It hurts to write this because they used to really care about locals and now just seems to have become very greedy and trying to take advantage of tourists with Magnolia across the street. Their muffins used to be large, moist, and reasonably priced. Now, they are over $6, tiny, tough, and just not good, despite having a decent amount of blueberries, which is awful when I used to LOVE the others. What's worse is that none of the prices were posted, and likely because it would be offensive to charge. Not even Chip and Jo charge that much at a tourist spot and theirs are much bigger. For $13, my specialty latte cost less than a very small muffin, which the guy at the counter (who didn't offer to heat it or anything) tried to explain were that much because they come from a bakery like they didn't always. His tone was condescending, which was off putting when most people would find this change to be insulting to long time customers who expect more from a local place. It's no wonder they were so empty when it used to be packed. Overcharging for this and trying to explain it as a "small business" upcharge is disrespectful to locals and tourists. Plenty of local places have great goods like Street Dog (their muffins are AWESOME and fairly priced). Even Magnolia has products with price tags that are worth the money and service that does not talk down to people when noticing a significant change. I bought it feeling used and never going back. Rather go to a place with no baked goods than one that has lost its way. read more

This spot is one of the only centra Texas places that serves Olympia Coffee! To come from the PNW, it was nice to have a little taste of home with a TX twist. This spot has all types of bourbons and other beverages to pair with your espressos imbibing. The guys who helped us was friendly and talkative about the options. They had plenty of mo. Dairy options including coconut milk chocolate bars. Chill atmosphere and outdoor seating makes this spot a great location to work on a paper or just spend the afternoon. Right across the street from hotel 1928 this place is surrounded by free parking as well! read more

Well, going on 18 hours, and I'm still on a caffeine high! I never before suspected that one cold brew could cause a caffeine overdose, but now I sure do! The coffee was good, but not worth the subsequent dizziness and light-headedness, not to mention my heartbeat going ninety to nothing all night long. Two of my friends also got cold brews and both experienced comparable effects. Sorry, but it will be a while before anyone convinces me to return to Lighthouse for cold brew. All that said, their coffee tastes phenomenal, arguably the best in town. However, nothing could sound more repulsive to me right now than another cup of coffee. I've had several lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, etc. here, and they were all great. I'd advise checking yourself before ordering cold brew, though, at least if you're hoping to sleep sometime in the next 24 hours. read more

Very unwelcoming employees. As a college student, I planned to study for 6 hours at lighthouse coffee. I was told to "buy something or leave" in the harshest tone by an employee Sunday 11/27. Just because I don't purchase a coffee within the first hour of being at lighthouse coffee, does not mean I won't buy one 3 hours into my studying as mid-study energizer. All because I hadn't bought something I was treated very unkindly. If I'm expected to purchase something, an employee should say "Excuse me ma'am, it's policy that our customers buy something to use our space" BEFORE telling me to "buy something or leave". Lighthouse coffee has lost my business. That was the most unwelcoming experience I've had. I bought something AND left because of how unwelcomed I felt. read more

So bright and airy! Natural light for days and a decent amount of seating for being a smaller building. I feel bad for not catching his name but the barista in the Baylor shirt quite literally made my night. He was helpful, so kind and welcoming. When he offered a non-dairy alternative for our lattes he said "would you like plant based milk?" having never heard that before my friend and I were confused but he quickly explained that he does so because he doesn't want people with lactose sensitivities to feel like they're abnormal. SO SWEET! I recommend coming here in the evening hours, getting a sweet glow from some downtown shop lights and feeling like you're in a movie. read more

The coffee is pretty good. It is a bit too acidic for my taste but I still enjoy going there because of the great environment. Everyone is very nice and helpful and I enjoy the simple design of the shop. My only complaint is about the tacos. I ordered one today and when I went to eat it the tortilla was either extremely softened by the heat or wasn't cooked all of the way. It was very dough-like when I went to eat it. The potatoes were also not cooked all of the way through. They were tough in the middle. As I kept peeling back at the food there was a brown/black spot left on the eggs from the potatoes. My husband ended up here by accident and it was fantastic! I was wanting to try a totally different place that was closed. So I was grumpy when I walked in. Neal was so welcoming and to my delight I realized I could mix coffee, mixed drinks and wines! We had in depth conversation on all of it and he was educated, insightful and warm. He took his time to venture through all and many regions. Then he realized our love of pairings and introduced us to their events they do. Some of the most reasonably priced events I have seen! I've stopped in here a couple of times to study and find it to usually be pretty quiet with very few distractions and it's very quickly becoming my favorite place to study. I've had the cold brew both times and it's really good and I'd highly recommend it especially when that Texas sun rears it's ugly head. The staff is also super friendly and helpful too. The only con is that the WiFi can be painfully slow at times, but from my understanding there is only one provider available the area and so I cant really fault them for that. read more

My favorite coffee and cocktail place!! I highly recommend their daiquiri shaken instead of over the rocks, the margarita with tejin on the rim, vanilla lattes, and coffee. Their drinks are amazing because they weigh the proportions. It's the first and only place I can get iced vanilla oat lattes without it being too syrupy or watery. The workers really know their product, the differences between coffees, how each alcohol is different, and pay attention to flavor undertones. They also have tacos which are a nice treat for breakfast. They are extremely dog friendly inside, great working/meeting environment, amazing staff, and great community. I've brought my dog inside to study with me and it's great. They give him water, love him, and he gets to just plop over on his side next to me. They are also pairing with the humane society for an event morning of June 5th to have dogs from the shelter come. The workers are super sweet and considerate. This is my first time here. The first thing I noticed was the shop had a lot of light. It faces the streets, so you could look out from every angle in the shop. I bought the chai with oat milk. I would not recommend it if you like your chai super strong and flavorful. The neutral colors and the soft music is perfect for studying. I have been needing to go to a coffee shop where it is quiet.
