Good facilities, bad policies. Typical gym that tries to get every dollar from you possible. I went to this gym for 5 years. Enjoyed the outdoor pool, racquetball courts, yoga classes, and the fact that it wasn't a gym where you workout to socialize and 'be seen'. Got annoyed at times with some of their cardio machines not working right, but that problem exists at every gym. They raised my rate several times, probably 4 out of the 5 years. I have a month to month membership and had to cancel membership because of moving. Their inflexible and uncaring cancellation policies ultimately required me to pay for 2 months of membership after my cancel date. Just not a great way to treat a long-standing customer. Look elsewhere if gym shopping. read more

My husband and I belonged here for a year and it was approximately 11 months too long. The outdoor pool was fantastic in the summer but that's about the only positive thing I can say about the club. The people in membership/business are pushy and don't care much for customer service. They charge a $50 processing fee (each time) to take someone off and add someone back on to the account. Really? You already charge us almost $200/month. You need another $50 to take a name off? In addition (beware!) you need to give them excessive notice for cancellation and changed accounts. We tried to cancel our member ship on the 3rd day of September and said that we would need to keep our membership through October because they needed 30 days from our billing cycle (we were billed on the first of the month). Front desk staff needs to take a lesson in customer service as well. Before I joined I was a guest on my husbands account and the front desk guy raised his voice and yelled at me because I didn't put my email address down on the contact form. The club already had my information on filed and I had been receiving multiple emails from membership encouraging me to join. Classes were mediocre and locker room was super outdated. Lots of choices for gyms in Denver - unless you want an outdoor pool - iwould avoid this one. ** I'd like to add that while we had these issues we tried to talk to management about our frustrations with the club and they pretty much blew us off. It wasn't until I wrote this Yelp review that they seemed concerned with our disappointment in the club. read more

The Colonel and I have been members here for a couple of months now. I wanted to try out the classes, personal training and amenities before writing a review. Facility: They have recently updated the facility. They raise the dues annually by a few bucks to cover the cost of these upgrades. One reviewer was opposed to this, but inflation seems like a normal thing and they are very specific about letting the members know where their dollars are going. I love that they have places for your iphone/pod, etc to plug in and charge on the equipment so you can listen to your own music while you run. Just about all of the cardio equipment has their own flat screen tv, which I also love, since running indoors is one of my least favorite things to do. Pools are clean and there is always an outdoor pool open for lap swim. The leisure pool opens during the Summer months. Trainers: We worked out with Hugh for personal training and Adam for small group training. Both of them are awesome enough that we could not pick a favorite and will be doing both personal and small group training. You can get a 40% discount on training packages if you pre-purchase them when you become a member. Trainers are like therapists, you have to find one that works for you and one that will make you work! Spa: Admittedly, I was skeptical of a spa located inside of a gym. It wasn't a major draw for me as far as membership, more like an added bonus. I have tried their express manicure, pedicure, Jan Marini Facial, bikini wax and massage. I have been back for rounds two and three on some of them and will continue with all of those services there for as long as they remain consistently good. It is a small space that is more geared toward providing treatments than a traditional zen spa experience. Still, my Jan Marini facial was the most relaxing I have had. It you make another appointment when you are paying for your current one they give you 10% off. Tip: You can make your appointments online! Classes: My favorite class is Elizabeth's Ballet Sculpt. I hate to even say that since it's already crowded and I want to have a spot! There are so many to choose from and a multitude of instructors, so if you don't like instructor A for yoga, you have two or 3 more from which to choose. I agree with one of the other reviewers that the class times are not geared for traditional 9-5 workers. Take a look at all of the class schedules before you sign up to make sure you will not be disappointed in the times they are offered.Class schedules are available on the CCAC website and are updated monthly. Childcare: The space is clean and has both indoor and outdoor play areas. Infants are separated from the older children. My child is neither psyched to go, nor happy to leave. I think this is an adequate, safe facility for you to bring your child to get a workout. We don't use this feature of the club often, but it's fantastic that it's there. I am very happy with our decision to join here and feel the monthly dues are very reasonable for what they provide in return. read more

