When the Aldi opened near me on Glen Cove Road, I was ecstatic! It has wide aisles and is bright. The choices of food are good, but not always up to par. The service is hit or miss. I've been lucky for the most part with helpful and kind workers. The location it's in is killer. There's plenty of parking, but being around Old Country Road and Glen Cove Road is always a nightmare. And does anyone besides me ever have a problem getting a cart? I put my quarter in, and can never release my cart. Luckily there's always a kind customer to help or I track someone down who's about to return their cart, then give them my quarter. I'd say go just to look at the place even if there's nothing you want to buy. Guaranteed you'll come out with a few shopping bags full of stuff. Bring your own bags and enjoy.

I've never been to an ALDI so I wanted to pop in and see what was going on here. It was really interesting to see the variety of products here. They seem to sell some name brands but also some... knock off brands? Like fake Frosted Flakes ("hey that's not Tony the Tiger....") and there was this whole shelf of energy bars that looked eerily similar to Cliff bars but it wasn't. It was very entertaining to walk through the aisles. They sold Sugar Bomb cherry tomatoes which I like and was half the price of the ones I get in California!

No cashiers, self-service checkout can be frustrating. No signs telling customers where to wait for next available checkout stand. No employees to guide customers. I made the mistake of shopping on the weekend. Front end was a free-for-all with customers jumping in front of each other trying to check out. No more weekends for me.

It's 25 cents to get a shopping cart, which makes no type of sense because you're coming here to spend money anyway

Very good frozen items. Rack of lamb was a great buy! Buying unfamiliar brands have resulted in some favorites & some rejects!

There were also so many brand names (compared to other Aldis) sold way cheaper than other grocery stores.

They don't take credit cards just checks and cash. Bring your own bags for your veggies. Although they have a butcher who prepares fresh meat to order, I have never purchased their meal. They also sell a plethora of Spanish foods, spices, and canned goods that you can't find in regular grocery stores.

The overall focus is on providing lots of fruit and veg as possible for dirt-cheap prices. FYI- Ca$h only. You'll find heartier fruit and veg like apples, oranges, plantains, potatoes, eggplants, broccoli, onions, etc- with one partitioned cashier area if you're shopping on this outdoor side of Viva. I was stoked with the Raspberries, Blueberries and some root veggie prices, then branched out upstairs to the indoor part of Viva. Here, you'll find the greens, other fruit and veg, prepackaged crackers, bagged spices, a very small fish 'dept', several cashiers and the Deli on one end. Service is straight to the point with a 'nothing more, nothing less' mentality. My plantains, bagged cinnamons sticks, Star Anise, limes and a few other things were in tip-top shape. However, both my 99¢ each raspberries looked pretty on top- but weren't necessarily the creme of the crop. Bottom line? Pick and choose what you buy. Bear in mind though- you'll rack up in quality and price- ESPECIALLY if you go with the loose items. For prepackaged items like berries and what-not, skip it.

Westbury's 99 Ranch does a good job at catering to the local patrons as I see a nice selection of plant-based milks and gluten-free products that I don't usually see at Chinese grocery stores. The ice cream selection is great, but it is more focused on popsicles compared to the HMart in Jericho which has a wide range of unique Asian-inspired ice cream flavors. Most of the cashiers here do speak at least some English. In addition to the very wide range of Asian grocies that 99 Ranch carries, I also really enjoy their food court. There's a hot food bar and bakery here as well.It is so great to have Vietnamese food close to. home.
