If I could give less than 1 star I certainly would. Just got yet another email saying dues were increasing , but "thank you for your loyalty" was the first line we just got an email saying our dues were increasing yet again even though they sent an email one month ago saying new members would be charged more but current members dues would not changed. I save EVERYTHING in writing because Lifetime has lied so many times. Listen, I love the group fitness classes and that's the only reason I've stayed for 3 years but now it's overpriced, overcrowded, understaffed and the "luxury" bathrooms are missing soap and basic paper towels half the time. Many other complaints but I would steer clear of this place. Also, when you complain, it's promptly removed from the Facebook page and no one helps to really fix your issues they just deflect. I've attached the photo from almost exactly a month ago saying our dues were not changing. I emailed the area director about it and I attached his response. It's very clear he doesn't care about retaining loyal members, he only cares about making more money from new ones. Oh and your customer service at the front desk SUCKS. These people are NOT friendly (besides maybe 2 ladies). I've seen so many reviews saying the same yet these folks still work the front desk. So... Went to the spa to try out for first time. I gotta say I really liked the personality of my technician but upon further inspection of my SNS manicure it's just awful. Two days and chipping already...I paid 150$ for a pedicure and manicure and this is with my first time discount.... WAY overpriced and quality horrendous... Calling today to see if they can fix it... EDIT: they saw me today and the new technician said that they weren't even done properly. She did fix them for the most part but they are a bit streaky, which she did apologize for. Again, loved the tech, but I definitely will not be back for services... Hopefully they last longer this time. I'll stick with my regular place where I have nothing but good things to say ( they were renovating...) read more

The amenities here are amazing and it is a good outlet for social interactions. However , some of the staff are nice but some are just extremely rude. For example: Before I signed up with lifetime, on my tour I asked one of the managers how the company felt about filming my workouts as a online coach and a freelance personal trainer. He said they have a lot of experience with people come in and filming content so there should be no issue. I start working out a few days later in the gym area and I notice a lot of people do record and I was thrilled! As the days go on, I start asking the staff when the slowest time of the week was for the gym so I could record some of my workouts and I went on a day they advised me. FYI: They knew I was planning on recording. At this point, i'm a week and a few days into a membership and there was about 30 minutes until closing with about 5 members in the gym and a manger came up and became extremely rude telling me I couldn't film. I explained I was new and I was sorry and I immediately put my camera away and she kept having the nastiest attitude and talking over me. I was embarrassed. Thankfully , another member stood up for me because he noticed how hard she was on me. She then continued to be rude to him. I completely understand if maybe the other staff just didn't want to tell me no and maybe it is against the policy, regardless a "do you mind putting the camera away? It's against our policy , thank you" would've gone a lot further than an attitude. My last problem with the staff is i'm not allowed book bags in the gym area. Although it would be nice to hold onto my belt , wrist straps and other safety equipment for when I lift heavy , I don't need it. What I do need is my inhaler for my asthma. I explained and they told me to carry it around which I wasn't opposed too. Regardless, this is a great facility with plenty of nice amenities. But for the price I pay a month, I have higher standards from staff. I do not for see my membership lasting longer than a month. read more

Don't really know where to start but if your reading this skip the gym, it's ok to once in a while especially with this gym. First off the gym itself is a very good gym, it has your cardio such as basketball or tennis and then your strength training such as squat racks and such, it has everything but the one thing that ruined this whole experience is the dog water service you receive at the front desk, you better hope you walk into this gym fully knowing where and what everything is because when you ask the front desk who hate their job as much as answering any questions they will give you a very bland answer. I've been a member at this location since 2018 and at first everything was solid. I convinced several friends to become members. I joined originally to play basketball as they were the only gym in the area with a court at the time and not only that they had the nicest court I had seen. Since covid they have made it clear they don't care about their members who play basketball. They hold parties on the basketball courts and kids camp and do not clean up after so the courts are dirty with gum and food. The goals themselves have parts missing and some are crooked. Back in Sept 21 they shut the courts down to refinish the floors for the first time since 2019 so I thought things were trending up. They painted some pickleball lines on the court and got some rollaway nets to expand the use of the space during down basketball times however those were rarely used. Now they have decided to get rid of one of the basketball courts to put in a permanent pickleball court. Tell me how this makes sense. They have 20+ tennis courts in the facility that could be converted if pickleball is so popular. But with camps and parties having one basketball court is wildly unfair to the constant stream of hoopers that come through here on the daily and have come to train and play pick-up for the last 5 years. The claim is they did because of court usage. That cant be true. Those courts are in use from 6am until well after 9pm daily and they are cramped during the summer when camp uses one court from 8am to 6pm. I've been paying $425 a month for my family of 7 for the past 5 years plus $110 for the basketball league 4 times a year but I have cancelled my membership and will not return to this club because of this decision. read more

