I've been using Dynacare Labs. near my home for decades and they've always been TERRIFIC. Had to go to this (different) location today to hand in a routine medical specimen: 1. Was told that my doctor had not given me the correct paperwork. Had to call my doctor's office, only to find out that the paperwork I submitted was accurate (AFTER the lady on the desk checked with her colleagues). WTF. 2. I asked if I had to pay for the test. She said "no", then asked a colleague who said "yes". Okaaaaay. 3. I handed her my card, assumed she was swiping it (couldn't see beneath the counter top), she handed me back my card and said I needed to pay. WHAT. I thought I just did. No, that's done by someone else. 4. Constant, incessant interruptions by her colleagues left me waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally, I had enough and suggested she focus on completing my transaction to which I received a mouthful and to which I responded accordingly. They need to train their front-line staff AND they need an additional person on the front desk. All I wanted to do was hand in a specimen and it took waaaaaay longer than it should have with a lot of aggro. Go to another Dynacare if you can. This place is atypical of Dynacare's usual high standards. read more

2401 Yonge Street, Toronto I avoid getting blood work done at all costs. I'm a fainter, and have "blood from a stone" veins. However - EVERY time I have gone to Dynacare and had my blood taken by Cristina, the Lab Technician, whatever magic or needle sorcery she does - it's painless and over in seconds. And she has consistently taken it quickly and painlessly over the couple years I have gone, is always calm and pleasant, and puts me at ease telling me stories or jokes. My 'go to' when I need a blood test. Both working and living in the area, their hours work well for me. They're open at 8 am on weekdays so I can go before work; on Saturday's, they're open from 9 am. I haven't been going on weekdays for a long time, but I would definitely give 10 stars, if possible, to my experiences on Saturday mornings. The crew are so efficient. I think the lead is this Eastern European guy who sits at the front and does the processing of paperwork. He's so quick that you barely have to wait. It helps that the guys who work here come at 5 to 9 so they're ready to start right on time. The clientele are people from the area. My friend went to another location and said that she couldn't stop clutching on to her purse because the people around her looked so sketchy. A solid five star. read more

This place is a few doors down from my doctor's office so I took my requisition on over and put on my super brave face. I don't do well with blood/needles, and told them as much -- I'm a fainter, and it really throws people off sometimes. It's in a basement. When I got there, they were busy talking about diet tips and took their time taking my card and processing me despite there being nobody in the waiting room. Three ladies tried to find a vein and take my blood. They poked me a few times too just to see if they could hit paydirt, to no avail. When my eyes were rolling into the back of my head and fingers turned ice cold, they just told me I needed to relax. I apologized that they weren't able to find a vein (I don't know why I did this -- the Canadian-ness really came out) but they just ignored me. They switched me around in positions a few times, and then when they gave up, just left the room and told me I could go. They didn't check (as many people have before in the same situation) to make sure I could get up without fainting, and didn't say anything when I left. If I poked at a queasy, faint person's arms for a half hour and didn't get a result, I'd at least check to ensure they made it out the door in an upright position. A few hours later, I recovered and made an appointment at Life Labs. They too had trouble finding a vein, but the two practitioners there were very kind and gave me the option to come back another day instead. They took the time to explain why there might be an issue today specifically. They also talked to me, trying to distract me, and eventually got the job done. read more

Ok - after over a decade of fearing blood tests, Joanne, the amazing nurse at this lab helped me get over my fear of the scary thick, blood-drawing needle. Seriously, I sat in the chair, she came in, started doing her thing, I cannot even remember what she talked about because I was so scared s^*^less (but really trying not to show it) - but I remember saying "I feel stupid saying this but this is really no big deal, RIGHT?". She looks at me, rolls her eyes and was all "definitely not!", flips open a tab and reveals the bigass needle. And without hesitation, fully knowing that I'm in fight or flight mode, pops the needle into my arm. It was one of those, past the point of no return moments - the ones that happen so slowly, that make you think like you've got a full hour to decide whether or not to stay or go and what those implications will mean further down the road.... but no - it happened so fast, all I felt was a tiny prick for half a second, and then - the needle was IN. And then I froze. "Why don't you look? I find it always helps me get over it if I look while it's happening." "Uhm, no it's okay," I responded, trying hard to still keep my right hand in a fist while not thinking about how a thick needle was directly drawing blood from a vein in my arm. That thought alone, weakened my tight grip which Joanne noticed. "Allllmost there..." She made a motion which signalled to me that she was changing the vial to get a second vial of blood...SICK, I thought. Despite not being able to feel anymore pain, the psychological-ness of it all was making me feel light-headed. "Done!" And with the same swiftness she used to poke me with the needle, she retracted her hand and out came the needle - I didn't even feel any of this! "You're done" I sat in the chair as she taped some cotton to my inner elbow area, and marvelled at how incredibly stupid I felt, living in my fear of blood tests for more than a decade - when all it took was 53 seconds to get over it. I probably thanked Joanne a million times and swore that she would be the only person I allow to draw blood from me from now on. read more

All I had to do was drop off and the staff was very friendly and kind. I did have a wait a couple of minutes to be helped as the lady at the desk was sorting something out. The waiting room is quite small and I did notice a sign on the wall for an app that you can use to got your self on the wait list without actually having to show up until it's your turn. read more

Busy but well organized and efficient. Usually don't have to wait to long. Also can prebook to avoid waiting.

I found Gamma-Dynacare on this website and chose it based on location. When I went in the people were too busy gossiping with others of their native tongue (patients, friends, co-workers, I'm not sure) rather than assisting other patients. Please keep in mind I am from their country so I'm well aware of what I witnessed and what was discussed. When reception finally addressed me I was told I did not have a required form. I asked her to kindly explain what form I needed (I showed her everything the hospital provided me and asked her to write down the name of the form). She proceeded to roll her eyes and said she wanted to finish her previous task before writing what I requested which would have taken 10 seconds. I proceeded to wait for 5 minutes until she finally had time to write down 5 words on a piece of paper. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

The convenience of the location isn't worth tolerating their rude and disrespectful staff. I have been to a couple of other Dynacare labs in the city that are far more professional and friendly. This one at Yonge and Eglinton is best to be avoided. Choose another. read more