My husband and I have been members here for over 6yrs. This is my second time joining this club in fact. I've been to Colorado Athletic Club and the Denver Athletic Club and this is the winner for me. I don't know how people go to the meat market gyms like 24hr and Ballys. At CCAC, you don't have to bring a towel, they have his and hers steam/sauna/and hot tubs. You don't have to sign up for classes or wait for any equipment. Yes they charge for Pilates and TRX but so does everywhere else. They do have the TRX things up if you want to do it yourself for free. You can also take the Pilates classes without the actual equipment. This isn't that big of a deal people. CCAC also has both an indoor and outdoor lap pools that I've never seen kids in, so not sure what that one complaint was about. Yes it is more expensive, but then I want to get my monies worth versus the countless people I know who'll pay 24hr $5mo for the rest of their lives and never go just so they don't lose that deal. Makes no sense to me. They have a kids entrance, family locker room, and family pool. Not sure where the family complaints are coming from when I see TONS of kids out there every summer. All the updates lately, while inconvenient at the time, are definitely making this nicer. Yes there are a lot of old grumpy people there, but I'm not there for them. I'm there to work out. Perhaps people should join a YMCA or some other Rec center if working out isn't their priority. The staff is always very friendly, although some of the trainers like to believe that they're the only ones allowed to use huge areas of the gym. Probably my only complaint. Oh and that the scooter parking says, "Cars No Parking". I wish they'd repaint that lol. Of course people park there anyway lol. Anyway. Don't join. More room and equipment for us. :) read more

Member for two years with my wife and we agree this is one of the best purchases we've ever made. The location is conveniently located along the Cherry Creek Trail, the facilities are spacious enough to comfortably contain even the biggest post-New Year's resolutions and pre-bikini seasons crowds, the equipment is in great shape, the pools (indoor and outdoor) are well maintained, and the on-site daycare is wonderful. What more are you looking for? Oh right, the price is right. I belonged to a smaller downtown gym and paid more for less. We couldn't be happier with this gym. One last note, I was motivated to finally write a review because of all the negative reviews below. If your biggest problem is someone stupidly using a phone in a locker room (which is prohibited and posted in multiple locations, but morons will be morons), or *GASP* nudity in a locker room, or fees for early cancellations or whatever, it sounds like you have other issues. Get out and don't come back. LOVE THIS CLUB. read more

I was a guest of a member. Great location, clean environment and it is great to have an option for a kids and adult pool to escape the heat. read more

CCAC is great for the entire family. The workout facilities are top notch as is the 25m pool. There is a kids pool too that is great for our toddler and above. I highly recommend! read more

I've been going to the CCAC for about 5 years. Excellent classes, gym facilities, clean locker rooms, helpful staff. Only suggestion for improvement would be to give members 1 or 2 free guest passes a month to bring a guest. The club I was a member of in San Francisco did this and it was greatly appreciated! read more

Boy is this place going downhill now with the new owners (Lifetime). Went there tonight and 9/10 elliptical and stair climber machines had no signal, a number of the stair machines have TV signal but no audio, they are playing insipid muzak rock overhead which is just distracting since everyone is either listening to their own thing or to something on a screen.Coup de grace? No toilet paper in the men's locker room toilets. Fun. And they are going to raise prices in January! read more

I have been a member of CCAC for many years and it's a fantastic place. Great staff, excellent classes, teachers, trainers, etc. Best gym in town and one of the longest standing. Be sure to check out FIT CLUB with Omar Ornelas. It's one of the best workouts you will ever experience and good for all ages. read more

This has been one of my best gym experiences going on 4 years as a member now. Friendly staff, clean facilities, so many amenities! I love the varied group class selection with so many options throughout the day. Highly recommended! read more

I have been really happy so far with this gym. It is clean, has updated equipment, year round pool, an adults only outside pool and a wide variety of classes. The sign-up process was easy, non-pushy and I think the membership fee is really reasonable compared to other facilities. I never have to wait to use a shower or gym equipment like I have at other gyms, which is really nice. I don't really understand why there are so many reviews about people being upset about nudity in the locker rooms. GUESS WHAT! It's a locker room, people get naked. If you have a problem with people getting undressed around you/being comfortable naked then maybe you shouldn't use the locker rooms. The only thing I wished they offered was more classes that started at/after 6pm so I could make it to them after work. read more

