Our Vision
The LifeFit Center @ The Beach is a health and fitness facility for Long Beach community members and CSULB employees age 49 and above. We are an educational laboratory for the College of Health and Human Services and aim to promote intergenerational relationships between our members, staff, interns, and CSULB students. Our vision is to inspire and educate our community to a lifelong commitment to wellness.
We foster a community that inspires healthy behaviors and empowers longer, healthier, happier lives. We know the names of our members, our staff, and our interns, and we are invested in the well-being of those in our community.
Our top-notch fitness programming includes group fitness classes, personal training, small group & buddy training, nutrition counseling, and more. Stop by for a tour and complimentary one-day pass!
History
Established in 2012.
The LifeFit Center @ The Beach is a new fitness facility at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) for the age 50+ community.
The new facility is over 17,000 square feet. The LifeFit Center has a 7,000 square foot fitness room with cardio and resistance training equipment. There are three group fitness studios at the LifeFit Center, measuring a total of 6,500 square feet. There is also a multi-purpose room which will be used for movement, education, and social programming.
The Lifefit Center aims to be the premier health and fitness facility in the Long Beach area for the age 50+ community. We provide exceptional programming that fosters relationships among community members, CSULB students, faculty, and staff.
The LifeFit Center is in partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSULB. The facility is located on the CSULB campus in the Kinesiology building.
Meet the Manager: Ayla D.
Ayla D., Ed.D. - Director of the LifeFit Center @ The Beach
Ayla Donlin obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Business from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She then moved to warm and sunny California to pursue her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from LBSU. Upon receiving her Master's degree, Ayla became a lecturer in the Kinesiology department and has been teaching courses since 2008 in the Fitness and Sport Studies options. Ayla completed her Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from LBSU in 2014.
Ayla has been active in the fitness industry for over 10 years as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, group fitness director, and health club general manager. She is currently an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified personal trainer and works with Johnny G. and Matrix Fitness as an International Educational Representative for the Johnny G. Krankcycle® and IN-TRINITY® by Matrix.