The South Charlotte club is so dissapointing compared to the Lifetime in Harrison/Whiteplains NY. What I have experienced in the Pilates program is so unprofessional and discriminatory. I have made multiple complaints to management about the Pilates instructors Taunting jealous demeanor. Nothing was done and management would not respond as to correct the instructors behavior. So I stopped attending the classes. I missed Pilates and thought I would return and avoid (not take classes with her) the disgruntled instructor. I met with Nelly whom I decided to take private and group classes with. We made a schedule, she took a picture of my debit card with her phone and promised to erase once she charged my card. Shortly thereafter leaving the gym, She sends me a text stating I'm not a good fit for the program after our discussion. I had no idea what she talking about and so quite naturally I questioned her text message to me and she ignored my text. Im disappointed that Lifetime would allow the employees to treat members in this manner. And they will never give you Corporate email contact when requested. Totally unethical read more

This is probably the biggest facility you will ever walk into for a workout. But also sadly one of the smallest most poorly organized fitness spaces you will find in Charlotte because the actual gym inside only takes up 10% of the facility. The equipment itself is mediocre at best and there is no effort put in to improve the space or make changes because they don't care to have a top of the line gym. What they really care about is selling you way overpriced services and supplements that you don't need. If you want amenities come here if you want a great place to workout and nothing else I'd recommend any gym other than this one read more

Cathy Knauss is a 5-star motivator and ass-kicker. She is the best at what she does because she knows what she's doing, loves what she does and brings an abundance of enthusiasm to the room. Just when you think you can't go another second, you find yourself achieving more than you could ever do on your own. Cathy's classes are anything but routine, as she is always developing new patterns, and it seems like most of them are improvised. No matter what class you choose, Cardio kickboxing, Striker, Core Blast or TCX, you will never find another trainer with her skill and energy. There's only one problem. Cathy was a hidden gem, that isn't hidden anymore. To paraphrase Yogi Berra , "No one goes to her classes anymore, they're always too crowded." (For you youngsters out there - google him, you'll get it.) Much like an entertainer, Cathy responds to the size of the audience. Dynamic, Intense. Riveting. Adjectives aren't enough to describe her. Had a tour today of the new facility. It is state of the art and very spacious. Everything is there - all the equipment, saunas, steam rooms, yoga studios and tremendously large pools. I just need access to a pool so that i can exercise in a non weight bearing place. That was my entire reason for stopping by. Unfortunately, they don't offer any type of membership for just the pool. The price that I was quoted was $129 per month for a month by month membership to the entire club. $119. if I sign a year's membership agreement. I admire the cleanliness and the really hip vibe that is there. They have personal trainers that are available for additional fees. And to boot, they have a cafe that can fill your tummy with goodies after you burn off calories. It is a spectacular facility and I am likely going to take the plunge, just for the pool. read more

Joined online. Went for my first visit 1 week after opening. I was expecting a few growing pains as a new location, what i found was much worse. There was a very nasty woman fighting with 2 different customers as I came in. She then turned her bad attitude to me. She informed me that there was no one to give me a tour for a couple of hours and they were out of new member gift bags for the premium members who joined 2 months prior to opening. If she was not so rude and condescending I might have a different opinion. I then went to the activity desk and she followed me there advising them not to assist as she already told me to come back another day for a tour and in 2 weeks for my welcome bag. This gym is almost perfect. Almost. Pros: pools especially the outside pool is amazing. They have free child care while you exercise, 20 tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), a full line of fitness machines, free classes and probably the best spin class instructor in town (Jared). Did I mention the bar(s)? Cons: if you are price sensitive this is not the club for you, I suggest fitness connection. Also, when something breaks it takes too long to correct. For example, pretty much all of the treadmill machines TV connections are malfunctioning or have failed. Management may want to change or retrain their engineer otherwise this could be a long term problem, not what you'd expect for the price tag. read more

