After you get down the stairs or take the conveyer belt you are confronted by a large super market. Morrison's is like a Vons or a Ralph's (grocery stores in the U.S.A). Morrison's is a big super market with a variety of groceries at reasonable prices. The cashier was kind. Overall my experience at Morrison's was great. Everything was fairly priced and easy to find.

It's on par with Tesco I heard, and I've been here quite a couple of times. It seems that if you do self-checkout, you will have to pay for a plastic bag? And if you go to a cashier, you don't? That's the impression I am getting. To get alcohol, and I got my bottle of grey goose from here, it was a 20cl bottle with a cocktail shaker for 10.20 pounds. They sell a variety of food items, from eggs, to bread, to baked goods, to soda, juice, toilet paper, soap, basically anything you need, besides shot glasses :P. They have people walking around the store, it was kinda awkward when one of the workers was asking me if i was okay... heh

A full-size Tesco that probably runs more than 200,000 square feet and is pretty chock full of all the things you need to operate a household. Groceries, produce, meats, cheeses, sweets, soda, beer, spirits, cleaning supplies, you name it! The shop was pretty well organized and the prices were easy to find and I think are quite competitive. Plenty of tills ("registers" in American) and the cashier that helped me was quite pleasant and friendly. Very large parking area and I'm sure there's a petrol station out there somewhere.

Hit it at peak time and the queue can go to the back of the shop. This doesn't mean a long wait, because they have lots of tills open at this time (in fact, I've had a longer wait at quieter times) but it does mean that almost a third of the shop is unbrowseable. Yes, that is a word, ok? (It's not). Always worth popping in after 9pm to see if they've got any almond croissants reduced to 20p. There is also a large section devoted to cake-baking - presumably to cater for the Walpole Park/Carluccios yummymummy brigade - so if you need coloured icing at 10.45pm on a tuesday in South Ealing, you're in luck.

Most of the products are a few pence more expensive that the Tesco Metro down the road, but that's the price of convenience. I went straight for the veggie bibimbap, which was topped with a perfectly fried egg, sesame seeds, and a Korean chili sauce to stir in. You can also choose a side item or two from the refrigerated section, which they are happy to heat up for you if you like (think dumplings, kimchi, etc.). I felt like family, dining from beautiful crockery with my chopsticks and chatting with the owner, who made me feel right at home. A perfect break from cooking. Thank you for the lovely experience - I will be back soon!

This has been my local supermarket for 20 or so years as I live so close, I really don't have much…read morechoice but to shop here. Recently (during 2011) they've put in several scan and serve yourself counters thereby reducing staff on the tills. There is ALWAYS a queue at the few tills which are actually manned by humans. They have no buzzers at the tills to call for help if there is a query and often you end up standing there for ages whilst the cashier hollers across the store for a supervisor to come over. This is really quite frustrating, whether you're the customer that's waiting to be served and there's a problem with a bar code or something or if you're waiting in that queue and all the other queues are moving faster when you've already unloaded your trolley or basket. . They have a very annoying habit of moving things around every few months or so, from their point of view I guess it's to make you wander round even more and pick up other things on the way, from my point of view it makes me not bother searching for the item I wanted and less sales for them! . The staff are generally helpful and I've got to recognise some of the most helpful staff who I will ask for help if something is missing from the shelf that I need as I know they'll go out of their way to go check. . The staff on the tills are friendly, seems like they've had customer service training in recent times as they always ask how you are and have a little chit chat which until a year or so ago never happened. I remember feeling like a nuisance at times when I shopped there in the past with staff looking like they had been slapped in the face they definitely ALL make a real effort to seem cheerful these days. . There are products that we used to purchase here regularly in the past which are no longer stocked by the store which I can understand from their point of view but means we have to go elsewhere to purchase and it usually means we'll pick up other things there instead of at Sainsbury's.

I prefer this store to many other branches of Waitrose, the store has a good feel to it, and it is in a useful location within a large shopping centre, meaning you can pick up essentials or even do a weekly shop while picking up the rest of your shopping across the mall. They have handheld scanners at the front of the store, meaning you can scan as you walk around the score, or use the QR code for mobile scanning. This is a handy feature more and more stores are offering now, but Waitrose seem to do it well, rather than playing hide and seek with the QR codes (I'm talking about you Sainsbury's) or forgetting about a mobile app altogether (I'm talking about you Tesco) Obviously, the prices are slightly higher than other supermarkets as Waitrose is a more premium brand, but they do have some products where the pricing is reasonable/competitive, the free-from range could be much better, which is the main reason I prefer Marks and Spencer at the other end of the mall. The staff are friendly enough, as typical of John Lewis Partnership stores. 4* - A very good supermarket and a great, unique addition to Westfield Stratford City.
It was interesting visiting an English grocery store. First of all this particular store was…read moresmaller than the ones in the United States. Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

The family and I were vacationing in South Kensington and this store was ideally located. It's a grocery store that has all the essentials... and more. And by "more", I mean seemingly random stuff like an aisle of non-branded shirts... and a convenience station which apparently provides shoe repair? Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.

They did have a pretty large selection in most areas I looked at the store including with desserts, yoghurts (Pots and Co!), to-go food and fruit juices, the latter was actually quite reasonably priced for a freshly squeezed juice. The store did seem to have an annoying habit of making announcements regularly, it felt like I couldn't walk down an aisle without "DING DONG DING DONG", eventually I muttered to myself "Welcome to Waitrose Canary Wharf please note... announcement for..." etc, I get they do need to do this but so constantly is just really irritating. The café area could have been larger however but I was overall impressed with this store in a useful location for Canary Wharf's shopping centres and tube/DLR stations. 4*
