On vacation in Vancouver. Just stopped in for a beer. Manager Lewis was exceptional and so was the service. Lots of great drinks and cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Held a casual after-work function here yesterday afternoon (4pm - 6:30pm) for a party of 10. The GM, Lewis, was very accommodating despite it being a game night. Our server, Jayde, provided great service even though every seat in the house was taken and pretty much standing room only from 5:30pm on. Chicken wings, nachos and rosemary-garlic fries were all tasty! If you are planning on making this a pre-game meeting place I definitely recommend getting there as early as possible. Due to the close proximity to Rogers and BC Place, this is definitely a popular spot. Good selection of beers on tap and lots of screens don't hurt either. read more

Seriously do not ever sit at the bar after a game you will die of thirst. The guy wants to go home and would rather you hate it and leave than stay. As I wrote this buddy has not been at the bar for over 20 minutes. I just want to close up and he is MIA Was able to reach out to another member of the staff there and get this resolved. Not sure where the bartender went but it's not fair to paint the whole place as bad read more

This bar is awesome. Great food, fantastic drinks. I would go out of my way to come here. Great game day atmosphere. You should definitely drink a Rose' All Day. Treated us amazing when we were in town for the Women's World Cup final. Great service!!!! read more

Such a great bar! So glad we stumbled into this place while we were in Vancouver for the women's World Cup! Great food, refreshing cocktails, and a fabulous staff that will treat you like VIP! If you are looking for the kinda of place where everyone knows your name, this is it!! read more

Love this place can't say enough good thing gs about it. Food is great service is fast and efficient and staff always friendly and helpful

This is an ideal spot to grab a few drinks and get a bite to eat before the game. The food is good but not great- about what you would expect from a sports pub. They have a very good selection of beers and cocktails. The place always seems to be packed every time I've been- a sure sign that people have recognized the place gives you value for your money. They did however screw up my order the last time I was in with my daughter. As we were on our way to a Whitecaps game and unable to send it back, the manager very graciously apologized for the mix up and struck our entire bill. That goes beyond my expectations for making good on a mistake. Kudos to him and our waitress for ensuring that we left happy. I will definitely be back. read more

I'm not sure why this place has low ratings. My friends have been telling me for months this is the best place in town to catch European Soccer (especially UK soccer) in Vancouver. So I finally decided to make it down here to catch some WCQ matches namely the England-Slovakia match. When i walked in i noticed it was very quiet which was strange for a sportsbar on a WCQ day. The bartender said they were only serving brunch which again was a surprise since it was past 12 noon but it turned out well. I ordered the NOLA french toast with the fingerling potatoes and a granville island lager. This place has large TV's which means you can catch two games at once. The thing with french toast you would expect it to have cinnamon and be very sweet tasting, but not so in this case. They had a bourbon maple syrup ( you can really taste the bourbon for sure!) and tons of peaches and blueberry which were a great compliment to the french toast. The portion size was very good for the money. the lager and potatoes complimented the the french toast very well. The waitress was very polite, professional and patient with me as it had been 5 years since I had been in here. They have certainly improved things here compared to my last visit 5 years ago which was not good. A bunch of Scottish fans came in to liven up the place (much needed) near the end of the match. All in all a good time to watch some WCQ soccer (footie across the pond. A very good breakfast read more

Went here for a drink and bite to eat with 4 friends on my 19th Birthday before we made our way to a concert. It was a Saturday night around 7 and it was pretty empty. Not sure if it's been the crummy weather? But we didn't mind at all! Just meant we got more attention! My first drink (mojito) was on the house and really yummy. The waitress was super friendly, posing for funny pictures with me and my ID for fun. :) I ordered the fish and chips for $14 +tax. It was a big portion for me, but maybe normal for everyone else out there? Soo delicious! and they didn't skimp on the tartar sauce. :p My friends all really enjoyed their food and one in particular was happy because they offer gluten free bread for the sandwiches. :) Definitely want to go back next time I'm in Vancouver. P.S. Just so you don't think I'm a teeny bopper who doesn't have pub experience. I went with 2 family friends in the mid 30's and my 2 siblings in their early 20's and they enjoyed it as much as I did. :) read more

Seems like this joint has been catching some bad rap on account of it being a Donnelly pub. Suppose it depends on what you're looking for, but Library Square has a killer stable of well maintained pinball machines and totally alright craft beer list. Wednesday night there is a FREE pinball league that grants points for your world standing (or puts you on the board if you don't have a rank). It's a solid mix of experienced players and social folks that just want to hang out and play. Before and after the tournament, the machines are set to free-play, and you can get wings + a beer for $6 or a pitcher for $10. Everyone is friendly and chill and you'll probably dig it even if you're never played pinball before. It's not really my jam on Friday or Saturday night, but for some casual pinball and beers after work you could certainly do worse. Pinball machines: Sinbad, Joker Poker, Funhouse, Jackbot, Demolition Man, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Attack from Mars, Congo. read more

This place is the bomb diggity. If you like pinball then you will dig on this place hard. They got 9 machines - all super dope. You like wings - they got those too. Friday night they have a 90s music night so you can bump and grind with some fly hun huns to the track Too Close by Next. One time I had a burger there too, it was great as well, however is came on a cutting board, whats the deal with food on cutting boards these days? read more

Pinball. Cheap beer. Kind and attentive servers. Keep your damn weekends, I'm working for the Wednesdays.