Lifetime Mathews was a great gym. It had everything people wanted. They closed the location in Mathews just so they could cater to the super rich. When they closed Lifetime Matthews, I got an email saying I could join the new Lifetime on Providence for the low low price of $130 a month! It's really sad that they abandoned loyal customers for the super wealthy. A lot of us had no choice be to join a Planet Fitness. Ugh. Hopefully we'll get another decent gym in Matthews someday. read more

I was a member at Life Time Charlotte for almost a year and recently canceled my membership due to it transforming into more of a fancy childcare/social facility than a gym. TL;DR: If you're there to workout and lift weights, go somewhere else because your workouts won't be great. If you have children that need to go to the gym with you, you're there for group fitness classes or want a social/country club type of feel, it's a great gym. Following are some pros and cons: Pros: -The spa is good, depending on who you go to. Ashley (esthetician) is fabulous. -Most of the staff are all super nice (note: I have no experience with staff working in Tennis as I don't play tennis). Robert in operations is particularly wonderful, always checking on members and offering up a smile. -Lots of services. It's like the Den of the Lotus once you're in there... -The Outdoor pool is very nice and well-kept -If you do classes, they have a good variety and great instructors (no personal experience, but friends have told me this) -Great locker room amenities like a steam room, deodorant, lotion, makeup wipes, etc. Cons: -Price. I can't justify paying $200 a month for a gym (cost for me and my husband) when it doesn't meet my needs for a basic weight training workout. As stated above, if you have kids, this may be worth it (though it costs more for kids). -This location is lacking as far as actual fitness equipment goes. They have mainly Life Fitness and cardio machines, with duplicates of random machines that aren't "core" for most people while they do not have some super basic ones such as incline chest press. Other, "lower level" Lifetimes have about 3-4x the amount of equipment that this one does, and they have Hammer Strength, more benches, more dumbbells, etc. -With limited equipment to start with, it does not help that some of the group fitness trainers regularly block off half of the fitness floor to teach an ALPHA class, taking up all of the squat racks for their students to do crunches in, while people who want to actually squat are unable to. -There are small children and young teens EVERYWHERE at this place. They offer a robust kids program and all-day summer camps, so the place is just teeming with them. Great if you have kids, horrible if you're trying to work out. Children and adolescents are supposedly not supposed to be in the locker rooms/on the fitness floor, but they are. -It takes 10-15 minutes to find a parking spot at peak times -Many things are not included once you're in i.e. Pilates, pool (depending on when you joined--I was grandfathered in, but heard they're charging now), court time, etc. read more

I have mixed feelings about LifeTime. It's a nice place and have a lot to offer. Atmosphere is nice and the pool is gorgeous, you feel like in the resort. It is quite expensive, but if you do visit frequently you can easily get your moneys worth. However, if you have a child or you need to have any kind of communication back from the facility itself, it is very hard to get it. For example, I decided to celebrate my son's birthday at the pool there, it took several people to just take my "application" and my payment to reserve a spot (yes, you pay in advance the whole $250). Then, I was promised someone will contact me regarding party arrangements, well no one did. I called multiple times trying to get somebody to talk to me about the party, all I would get was that the coordinator will call me back or that she is unavailable right now and the number I was given for coordinator was out of service. A day before the party, I received an email from coordinator asking me some generic questions. I replied with the information that was needed and listed the questions that I had for two months now, but did not get response to everything asked. Well, party was a hit anyway. But I still don't understand the purpose of coordinator and why it took me two months just to get an email with not in service phone number. The club has great activities for children and an email was sent out with the enrollment form for several activities that are offered at the gym for the kids. Within two days I filled out a form and emailed back as per instructions. Just to make sure, I also handed the paper form at the kids area. No response, no email, no phone call for a month. I still took my kid at one of offered activities, to find out that my son is not enrolled. You can only imagine how upsetting it is to a four-year-old. It was hard for me to believe that all the spots were filled within 48 hours and no one had time to email me back. So, if you're not enrolling for the children's activities and you are not planning on eating at their disgusting café, then go ahead and enroll. It might be a nice place to work out after all. There is truly NOTHING like Lifetime Fitness. I have waited years for a Lifetime to open in Charlotte, after going in Kansas City. You feel like you have been in a luxury resort for hours. It is so clean and has everything you need- towels, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, razors, hair dryers, q-tips, hairspray, deodorant, mouthwash..everything. Not to even mention how incredible all the group classes are. There are so many services offered at this establishment. The cafe has quality healthy food at reasonable prices. The Kids Academy is amazing and so fun. My kids can finally have fun while I have alone work-out time!! I can leave them for 3 hours at a time and work out, or go to the hair salon inside or get a massage, sit in the cafe and read, etc. Spending time at Lifetime is truly a rejuvenating experience. It's like a gift that you give yourself!!! read more

