You can make an appointment directly on their site, but they also take walk ins. I used to go to Sunnybrook for blood tests, but coordinating this with a baby was hard. They open right at 7:30 on weekdays (closed on weekends). The staff are extremely efficient. This morning I went at 7:20 and was out the door by 7:40. This is my go to lab now. I've been here twice now and both times they were overbooked. They get folks through fairly quickly…read moreand efficiently but their scheduling results in the clients waiting outside on the street. First time the wait was annoying but a little more tolerable due to warm weather. Second visit, just like the first, I arrived 10 minutes early as instructed. After 25 min waiting outside I finally got in out of the cold and was able to sit down. I'm a left leg amputee and standing for long periods is harder for me than most. There are no chairs or anything to sit on outside their office. Most disappointing is that the staff couldn't have cared less. I'm not looking for 5 star concierge service at a blood lab but I would have thought someone would have been concerned about the issue I raised. I just got silence and a too bad so sad look. It's conveniently located but for me that's all it has going for it. And be prepared that they will be well behind in their schedule.

This lab is super busy which is good for business but not for the clients…read more I was asked for my OHIP card and left it with the receptionist while I went inside to get blood drawn. I left after the service. Few days later I realized I did not have my OHIP card which I needed very bad due to the circumstances surrounding around my blood work. I called their office. The main line goes to the Head Office and they do not transfer because again the clinic is very busy. I walked in during my lunch and I was told there is no card because (she looked one drawer)...there is no where to keep it and I was told if found they usually call. I was pissed off because I need the card for a lot of follow up tests in the hospital. and also I really do not understand why they need to take the card. They can just make sure the name on the card is same as the name on the requisition. They take the card and by the time you are done with the service and leaving, there is usually bunch of people trying to sign in so you wait again to retrieve the card. It is the most disorganized lab. I would never take my business there again. Now I am forced to apply for the OHIP. And this will impact greatly of my follow ups...

In the last few months (unfortunately) I've had to to several tests and can say I've got to know the staff more than the average Joe. They take care of you here, not the "in-your-face" kind of help you get from a salesperson at you clothing store. But they try to make the needle process as painless as possible. And this is what makes me happy here, they're not rushing. I've found out the best time to go is 4-5pm as most people try to go early in the morning as some tests require fasting.

Was told that my doctor had not given me the correct paperwork. Had to call my doctor's office, only to find out that the paperwork I submitted was accurate (AFTER the lady on the desk checked with her colleagues). WTF. 2. I asked if I had to pay for the test. She said "no", then asked a colleague who said "yes". Okaaaaay. 3. I handed her my card, assumed she was swiping it (couldn't see beneath the counter top), she handed me back my card and said I needed to pay. WHAT. I thought I just did. No, that's done by someone else. 4. Constant, incessant interruptions by her colleagues left me waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally, I had enough and suggested she focus on completing my transaction to which I received a mouthful and to which I responded accordingly. They need to train their front-line staff AND they need an additional person on the front desk. All I wanted to do was hand in a specimen and it took waaaaaay longer than it should have with a lot of aggro. Go to another Dynacare if you can. This place is atypical of Dynacare's usual high standards.

However - EVERY time I have gone to Dynacare and had my blood taken by Cristina, the Lab Technician, whatever magic or needle sorcery she does - it's painless and over in seconds. And she has consistently taken it quickly and painlessly over the couple years I have gone, is always calm and pleasant, and puts me at ease telling me stories or jokes.
