Hussar's is a nice little independent coffee shop located in Hampton Wick. It's clear that the…read moreowner has put in the effort to differentiate his place from the other cafe down the road. For instance, the decor's nicer. It feels just that little bit more upmarket, and, therefore, nicer to sit down and linger in. It also helps that there're books and newspapers for you to read as well. Another point, he offers two roasts of coffee. I usually go for the Italian, which tastes all right. Allso, he has a loyalty scheme as well, where if you buy seven coffees, the eighth is on the house. All these little touches you'd expect from a high street coffee shop, found in a small independent one in a rather quiet part of town (compared to the area across the bridge!). The owner is friendly and chatty. I think he used to be in sales prior to opening up the coffee shop so there's a danger you might find yourself in there chatting for quite some time the first couple of times you're in there. And, speaking as someone who desperately needed a pick-me-up after a late night of unexpected boozing, Hussar's bacon sandwiches were a lifesaver! I've given this place three out of five stars because I've had better tasting coffee elsewhere (usually in central London). Still, for the area, this is pretty much the best you can get, and for a not too bad price (£2.20, if memory serves).

My No1 place for getting a coffee now! Wayne the owner is a lovely chap, warm and friendly and he…read morealso knows a thing or two about making THE LOVELIEST coffee! In fact it's probably the best coffee I've had, and I've had a lot! You could always just ask for a tea instead, then watch his face, priceless. Seriously recommend this place if you're nearby, they also do some lovely food if you get in quick enough!

Although Paul is part of a chain, the food, pastries (done with a French twist) and coffee tastes fresher and less mass produced than its rivals. I popped in here to try one of their macaroons, which was winking at me suggestively in the shop window. These are the multi coloured confectionaries which have a soft biscuity shell and a creamy filling that practically melt as they hit your lips. The one that I tried was very good; not quite a sublime as the macaroons in Harrods (ohh, get me!), but tasty nonetheless. I also ordered a skinny vanilla latte which came without the vanilla. When I pointed out this to the staff, they made me a new one, which I thought was very nice, albeit a bit wasteful, because the old untouched latte got chucked. It was a very well made coffee, so I might just add this place to my list of local coffee establishments that are worth a trip.

All the pastries were lined up and they even had ready made sandwiches that looked delicious. We ordered tea and two food items because we were starving. We got the apricot tart it was literally amazing and a mozzarella sandwich. We really enjoyed the place.