The club is great and so is Spa. BUT, when spa AND Sauna are both not in use, you don't get any compensation! I understand that there is supply shortage, but I do not get that there is no email about it, nobody answers the emails nor calls you back about it. All they offer is to put the membership on hold, but you don't get your money back! Customer service should be better than this. read more

One of the best fitness facilities I've ever been to. It's more like a resort. Only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the basketballs. One of the reasons I joined here and not Planet Fitness or one of those other fitness chains is the basketball courts, which are top notch. Their balls are the worst I've ever seen, though. Of the few balls they have, more than 1/2 are women's balls, and the men's balls they have out are flat and in terrible shape. For what I'm paying for my membership here, I would expect much higher quality, better maintained basketballs. These are not even usable. Very disappointed. read more

I'm so disappointed I had to cancel my membership today. I've been a member at this location since it opened, and it really saddens me to leave but I can't take it anymore. It is managed so poorly, they removed one of the basketball courts for PICKLE BALL?! Today I went in and couldn't even play ball because the one court left had some organized thing going on. Why use 1/2 basketball courts for pickle ball ? There are like 30 tennis courts and all those studios take one of them ! It's ridiculous me and so many others only use the gym because it's the convenient basketball gym in the area but unlike when it opened you can't even enjoy it anymore. The balls are cheap, the courts and rims and nets are damaged, and now you can barely play because there is only one court. I'm clearly a big basketball person but that's not even the only thing that has gone downhill. The spacing is horrendous, they always have terrible private sessions taking up all the equipment all day, and they continue to Jack up the price while never offering any new accommodations or even just running the place better so it deserves that check. There isn't even a cold tub, and the hot tub or steam room is always out of order. And every night when I go to shower the rags (which are normally there) aren't even replaced anymore so I have to go without. read more

