What is frustrating is that walk ins are called in from the hallway and sometimes taken in for blood work before us who have an appt! This happened to us today. Shouldn't appointments be caught up first before adding in walk ins? What exactly is the point of having an appt except you get to sit in a chair instead of standing in a lineup. The system is frustrating and stressful.

I'm here now waiting in this incredibly long line up and I have an appointment. There's only 2 people at the desk. It seems like they're always short staffed or even if they have another person it's still incredibly slow. I remember amother time I had to wait half an hour just to drop off a specimen. They really need to make some changes to their system here, waiting in line for half an hour just to drop off a specimen and waiting even when you have an appointment is ridiculous. Staff is generally nice but the wait is too much.

UNPROFESSIONAL I was…read morewaiting for some bloodwork at this location this morning. Around 7:44am, a staff comes out to call for a patient. I looked at her name tag so I know the name but I'll save that for a formal complaint to Lifelabs. She calls the patient name twice and what shocked most of us was when she yells the name of the test the patient was there for. Most of us looked at each other with eyebrows raised. Isn't this considered private information? And you yell it out in front of about 20 people? How unprofessional. Additionally, she told me off for not being able to find my veins. I told her they were shy and I've always had problems when getting blood work done because it takes a while to find them. She scolded me when she found out I didn't drink water. I told her the requisition specifically stated fasting and no food or water for 8 hours prior. She went on and on about how Doctor should have told me to drink water blah blah blah. It was such an uncomfortable encounter and I didn't like it. Not a great way to start the morning!

I signed in at a mobile kiosk with my driver's license and insurance card. A few minutes later I was in the back with a friendly young phlebotomist. Additionally, the seats in the private "rooms" seemed nice, clean, and comfortable. Personally, I feel that especially because they are a medical clinic they really should offer paper towels in the washrooms. So you are assured a spot and a time, with minimal waiting. -large and bright office, and impeccably clean. -FREE WI-FI. (This is a real rarity at other lab sites). -more services are offered here than at many other LifeLab sites. Examples: EKG's, cardiac holder monitors, etc. -Professionalism of staff. A female checked me in (I didn't get her name) and although she was somewhat aloof, she was thorough and organized and I had zero wait time. My tech was Ian and he was phenomenal. I have had to get cardiac monitors and EKG's frequently and he was the most thorough when it came to instructions and, wow, they even provide you with a mesh "vest" over the monitor (I never got that before, and it made a huge difference in comfort level and stability). And even upon returning the following day, the staff here remembered me and the whole "disconnect and drop-off" experience was, dare I say, pleasant. My experiences at this site were unlike any I've had at other LifeLabs, and this will be the only site I go to from here on in, for sure.

The location of this 'Lab' is tucked away a touch from the general flow in the area. and from personal experiences (daughter's and mine), can often be found a little less-active than others in nearby areas (within New Westminster and Burnaby). I arrived at the location about 5 minutes before the Lab's opening time of 8 am, and stood (as #3) in a line outside. The line had grown to double that amount by the time we were first allowed any entrance to check in. Once inside, the initial checking in process was prompt. The waiting time after though, to be actually processed for the lab procedures took some time, but knowing I was third to be taken helped! When my name was called, I was back to the desk, specific data taken, and then was off to the lab area for the procedures -- which proceeded friendly, quickly, and very efficiently! With smooth, and totally painless needle work by the lab tech at my station!! After a short visit to the 'other' place to make a deposit, I was back to daughter waiting for me outside!
