The wait times are unexcusable. When you have to wait two months for a simple blood test. The viper Americans who own the company have stripped the staff down to a skeleton crew who work like slugs. Showed up for my appointment in February only to discover that the lab was closed due to a rotating strike. Waited until strike was settled to go back (not about to starve myself again for nothing), but, until today, have been unable to book an appointment. The confirmation box was greyed out and nothing I did seemed to make a difference (the instructions were few and irrelevant). After trying different locations on different days, I finally pretended I was booking for someone else and the moronic system finally let me book for myself if I checked that I was booking for someone else. The confirmation box became active, but the phone number and email address provided belonged to no one I know (or would book appointments for), so demonstrates some pretty lousy security. I'd never go back, but they have a near monopoly in my city. read more

This location is very combenient from public transit users bus #20, #41 #R4 As I wanted to come by on weekend early morning, I had booked three weeks ago. Remember they accept only appointment now. 1 star (only because zero isn't an option) I am beyond disappointed with LifeLabs. Due to their unacceptably slow processing time, my sample was not analyzed in time for a critical medical exam. This mistake forced me to repeat the entire process--through no fault of my own. When I reached out expecting accountability and a prompt resolution, I was met with indifference. Their "solution"? A new appointment... three months later. Three months. Just to drop off a sample. After they compromised my timeline and put my health and plans on hold. LifeLabs shows no sense of urgency, no responsibility for their errors, and no respect for the people who depend on them. I expected professional healthcare service--not bureaucratic apathy. "Above and Beyond" I recently presented here with my 87 yr old Mom in Law ( Stage 7 Alzheimer's) for blood work . This is usually a big ordeal as she's very hard to hydrate pre trip , and her veins hide making the process difficult, causing repeated attempts stress and discomfort . Natalie checked us in, heard my concerns (history) and immediately offered some heat to warm both Mom's left and right target sites , and after 5 minutes of warmth applied, followed back to collect her sample with ONE poke and done . No one at the W7th location knows what is going on; reservations for an hour previous are sitting and waiting, while other names are being called out who aren't here. I have a standing order for bloodwork as a type 1 diabetic and after waiting for over 2 hours, the lady at the front tells me my standing order expired; well, I wish my diabetes expired, but it's here for life. No help, just kicked out and told to talk to my doctor. What a waste of time; other places have just extended the requisition as they know I have a permanent disease. There are a lot of pricks here. Needle pricks, that is. I loathe coming here. Almost every visit has resulted in the loss of blood. Those visits that did not require bloodshed instead involved piss and poop. Not fun. It is kind of fun to walk to the front of the line with an appointment booked online instead of shivering in the rain and cold with the hoi polloi. These are COVID times, after all. All it takes is a little thought and planning. The staff are at least capable of finding a vein on the first try. I haven't had to endure multiple pokes of the needle like a drunk trying to insert a key into an ignition. That said, I question the amount of blood taken. I arrived an hour early for my regular blood test and told the woman at reception that I they were more than 30 minutes late the last few times so I came early. She said they can't fit me in and I should come back in an hour. So I came back in an hour and the same gal looked my up and said I didn't have an appointment on their schedule. I told her that my Oncologist will need this result for our appointment in a few days. Would they be able to fit me in. Told me NO, go to another lab. This location is the worst. It's always busy. The staff are very slow and disorganized. Even with an appointment, I still have to wait way past my appt time. This time is was 25 min wait past my appt time. What's the point in having an appointment? Not sure what they are doing at this location. There is no order whatsoever. read more