I'm updating my review to 3 stars instead of 1 due to the New GM reaching out to me and finally resolving the issues I've had from my previous posts. Although I did not renew my membership it seems he genuinely cares about the members and is turning the communication errors around. I never had a problem with the clubs equipment, cleanliness, spa or classes and so... If you read contracts "throughly" and ask any and all questions you feel might come up before you join, getting everything in writing, I'm sure you will enjoy this club. read more

The club has been a great place for my husband and I to workout. Today they were very accommodating to let my grandchildren come in on guest passes to use the pool. The staff has been very patient when I have forgotten my locker code more than once and needed assistance. Love this place! Sue Graves read more

The indoor/outdoor pool is fabulous. I love the body pump class as well as the spinning bikes to use outside of the classes. The bar classes are a great toning exercise. Day care is amazing. The staff is great. I wish they were open later hours on the weekends to use them more! read more

The best athletic club in Denver by far! Huge facility - you're never waiting on a machine! There are hundreds of classes to choose from and they are all amazing. Ben, Stacey, Katie G, Katie H, and Keegan are all phenomenal. Their classes are tough and challenging but they make it so fun! The pool is something we all enjoy together as a family. Check them out, tell them I recommended you! You will love love it! I promise! read more

I've travelled a lot and always search for an athletic club with a lap pool, yoga classes and nice locker rooms. Cherry creek Athletic Club is TOP NOTCH! They do a great job accommodating a very diverse membership and really encouraging fitness and an active lifestyle. Their equipment is the latest, clean, and seems to be always functioning. The steam room, sauna and huge jacuzzi in the women's locker room are the icing on the cake after a work out. The membership person, Ariana, was very gracious and worked hard to customize a membership that fit my needs perfectly. Wish I could go every day! read more

I was a member when this club was still Cherry Creek Athletic Club and was happy to pay the expensive monthly dues for our family membership. Once they underwent renovations - which eliminated all of the green space outside at the family pool, I began to question the staff about it. I was informed by several employees they were not allowed to have any conversations disparaging the renovations - ordered by management. The arrogance of new management is astounding. I cancelled my membership...they suck! read more

Ah Sunday. A day for retrospect and review. That means it's Yelp! day and sharing my experiences with this thing called life. And the services and providers that either leave me feeling happy or not so much. I reviewed my new gym Pura Vida in an earlier post and now its time for me to discuss why I left Cherry Creek Athletic Club...AKA Glendale Athletic Club, in the hopes that us Yelpers can make a better world! I joined this gym when I first moved here because I didn't really have a choice. Well, I tested out Colorado Athletic (nice and less expensive but not as close) and I refused to consider 24 or Bally's because I don't like staph infections much. This gym was fine for awhile. I had just moved here and thought all 'expensive gyms' in Denver were in a time warp and dated so Cherry Creek Athletic was the best there was even if it had that shag carpet feeling. Newsflash: it's 2011 (well almost) and this type of gym is no longer relevant. Having a lot of equipment is great, but not if it's dirty and germy. Kids are great! If they are kept away from my workout. Showers are necessary, but not when the male staff members are lurking in the showers 'enjoying themselves' and being generally creepy. (watch out for the new guy named Todd who takes member SERVICE to a new level). The classes are decent but not top notch. If you miss old school aerobics you will find plenty of options. The weight area is okay if a bit dark. The pools are nice in the summer but in Denver, that means 3 months. The main reason for leaving, besides the above was the overall Rec Center feel. I just couldn't continue to pay the prices they were asking for this type of experience. And again- Dirty! The good news: you now have better options in Denver and the gyms are stepping it up a notch. I give 2 stars. If it wasn't for the summer pools, I'd give 1. read more

