Welcome Lidl!! I am soo excited that they have opened in Merrick! Beautiful layout, well lit clean store. Friendly employees and great customer service! You cannot beat their produce section(my personal favorite). I was not aware that they also carry non food seasonal items. According to the signs, those items are updated weekly. Download the Lidl App and be rewarded with coupons and more! I look forward to returning on a regular basis!

Prices are low... Especially with the 10$ for $30 coupon

Leeeeeedill? Lie-Dill? Don't know how to pronounce it, don't care. LIDL is the new German grocery on the block, that bought out Best Market. It's -- vastly-- different than last year. But before I start picking them apart let's start with the positive.... The GOOD: - Bright, well lit, open until 10pm EVERYday! - Like their namesake, prices are shockingly low for certain items. I don't eat beef, but occasionally cook for those that do. Their base prices aren't terrible, but they'll put grass fed, organic steaks on sale. On one of my runs I grabbed single cyrovac'd sirloins for $2.50! Strip Steaks are about $5 each on sale (also grass fed). Store brand organic tortilla chips are $2.19 before any coupons, which beats out WF/365 and stop and shop. - Meat is overall good quality - Nothing is terrible but nothing is AMAZING! - You'll come across some absolutely strange international food. Why not try something different? I bought spaetzle last time! - On premises bakery with small batch items. - Fair amount of organic options (just not produce) - Store brand items keep things cheap but they carry brands I'd normally buy such as KIND, Health-aide(kombucha), Oikos etc - Private label/Store brand craft beers aren't terrible. Brewed in NOVA. 6 packs under $8. The BAD: - No deli, No fish market, No fresh prepped salads or juices like best market had - Prepackaged stuff everrrrrrywhere. Think trader joes, but not as "specialty". - Weird home-goods section? Why not just have more grocery? I don't need to buy cheap cutting boards and off brand grandma flip flops. - Never enough checkout lines open The UGLY: - Stock slips out the door faster than a teenager pocketing condoms @ CVS. You'll see lots of empty shelves if you like to shop super late or super early. - Produce does not last that long. I've taken home a few things that went moldy real quick so just keep an eye out - Gets busy/crowded - Their frozen fish selection is mostly Salmon, Shrimp and Tilapia (ew). Scallops looked ok but would rather buy fresh. - Great prices for flowers/plants but they're mostly dead. Why would you go here?: Despite it's limitations, lidl absolutely serves a purpose. If I'm having folks over for small (COVID friendly, promise!) gathering, I could grab a bunch of chips, cheese, sopressata/salami, carrots, hummus and have a decent pickin' selection for under $15. If half of it doesn't get eaten and sits out for 5 hours, oh well! In the trash you go! Would I find fresh burrata and olive tapenade there? NO - absolutely not, but that's what North shore farms & Whole paycheck are for! Worth a look for some pantry staples. Unsure if the $10 off $30 coupon was just a promo for being "new", but if you can get one of those it's worth it for the organic beans, oats, etc!

Stop and shop is definitely my favorite of all the chain markets and this location is my favorite among the stores. It's big, bright and clean... The shelves are always stocked and everyone is helpful (especially navigating your way through this food warehouse.) There are in a large shopping center so there is always plenty of parking. It may get more challenging during peak periods, but that's to be expected. We now use our phone as a scanner to make our purchases. It makes the whole shopping process extremely easy... especially on the checkout side. They have a good (and well stocked) meat department. They always seem to have a plentiful supply of frozen fish. There is a good bakery with plenty of selections of cakes, cookies and breads. There are many freezers of frozen foods and they are always having good sales on them as well. I have always been impressed with their fresh fruits and vegetables which are also strategically located around the prepared foods, cheeses, and specialty gourmet items. It is definitely a value store and you must be sure to get a "savings card" to take advantage of the preferred pricing. But... do not fret. If you do not have a card or leave yours at home the cashiers always keep a "house card" available for their customers. They have good sales and we try to take advantage of them. Make sure you bring your own bags or you're charged (.05) for each bag you use. Cashiers smile, say hello and thank you for shopping at their store. You'll never see them standing around texting their friends. Most of the time I try to use the self checkout. These store definitely stands out in the sea of grocery markets located in Nassau County.

A friend recommended it and despite her high praise, even she undersold it. You must get the hummus (I opted for the pine nut) and Turkish eggplant dip (a small container of each will run you $9-10 so it is not cheap but it is worth it). Each dip has the perfect thickness (not to watery or too thick) and was delicious. I heard good things about the bourekas and they had a new brisket boureka out so I bought a pack (10 or so in the package for $22, sold frozen). You heat them in the oven or toaster oven at 350 degrees for 20min. They were absolutely delicious, perfect texture (crunchy outside, soft inside) and the meat inside had so much flavor. For dessert we bought the baklava and pistachio mamoul. Everyone raved about the baklava and I really liked the pistacho mamoul as they were not too sweet (don't let the powdered sugar on the outside fool you). A very kind lady helped me find everything (though if you spend 5min walking around the store which is not that big, you can find everything yourself). Again, everything we bought was absolutely delicious and while it is not inexpensive, you get your money's worth. Absolutely worth checking out, I would be a regular here.

I will surely come back and shop here for my family gatherings. The one small criticism I have: for many many years, growing up in Forest Hills, Queens, where we patronized an original great falafel place, I always came to order 2 HALF falafel, rather than a whole. It's much easier to eat it when cut (simple sandwich principle). This place charged me 2 x $8 for the halves, when a whole falafel is just $13. That's a big difference for what is essentially the same thing. Just saying.

They have so many food services available to the public. I want to start with their AMAZING bakery. The best bread in NYS! They make all kinds of "designer breads and rolls" including their bacon and egg baked into a flat bread. Pizzas, meat breads and any other items. If you can think about it, it's probably there. They have custom meat cutting as well as a very well stocked meat isle. Their seafood department is top notch. They have everything and you can always count on the fact that it's fresh. They also have a vast amount of prepared dishes that just need to be cooked or heated up. The deli area is also amazing.... They have their own NSF meats as well as Boar's Head and other specialty brands. The 'fresh soup' area sits right by the deli counter. Plenty of fresh vegetables and cheeses. The dairy selection is also quite extensive. They have a fantastic sushi section. It would not be fair to write about NSF and not mention their amazing team here. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. There are just not enough good things to say about NSF. All their stores follow the same model so you always know what to expect... EXCELLENCE! Regular and semolina Italian - round loaves - baking right there rows of dough being proofed. 2) Customer service.
