Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

The family and I were vacationing in South Kensington and this store was ideally located. It's a grocery store that has all the essentials... and more. And by "more", I mean seemingly random stuff like an aisle of non-branded shirts... and a convenience station which apparently provides shoe repair? Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.

After you get down the stairs or take the conveyer belt you are confronted by a large super market. Morrison's is like a Vons or a Ralph's (grocery stores in the U.S.A). Morrison's is a big super market with a variety of groceries at reasonable prices. The cashier was kind. Overall my experience at Morrison's was great. Everything was fairly priced and easy to find.

They have a variety of fresh food/produce as well as some frozen goodies. You can buy household things as well. I always come here to grocery shop because it's so close to Ealing Broadway tube, and is just a bus ride from my flat. The cashiers are always very polite and will greet you when it's your turn. I thought it was kinda weird that you had bag your own items though, we don't do that in the US. But yeah, I basically pick up everything food related here.

Fortunately it's one of the larger Metros and there are a lot of tills and a fast moving self-service till section. It has the all the usual Tesco stuff: a sandwich section by the door for lunchtimers in a hurry, a deli counter, a bakery (I recommend the walnut bread), a whole aisle of alcohol and a CD/DVD corner. Only plush stuffed dolls that were like £4. However, it did redeem itself when I found both american popcorn and cheerios on sale. And let me tell you, Honeynut Cheerios will go a long way in redeeming something in my eyes. If it was closer (aka not a 2 hour busride from my flat) I would totally hit it up for cheap groceries. A full-size Tesco that probably runs more than 200,000 square feet and is pretty chock full of all the things you need to operate a household. Groceries, produce, meats, cheeses, sweets, soda, beer, spirits, cleaning supplies, you name it! The shop was pretty well organized and the prices were easy to find and I think are quite competitive. Plenty of tills ("registers" in American) and the cashier that helped me was quite pleasant and friendly. Very large parking area and I'm sure there's a petrol station out there somewhere.

They have so many brands, wide aisles and well displayed items. They have a great variety of healthy snack alternatives and gluten free options, which I need. They also have lots of different peanut butters to choose from which is fab. The fresh food options are good too. Just like in the US, there are lots of hot dishes and cold meal options to choose from in the self-serve area. Healthy options and some favourites, like mac & cheese and even cod bites!