I have been a proud member of Cherry Creek Athletic Club for 18 years and was absolutely horrified when it became Lifetime Fitness almost overnight. I was told that my membership dues would be honored through December, but would increase by 20% after that. I gave them a month, but was disappointed that it became such an I-bot corporate club. When I decided to end my membership, the person I spoke with was almost happy, and I felt as though the door was kicking me in the ass on the way out. Interestingly, the parking lot is less crowded and the club seems almost empty when I go while I am still a member through 1/29. Lifetime clearly wants a different demographic and good luck with that. Sad. read more

Maybe this place has a ton of members already, I don't know. I really wanted a gym close by with a pool, but alas, the membership team here seems confused by the word membership. On the website, they have a form submission to contact the membership department. I've sent three of those submission forms. I've called at least twice. No response. Today I finally talked to someone in the membership office, asking about membership, and they were so confused when I said I wanted more information about membership. "What, I'm sorry? Membership? Um..." I'm not sure what goes on at this gym, but I'm tired of trying to get in. read more

I cannot express how lucky this facility is to acquire their new trainer Kristen Youngs. I worked with Kristen exclusively at another gym in New York City for almost 2 years. I have multiple injuries and it takes extreme skill to be able to find a workout that will work for me, show results, but also be low impact on my back and knees. I have worked with many different trainers since 2003 and NEVER have I encountered someone who knows how to make a slight modification to ANY exercise in order to ease pain and prevent injury during a training session. In general, when working with a trainer if you tell them you are hurting, they will stop that particular exercise and move onto another one. This is ineffective as some exercises are indispensable. It literally blew my mind that Kristen knew how to tweak literally every movement so precisely. Work with Kristen at Cherry Creek Athletic Club. You will be addicted to her care. Please ask Kristen to reach out to me personally if you want more details. read more

The good: the front desk staff is really nice and helpful, the gym is clean, and its the only gym with an outdoor pool in the area. The bad: the business office staff are SO RUDE (even if you just want to add a membership), the equipment is dated, the trainers make fun of other gym patrons to their clients, and probably worst of all, this summer this club decided they were no longer going to employ lifeguards, which is incredibly irresponsible for a gym that pitches its self as kid friendly. read more

I've been a member for several years and always enjoyed the spin classes and lap pool. Our young kids also had summer memberships and took swim lessons. My husband and I have been members of this club for over a decade. We have participated in almost every possible fitness class at one time or another and really appreciate the expertise the instructors bring to their classes. We often use the cardio and weight rooms and they are light, clean and well-maintained. The view out the top floor towards the mountains is awesome! The staff are friendly and as helpful as can be. We are very happy to be members and aren't planning on leaving anytime soon. My two concerns are the price of membership (it just keeps going up and up!) and the price of day passes. The club used to have a great deal where you could buy a book of 10 passes for $10-$12 each, so when my family came to visit it was a nice way to get a workout in together. Passes are more than double that price now which makes it much more of an economic burden. read more

9 year loyal member. Finally cancelled and feel a sense of relief! One of only a few instances I can recall in my life where I feel so compelled to write a review about my experience (management shrugs off any feedback and could literally care less about the membership experience). As you'll see in the reviews, a lot of consistency in how many people like it up until a point where management or billing treats loyal members so ridiculously that they get fed up and leave. I'm just the latest. Great gym (and many good people), but tired of battling their unbelievably aggressive billing department several times a year and haggling over dated fee policies. Very similar experiences to Lindsay's review. I cringe every year at calling their billing department to make simple changes that always turn into them layering on fees. Every opportunity you give them (whether adding/taking kids off membership for summer swim lessons or wishing to put a few month hold on a membership due to work travel), they layer on fees and/or tell you that you needed to tell them 30 days ago (for "processing time"). They recently wanted $40 a month to put my membership on hold for 2-3 months, all to "hold" my 9-year "benefit" of paying $138/month instead of $145 for new members. That was the end for me. Another trick they like to play is requiring members to jump through archaic hoops to change anything - like requiring you to come into their office to sign some form from the 1990's. I often had to give up in those circumstances, for it was infeasible for me to get over there on a weekday during their limited business office hours. Finally, over my 9 years there, the quality of offering is deteriorating quickly and membership fees are going up (monthly and the regular hassle fees like above). Class offerings have gone from good to below average. They still have breadth in classes, but whether you like yoga, cycling, cardio classes, etc, you'll easily find higher quality instruction at other studios/gyms across Denver. read more