I had an appointment at Lifelabs at 750 West Broadway for 8:55am. I arrived on time. I waited for 10 minutes and then they told me to go to room # 3. I went there and waited about 25 minutes before someone showed up to do my bloodwork. I noticed several patients who came after me and were served almost immediately while I waited. I mentioned several times to staff that I have been waiting and they kept putting me off. I found them to be very disorganized. It seemed like they were not following any cue or priority. I started at Burnside, I am was not aware there was no walk in option there. The receptionist pointed to the card with walk in locations. absolutely no help for me to decide where to go next. I then went to cedar hill location. I found it difficult to find at first. then the wait was over two hours. nobody offered to redirect me. I finally found the site and waiting times for other locations. i finally went to Hillside where I was greeted with respect and a friendly face. The wait was much much less. Perhaps Burnside might have directed me to the site first and saved me over an our and driving all over the city? What about folks that rely on bus or don't have a handle on technology. I usually hate leaving bad or critical reviews. It's so easy for one employee to have a bad day and give bad service, but that doesn't reflect what the company normally does. LifeLabs is going to be an exception to this rule. LifeLabs has been giving professional level rude service for years. I've never once been rude to one of their employees, but I've been treated rudely more times than I can count! But fortunately for us, they now have an appointment reservation app that streamlines the rudeness. Now they can disrespect your time by making you wait for AN HOUR beyond your scheduled appointment, AND STILL BE RUDE TO YOU. My hat is off to the quick thinking executive who came up with this idea. I did not get my blood tested, because they didn't have the requisition my doctor sent. Did they check that when I first came in? No, they made me sit for an hour and a half in a freezing cold waiting room, and THEN they told me they didn't have my requisition. Why didn't they check when they put me on the list in the first place? NO FREAKING CLUE!!!! "But why didn't you call ahead to confirm they had it," up ask? BECAUSE THEY SAID I COULDN'T unless my req was less than 48 hours before. They REFUSED to confirm it until I'd driven to the lab, been signed in and sat for an hour and a half. This is my health. If I cannot get my blood tested, I can't get my meds. This is unacceptable and whoever designed this system really needs to take a seat. Just brutal. read more

The staff at this location are very helpful and extremely patient. I arrived in the Wednesday morning at 5:40am and there was already a line. They opened promptly and were able to take patient information quickly and accurately. They are renovating currently so the office is not the best as far as privacy goes. I can't complain. read more

We checked in 15min before appointment time. We then waited patiently outside. We were called into the lab seating area. We sate for another 20min. When I went to check on what was happening, the check-in girl said we had already been served. When I explained that we had only been called into the waiting area, but the nurses had not called us, she replied - THAT's NONE OF MY BUSINESS. Prior to this happening to us, we witnessed the same happen to another patient in line before us. 1. Today is a Monday, and perhaps busier than usual. BUT this location is always busy 2. The check in girl was running amuck trying to multi task, none of which she was doing well 3. What kind of customer service response is THAT's NONE OF MY BUSINESS. I remind you that You have a job today because I am your business 4. I think when patients check-in with her, she accidentally electronically inputs in her laptop as being served. Life labs lcated on 777 Hornby street an employee by the name Robyn has the worst customer service. She treats patients with high level of rudenss and has absolutely no peoples skills. Unfortunately there is no real alternative BUT there needs to be and the BC Government needs to get in the game - pre-flight PCR results were to be within 48 hours max and took 52 hours!! We had to leave for ultimate departure point on the hope that we'd - a) get the results and b) they'd be negative. Called ahead. Rang forever with no message. Decided to chance it anyway. Got there. Locked. They had a notice they were doing professional development. That's fine and all. We all want pros. But how hard is it to put that info on your phone? Rank amateurs if you ask me. Some of us have trouble getting there and are saving up our samples (at no minimal discomfort). Very friendly service from the receptionist. I forgot my BC Carecard and the nurse was kind enough to let me meet my appointment that I booked online. She walked through the process and asked questions to ensure I was comfortable. I was in and out within 10 minutes. read more

Everyone here was extremely friendly, and despite a packed waiting room it took only 30 minutes to have my blood work done. When I first walked in, I consider just walking out again seeing how full it was. But it emptied out quickly, and both the receptionist and the person taking my sample were courteous, friendly, personable, and genuinely seem to be in good spirits. read more

Just went in to try to get some lab work done and very impolitely had one of the staff shove her hand up and say they were closed. It's fine that they were and couldn't see me, but there is a difference between being polite and informative and just being plain rude. I would definitely go to a different location. read more
