good feedback on the quality of the reports from my contact in Cleveland. I would definitely use Jay again and will recommend him to others . read more

Could not ask more from Jay and General Home Inspection! As a first time home buyer, Jay did a great job taking me and my wife through the home inspection process, thoroughly explaining what we were looking at and why. Jay came out right away (seriously less than 24 hours between calling him up to doing the inspection) and did a great job inspecting our home. His report detailed all of our discussions we had while doing the inspections and his findings were extremely relevant to our purchase. I cannot say enough good things about Jay and his service and would recommend him to any friend or family member. read more

Jay was referred to me by a trusted friend/co-worker. I work in the mortgage/real estate industry so I see dozens of inspection reports every month. I have to admit- I was blown away with Jay's professionalism! He took his time, escorted me throughout the home, and educated me regarding any present and future issues. Jay also took the time to explain his findings to the seller. Jay was not only quick to schedule the inspection appointment, I had an extremely detailed 27 page report back within 12 hours! Jay was expert, professional, meticulous. He saved us from purchasing a money pit of a home, he spotted all the flaws that were hidden from our star filled eyes at the right time. When we did find the second home that was the right home, his expertise allowed us to know our new home in great detail, even though we walked thru it, he aided us to know the positives as well as the negatives, his gaze missed nothing that should have been seen, we loved the pics as well as the narrative he provided in the report, with his help our house truly became home. Jay was a very thorough and helpful inspector! Not only did he give us a detailed home inspection report but he also gave me a ton of information on things I could work on when I got the house and ways I could go about fixing things. I filled an entire notebook page up with notes following him around the house and listening to what he said, and this is the exact experience I was looking for out of an inspector. Jay also was friendly, personable and easy to get along with. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Jay is amazing. He is the best in the business and absolutely the person you want to have on your side for a home inspection. He was extremely thorough and saved my partner and I from purchasing a home with very dangerous electrical wiring among other structural concerns, which were missed by the city's inspections. Jay is like a detective and won't hesitate to go above and beyond for an inspection. Our family would fly him out anywhere in the country just to get him as the home inspector. read more

Jay just completed an inspection of a Cleveland duplex I am in contract to purchase. Jay did an amazing, through job. His 35 page report was like nothing I have ever seen before. Any issue big or small, Jay will find! He uncovered fire damage hidden under paint, major foundation issues, plumbing problems, you name it! Don't miss out on hiring Jay for your next inspection, you will not be disappointed! read more

Jay has recently done a home inspection on two houses for my partner and I. Luckily, due to his findings, we refrained from moving forward with the first house due to major costly issues. Jay is excellent, he explains things thoroughly and would show us areas of concern in the houses he inspected for us. Would definitely recommend him to others and use again in the future! read more