99% of the employees are amazing , they are all very professional , very friendly and helpful no matter where you need to go , The front desk, the membership, The lifeguards or swim instructors ( specially Zaria: she is just a sweetheart ) and all the yoga or any class instructors are kind and make you feel welcome , I wish Rodolfo was more patient in his yoga classes and didn't get annoyed if somebody is a few minutes late, it is really a hassle to find a parking spot and walk all the way from behind of there parking lot with two little ones who walk slower than a turtle and I think he s very young woth no kids yet and Probably he will appreciate when he has his own kids and knows that these kids are very unpredictable, and that's why Lindsey and Miki s classes are always full , Because they ALWAYS smile and welcome you to their classes !!! i appreciate every single employee in the gym and by just mentioning a few names here , I hope the corporation or higher authorities will start looking into their employees and this branch in Charlotte: Christian at the front desk is such a big help! Kalloway and Amanda in day care , Megan in operation are all extremely nice and sweet I am always ready to help an answer your questions! The only person who has been kinda rude is a woman in the cafe, she asks women to go to the nursing room upstairs if she sees them nursing their babies, these women are totally covering themselves and their infant babies, somebody has to have a talk with her, and stop her ! she can get very mean and possessive , I have seen her do that to two women ! Why am I constantly seeing people parking in handicap parking spaces at Lifetime Fitness, which has been my gym for sometime? I have seen these people get out of their vehicles and work out at the gym and they clearly aren't handicapped. The facility itself is definitely 5-star, and comparable to anything you'd find at a Ritz Carlton resort. It just opened, and there are the expected glitches, but all the staff I've encountered have been phenomenal. Friends and neighbors are ditching the Y and the tennis membership at the country club in favor of this facility. So, why the 3 stars? Crowding, and yoga. Crowding - it just opened and it's January. This should resolve itself by March, but the insanity will resume when the outdoor pools open. (Those pools are quite something!) Yoga. Their philosophy is that everyone should find their own pace. Great concept! So, welcoming! Great! It's all wonderful, right up until newbie you enters your first class, and have no clue what is going on. The instructors I've had did not demonstrate the poses. They gave verbal instructions. I copied people around me, not knowing whether I was positioned correctly or not. The introduction to yoga class is literally meant as one class. The teacher spent a few minutes on each practice, introducing the concepts behind them. Then, you're expected to walk into any yoga class, and function - without hurting yourself. The classes are packed, and there is only one instructor, so it's unlikely that she'll be able to check on you. Love the facility, especially as it's all shiny and new right now. We have a 12 month membership. We'll see if we still love it in a year. Also, who decided to put the weight room above the spa? The sound of heavy weights crashing thunderously overhead is not conducive to relaxation. read more

This place is amazing. Gym membership for 2 adults and 2 kids is $260, but way worth it. The kids academy is free and holds kids up to 3 hours with awesome classes. I'm writing this review on Luke Seagroves, however, I will start by saying that Lifetime Athletic is an amazing facility with so much to offer. Top notch all the way! My family joined in January and that is when I decided it was to time to take charge of my health. I'm very grateful to have Luke Seagroves as my personal trainer. Luke has gone beyond designing awesome workouts, he has invested in my life! He truly cares about his clients. With a degree in Exercise Science and several certifications, I have learned so much from Luke. He inspires me every day to be better than the day before. I don't always show up with my best, however, Luke gives me his. He pushes me and motivates me to heights I didn't think possible. The workouts he designs specifically for me can be really tough and challenging, but they are improving my mind as well as my body!! I'm very happy with my results so far and I look forward to reaching my full potential this summer! Good trainers are hard to find so I am grateful and blessed to have such an energetic, knowledgeable and very fun one!!! read more

I wish I liked this place more but I just don't. The facility is clean, well kept and the staff is all super nice. This place is huge, has just about everything you could possibly need in a gym including a spa. Considering it's size, it lacks space when it comes to the actual gym part. It is missing a good amount of equipment it's counterpart in Matthews that is a fraction of the cost has. On a typical day you will find yourself waiting to use equipment most facilities that cost this much would have multiples of. If it wasn't for the basketball courts and the close proximity to my house I'd probably use a different gym. Some of the rooms for the classes are bigger than the actual weight area. It has some great equipment for Cardio, and a nice functional weight area. It would be nice given the lack of standard weight equipment that they had levels of memberships for those of us that will never step foot in a class or the spa. The best part of the membership is I get to use the other facility with much more and far superior equipment. For me, the cost exceeds the value. Unfortunately not many other options close to my house. Going to be up to you, what your goals are, and what your looking for in a gym if it's the right fit for you. read more

Basically this is not a gym, athletic club, or a workout facility! This is downright a damn Resort! I will start with the men's locker room because the lobby area speaks for itself, This plush luxury area we call the men's room is like the country club locker rooms. You have the spa/jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna ‍ listen the bathrooms are even amazing lol. The showers amazing. Now let's talk about upstairs area for weight lifting, great space for all your high intensity workouts. Classes are very intense and very effective my fiancé and I favorite is Cathys CORE class this is nothing short of intense and very effective in terms of your core. It works every muscle I burn 1000 cals every time I go. The yoga studio is great but the instructors are not my favorite. Most importantly it has a great cafe area with a bar, the outdoor pool speaks for itself and the spa is incredible I can't say enough about the staff and the welcoming feeling you get when you come in and they keep it very clean!
