I have a girlfriend who works in the building and I have reason to stop in with her most Fridays to have lunch and visit. This cafe has been a bit of a work in progress since it opened on menu options, staffing, etc., thus my delay until writing a review until now. I wanted to understand the groove a bit. It gets 4 stars vs 5 simply for maybe the identity crisis that it was sorting through for a bit. With that being said, the menu has indeed changed from what it once was, but this streamlining I think has made this place a better easy quality value to the customers it serves. Every single item I have ever had has been prepared fresh on the spot and is really quite good. Salads, sandwiches, soup and now all day breakfast (LOVE THIS!) is what the menu is about. You order and pay at a counter and they will bring you your food when it is prepared...on real plates if you are eating in! Today I had a Caesar salad and asked for two over-hard fried eggs on top. Not a problem, they are eager to please with the tweaks and preferences I sometimes make. Two Caesar salads prepared with fresh greens and one with two eggs on top came to like $14. I find that an incredibly value for the portion size and quality. They have indoor and outdoor seating (with covered umbellas when sunny if you wish) and the ambiance is casual and easy. Although I am failing to know any of the names of the staff, everyone is always so nice, welcoming, kind and proud of their "little engine that could" establishment. They make me feel like they appreciate my business. So maybe not the spot one would go out of their way to visit, but if you are in the area, I would absolutely tell you to come visit. The kids' meals were supposed to come with Nutella, but they were completely out. We asked for fries inside one of the pitas, but they were never added. We ordered lamb and received beef instead, and one of our plate meals was missing the pita altogether. The food that did arrive wasn't good. The couscous and rice were both dry, bland, and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The drink station wasn't any better. Both the Dr Pepper and Root Beer were out of syrup. What concerned me most, though, was the lack of food safety. I watched an employee handling raw shrimp skewers with bare hands, and I also saw staff eating French fries in the kitchen while food was being prepared. Those are things customers should never have to witness. I understand that restaurants can have an off day, but this wasn't just one mistake. It was a series of issues involving food quality, order accuracy, inventory, and sanitation. Unfortunately, I won't be returning unless major improvements are made.

If you get the full size ham steak breakfast, you will likely have to take some to go. It is huge! The overall price you pay may not be as low as a couple of the mainstay breakfast chains or casino cafes players' card deals, but the flavor and potions of food and the wonderful staff make a difference. Unfortunately, the Summerlin location specifically has an issue with their P.O.S. system going down - a lot. I would say 1/3 times I'm there, they can't use the app in-store AND you can't order ahead. It's an annoyance that the company really needs to sort out ASAP.
