Extremely chaotic and overburdened office. One very rude staff member made me feel very unheard and…read moreill at ease. Will never go back there again! Front desk staff made me wait 20 minutes even though I had booked an appointment. Several people who were booked in to appointments after me were attended to very quickly as were several walk in patients. No reasonable explanation given. Rudely told to wait as others were attended to first. Asked for blood to be taken from back of my hand as I had done in the recent past in the same office (it is easier and causes less pain that way). The angry staff member raised her voice at me and said it was impossible to do for scientific reasons. A form of medical gaslighting. I was almost in tears. Wanted to request another staff person but felt too intimidated. If they are feeling stressed they should take a break, not be abusive to members of the public. And lying to patients is just a sign of an insane, unstable clinic staff.

I've been to so many LifeLabs, I've lost count. But BY FAR, this is the absolute best site, hands…read moredown. Here are the reasons: -efficiency. They are appointment-based only. No walk-ins. So you are assured a spot and a time, with minimal waiting. -large and bright office, and impeccably clean. -FREE WI-FI. (This is a real rarity at other lab sites). -more services are offered here than at many other LifeLab sites. Examples: EKG's, cardiac holder monitors, etc. -Professionalism of staff. A female checked me in (I didn't get her name) and although she was somewhat aloof, she was thorough and organized and I had zero wait time. My tech was Ian and he was phenomenal. I have had to get cardiac monitors and EKG's frequently and he was the most thorough when it came to instructions and, wow, they even provide you with a mesh "vest" over the monitor (I never got that before, and it made a huge difference in comfort level and stability). And even upon returning the following day, the staff here remembered me and the whole "disconnect and drop-off" experience was, dare I say, pleasant. My experiences at this site were unlike any I've had at other LifeLabs, and this will be the only site I go to from here on in, for sure.

The only gripe I have this time is that the nurse I had today. Most of the time when I did my usual blood & urine test, especially last time I was there, my nurses tend to usually be very nice, polite and had a decent bedside manner. But this time, the nurse i gotten, I started getting this offensive vibe from her, especially when she asked me to face away from her when I was trying to say something to her (irrelevant stuffs unrelated to this review) while she was drawing blood from me. I understand that due to the COVID19 pandemic, people are taking precautions and Today seems a little busier (likely due to it being around lunch time), but the few moments I was there, it sounded like the other nurses had a bit more better bedside manner than mine to put it nicely. Point is, it makes me wonder if the nurse I had today (while weren't even close to the rudest person I've met nor heard about from other people's experiences with people) had a slight attitude towards me for some reason or if there was just some explainable reason for the less than usual bedside manner.

Perhaps I got a phlebotomist having an off-day. All I know is, my experience at this lab recently was not the best and I am not planning on returning here. Had a "new patient" appointment with a doctor nearby who surprisingly ordered some bloodwork for me. I hadn't expected lab work to be ordered but, luckily, I was already fasting, and the doctor said there was a lab a block away, so I decided to just get it over with. I thought I'd be in and out quickly, as the labs ordered were few and commonplace (nothing complicated or exotic, lol!), and I have fabulous veins (have never had a problem with blood draws. I'm even a regular blood donor!). How wrong I was. The waiting room was full of people, waiting. There was a long line of people waiting to check in, with only one person at the counter doing the check-ins (after 10 minutes, another person joined her to help, thankfully). There's no privacy at all; as I waited in line for my turn, I heard the counter lady advise a woman checking in about the needed urine sample (ALL the details), and other tests ordered. This is SUCH a no-no in the States, where privacy issues are regarded so seriously. Other patients in a lab or doctor's office are never supposed to hear the details of other patents' orders. I gather people can make appointments online, which is great, but for those of us who walk-in, the waiting can be crazy-long. And after I waited 20-25 minutes or so after checking in, there was no-one available for me to ask for a status check (my kid was with me and I didn't want her to be too late to school). I was called to the back after a 40-45 minute wait. It really felt like a cattle call. I was sent to a tiny cubicle where I passed other patients in other cubicles in the process of getting bloods drawn. I heard all about all the tests being ordered for the patients in the cubicles in front and behind me (again, I consider this a breach of privacy. I heard all about the breath test and blood tests and urine tests ordered for the folks around me, as well as their names and dates of birth - since we all have to verify our identities, All this info should be done in private!). I won't mention my phlebotomist by name, but although she was sweet, she wasn't adept at her job. She dismissed my suggestion to draw from my left antecubital vein (the most prominent I have and the chosen site for all blood draws and blood donations), instead opting to go with a smaller vein on the right arm (my writing arm). At least she used a butterfly needle (small) but man, it still hurt like the Dickens! And she didn't get the vein! She went with a larger vein in the right antecubital and got it, but man, it too hurt like hell! Stung! Badly! I give blood and have blood work done regulary and it has never stung, ever! Sometimes there may be a momentary pinch, but this was different. And later that evening, my right arm was still tender where she poked me twice. I asked the phlebotomist how I might be able to check my results online. She said she'd leave the information for me "up front", to "pick up when I leave", as I was new to the LifeLabs system and had to get some info to create an account. Well, when I left, there was nobody in the front to ask, and since I had been there a good hour and my kid was late for school, I just left. Argh.

The employees here aren't particularly rude per se, but the problem I have is that they are so…read morebacked up with overbooked appointments, they might as well just let anyone check in all Willy nilly. Had several people who got checked in despite me and a few others had already waited in line for several minutes.... Basically the employees allowed them to cut in line. Today I was one of the many who had made an appointment and had waited for a WHILE in line..... and then all of the sudden they called for anyone who had an appointment. Fair enough...... UNTIL THEY let someone directly behind me come up and rang them up because they were too busy to realize I also stated I had an appointment too... took me everything I had not to raise my voice and call them out on it because it'll put myself at risk to being kicked out and having to make yet another appointment even though I was clearly in line with a few other people. I am not even in the wrong because I'm 99% sure there's probably a few other people in the waiting room who felt the same way as I did (that the line up and waiting time is all over the place). This specific location does blood tests, urine tests, stool samples and echo (and likely a couple other tests) and quite frankly I find it really unfortunate that they haven't even created a separate lab for those who just needed to pop in and do a quick blood and urine test and just leave. Those whose test could've been done within 5 minutes or less should've been let in first and shooed away right after. This would've EASILY caused the line to move a lot quicker. A giant waste of everyone's time is all I'm saying as quality control was non existent. PS. Disclaimer - I feel this isn't really entirely the fault of the employees (though I do feel they play a part in it), but the problem being the system they have to use just isn't effective. CEO of the company needs to be forced to either build another location here in the north shore that can do the same thing OR create a specific location that only does blood & urine tests for a quick in & out.