Nice Cherry Creek location, but nothing special to justify the price point. The clientele and atmosphere are quite "established" lol. There are ladies and men's only hot tub/saunas which are nice. Also, the pool is enjoyable in the summer. Not a good value price wise...expensive fees to join and no justifiable reason to pay so much monthly. Save a ton and go to Lifetime for the same type of amenities and more clientele diversity. read more

Recently purchased by Lifetime fitness. Seem to be aiming for a younger membership by installing lots of screens (some with advertisements) disco lights in the spin studio and group fitness areas and piping Muzak throughout the club. Some popular classes have been eliminated and longtime instructors have left. Dues will be increasing by about 40%. read more

My wife and I have been members here for 4 years now and are still happy we joined. Like lots of families, I'm sure, we were pulled in by the outdoor pool and summer-only family membership and have stayed. The pool(s), of course, remain an attractor, for summer kids fun and swim lessons and serious workouts. Probably the best gym pool I have experienced. But the reason we are sure we like it are large number of classes early in the morning - we can't attend classes that go later than 7am. While sometimes the overall variety could be higher (better not-hot 6am yoga? 6am "bodypump?"), it's pretty nice to be able to choose from 2-3 options. And since the remodel, when a large open area with plentiful free equipment (kettlebells!), rowing and stair machines, and a "box-lite" were added, there are alot of open options. While you'll never do a true crossfit WOD there, it's pretty easy to put together a great high-intensity workout when you want to. I would be seriously remiss in not mentioning the custodial and maintenance staff in this review. They do their job extremely well, always smile back when I say good morning, and go out of their way to make just a normal trip to the gym a nice experience. They are a major reason to belong to CCAC. I hope they know they are appreciated. So, while I average about 3 visits to the gym a week the experience has almost always been a great one and I would recommend it. And since a proper review of anything always includes suggestions about what can be done better, here are some of mine: 1) The only issue I have ever had with a resource oversubscription was with the outdoor pool (indoor pool is short and too chlorinated for my taste). When the master's team is swimming, there are just not enough lanes and non-master's folks get kicked out. I'd be on the master's team myself if the workouts were better timed so I understand, but it's something to consider. 2) As mentioned in a number of other reviews, the price keeps going up. It's not out of whack yet for what we think we get out of belonging to this kind of gym with alot of amenities and classes, but it is getting close. As the price goes up, it starts to look reasonable to join a cheap gym for weights and ellipticals and find good drop-in yoga, crossfit, or swimming when you want it. read more

I have to move my review over here as well, to much complaining over locker room nudity. Unfortunately, it is a locker room people and there is a big generation gap between members. Just divert your eyes and deal with it. The staff are amazing and friendly. I signed up over e-mail and cell phone so I never got a proper tour of the premises. I arrived at 5am for my workout and asked for a quick tour and was immediately helped and it wasn't a half a$$ed tour, it was as complete as it gets, questions answered and more. I was very happy I made the blind leap with this place. The pools are amazing, so are the locker rooms. I like walking around not fearing what disease I will pick up from the equipment, the pool, or the locker room floor. read more

Played competitive squash for many years. Have been in clubs all over the eastern and midwestern part of the US - many of the best in the country. CFNC ranks high on this list and 1st among "commercial" clubs. Extremely well managed from GM down. Extraordinary professional trainers in every area. Pilates team themselves great athletes. No pressing need to expand, and they decide to add a third to the expanse of this great facility. Beautifully executed. Love the joint. Thank you! read more

Beware. Had I to do it over again, I would've liked to know upfront that a cancel contract fee is $450. No exceptions. My husband has a broken ankle and hasn't been able to use it, plus we're moving over a half hour drive away from the club. So, know that if 'life happens' and you have to move for any reason, they will charge you a boatload to cancel. I was expecting maybe a $250 fee to break a contract. This $450 amount is ludicrous. For a higher end club, I'd expect a little higher end way of doing business. read more
