I've been to so many LifeLabs, I've lost count. But BY FAR, this is the absolute best site, hands…read moredown. Here are the reasons: -efficiency. They are appointment-based only. No walk-ins. So you are assured a spot and a time, with minimal waiting. -large and bright office, and impeccably clean. -FREE WI-FI. (This is a real rarity at other lab sites). -more services are offered here than at many other LifeLab sites. Examples: EKG's, cardiac holder monitors, etc. -Professionalism of staff. A female checked me in (I didn't get her name) and although she was somewhat aloof, she was thorough and organized and I had zero wait time. My tech was Ian and he was phenomenal. I have had to get cardiac monitors and EKG's frequently and he was the most thorough when it came to instructions and, wow, they even provide you with a mesh "vest" over the monitor (I never got that before, and it made a huge difference in comfort level and stability). And even upon returning the following day, the staff here remembered me and the whole "disconnect and drop-off" experience was, dare I say, pleasant. My experiences at this site were unlike any I've had at other LifeLabs, and this will be the only site I go to from here on in, for sure.

Upon entering you lineup with your carecard to check-in and then sit until your name and a corresponding room is announced. Save time by booking your appointment online ahead of time although be sure to let them know if you've arrived early like I did today (appointment was 1:20pm but I was able to be there just before noon). I prefer this location over many of the others in the vicinity.

I had to get overdue work done and fortunately was able to reserve a last minute cancellation than have to chance a walk-in with wait times. Upon arrival, checking in was flawless and it took less than 10 minutes from the reception desk to getting my examination completed. The office had proper protocols, social distancing was easy and the online system worked efficiently without having one too many people in a shared space. But most importantly, I wanted to highlight the healthcare worker who checked me in. She was friendly, welcoming, and despite having layers of proper safety wear on shielding her face (e.g. extra gowns, facemask, gloves, face shield, etc.) I could tell that she was smiling through her eyes/voice and made sure I felt comfortable through the whole experience. She is the type of character that we need who can make a strange world feel normal again - thank-you to these spirits and all our essential workers.

When the x-ray technician asked how I injured my foot, I explained that when I was heading to my bathroom in the dark, I kept forgetting about a big box in the hallway that I was shipping to a friend in the Philippines. On three different occasions I had bashed my bare foot on the corner of the box. To my surprise he asked was it a Balikbayan box? When I said yes, he said that's a very big shipping box and quite heavy when fully loaded. He was very thorough in getting images of my foot from numerous angles and it wasn't long before I was out of their office.

The worst center ever! I had a mammogram there a month ago…read more About a week later, I received a call from the clinic saying I needed to book another appointment for further testing -- both an ultrasound and a repeat mammogram. On the day of the appointment, I took half a day off work and rushed there by Uber, only to be told that I couldn't do the tests because they needed a requisition from my doctor. If a requisition was required, why did they call me and schedule the appointment in the first place? Later, a staff member approached me outside the office and explained that the appointment had been booked by mistake because the clerk was new and didn't have the right information. Still, during my first visit, the radiologist had clearly mentioned there was a high chance I'd need to repeat the test -- so this situation was entirely preventable. To make things worse, the staff member told me that since I also work, I should understand what it's like to make mistakes at the beginning of a job. Such a rude and unprofessional comment! This experience was incredibly frustrating. These people have zero respect for patients' time and emotional well-being, and they seem completely unaware of how stressful and anxious this kind of situation can be.

***Update 11/7/22*** I returned to this downtown x-ray…read moreclinic for a quickie knee x-ray. Was here today, Monday, at around 11 am. As before, you don't need an appointment to be seen (they take walk-ins for x-rays, but you'll need an appt for bone density testing). Unlike last time, there was a 30 minute wait this time, with patients seated in the small waiting area and also standing outside the door. I was reminded of how clean yet sterile this place is. White hospital-like walls without any artwork or color. Basic metal chairs in the waiting room; nothing plush or designed for comfort. Clean, yes, but not inviting in any way. I was reminded of how cool and aloof the employees are here. There are two: the lady behind the front counter who does the scheduling and checks you in, and the man who is the radiology tech. Not once did either of these people look me in the eye, talk to me directly or smile in any way, shape or form. They were both robotic-like, in every way. It was particularly unnerving with the radiologist who actually positioned my knee properly for x-raying. To have someone actually touch you yet never look at you is especially disconcerting somehow. But the lady receptionist, too, never looked at me, yet still talked to me when I checked in, verified my info, took my ID to verify, etc. I have to say, I've never encountered such distant, disconnected staff in any medical practice or clinic ever in my 61 years. I am taking off one star from my previous review, not because of the impersonal patient care here, but because of the clinic's mask policy. There are signs everywhere, outside and in, saying that masks are mandatory in this clinic, and they even provide free masks for patients if you forget yours. I love this, and feel safer when everyone is wearing a mask in an indoor setting with no windows. So I was particularly surprised and dismayed when the lady at the front counter was maskless. I was there for 40-45 minutes and she never had one on or even nearby. This is the woman who is in contact with every patient who comes through the door, checks them in, handles their ID. She is the common denominator to every single person who enters the room. And she doesn't wear a mask. Go figure. Thankfully all of us patients complied with the posted mandatory mask policy. So at least there's that.