Based on other reviews you might think the service is slow. Yes, when it's busy (i.e. an event is on), the kitchen can sometimes get overwhelmed, but that should be expected when you're ordering food during or immediately before a major event. Otherwise, the atmosphere is good, the food is decent (it's pub food, after all), and the service - although there has been a lot of turnover these last few months - has been quite good. Kelly has been great in making us feel very welcome as longtime regulars. read more

I came here a few times before and never had a really good time. Decided to give it another chance and wound up with a great server, Kelly. She recommended Gypsy Tears Ale to me and I loved it. Will definitely come back! read more

I just luv this pub! I have so many fond memories dancing here on 80's night which doesn't exist anymore BUT I am confident that the owners will reconsider one day. In the meantime, I hang out here with my laptop and chill or work on a project. My favourite waitress here is Kelly! I sit in her section (the booths) because she always remembers what I like to drink and is so sweet she gives me a toothache! Cheesy maybe? Well it's a compliment. She makes the experience here that much better. It's close to the library so you can grab a book then grab a pint! I will sit and wait for my 80's night to show but until then I got my girl Kelly here...ya know? read more

Hands down the worst service I have every received. EVER. The server did not even acknowledge us for 45 min. 15 minutes in, we managed to wave down a manager who apologized that we hadn't been served yet. He said he would ring in our drinks right away. Another 10 minutes goes by, we flag him down again, he apologizes some more and finally we got some drinks (which he comped at least in acknowledgement). This entire time THREE different servers seem to be working the patio section. We watched every other table get acknowledged (eventually), receive drinks and food AND a bill, before our server even acknowledged that we were there. It was both a Canucks playoff game AND a whitecaps game, so it was busy. But it really didn't appear that was the problem as much as the staff is just undertrained, lacked common sense and common curtesy, were rude and seemed to justify their rudeness with "its just SO busy". I could've appreciated busy and been patient, but this was beyond tolerating. At the end our menus were taken away without once being asked if we wanted food, we went on our way hangry. Bar none, worst business I have ever attended and would never attend again and would caution any other human being who actually likes a nice atmosphere, food or beverage against this establishment. I apologize to the one manager who finally got our drinks, he really tried but he was fighting a losing battle with so many other bad staff on shift., read more

Standard pub-club kind of deal. Drinks were a bit overpriced and the beer - while there was a good selection - came in smaller than a pint size for more money. This would be enough for 3 stars because the place wasn't offensive and the staff seemed okay, except that the music was atrociously boring. Song transitions were non-existent or sloppy, every 3rd song was Dr Dre, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, or Notorious BIG, and any modern music was bad modern pop like Iggy Azalea, Rihanna, etc. read more

The Donnelly Group does happy hour right even if they raised their prices from $3 to $4. Awesome venue for pre-Canucks games

You'd think that staffing for the post-Vancouver Sun Run race would be a no brainer. Seems as though they were understaffed for the amount of people and the staff that showed up were not all there. Slow service, one plate out at a time, missing silverware and napkins, the most peculiar version of a Spinach Omelet I'ver ever had (maybe because it wasn't spinach but zucchini)....and the servers were definitely on "island time." Won't be heading back anytime soon. read more

Wow! Are you guys for real?...... I'm the last person to complain but I set up a yelp account just to share how bad this experience was. Went by library square on a Wed. Party of 5 for dinner and 4 rounds of drinks.... I guess non drinking and non food ordering pinball players get priority over all paying guests. Our game of big buck hunter was unplugged so they could plug in a laptop to keep score. Last time I ever step foot in this place for sub par bar food and to feel so unwelcome. Kudos to the server...she was very polite after seeing how things went down. read more

service was good but nachos were not. loved the environment for a good football game, definitely good vibes. had the burger which i enjoyed, but once again, mediocre nachos. most chips were bare which is never a good thing read more

Oh, Library Square, why do you taunt me so with your 80s and 90s night? You are knocking at nostalgia's door. However, I always feel like a younger generation beat me to the door to pay for your expensive cover and wait in line when there is plenty of room inside. read more

Bar Staff Attitude More Sour than a Jolly Rancher. As a huge fan of their Friday 90's Night, please note this is only a review of my experience at the bar. After trying a Jolly Rancher for the first time in Vegas last weekend I thought to try it at Library Square. Upon asking for two, one for me and one for my best friend, the bartender poured us two shots of Sour Puss. I told him that I was sure it was a mixed drink. He looked confused and turned to his manager. His manager said it was just two shots of Sour Puss in a martini glass. Hence that was what the bartender gave me and changed us $14 each. Although my fault for paying up, I took a sip, thought it was disgusting and felt very upset. Upon googling the Jolly Rancher, it was obviously a mixed drink with some combination of vodka, shnapps, liqueur, and cranberry juice. Upon showing this to the manager he said he could make it for me but it would cost $16: "it does not matter what is on google, here it is Sour Puss". I told him that I wanted him to make me the drink that I had asked for because what he gave me wasn't it. After arguing with him for a long while with no suitable ending in sight, I walked away. What upset me was their lack of acknowledgement if they did not know how to make something. Furthermore, the true cost to them would not be more than $2, instead they have a very upset customer who has chosen to stay up to write this review. I have not yet decided if I am coming back to my beloved 90's night, but one thing is for sure, their bar is not getting another penny from me. read more

First and last time eating here! If you end up getting Hannah D as your server, I already feel sorry for you. She was cold, snide, and rude. The service was super slow. The food was very bland and the fries tasted like mold. Took a few bites and that was it. I am amazed this place stays in business. Also, being a pub with a decent sized bar, I asked for a blended drink. Apparently they "Don't have blended drinks." This dining experience was a complete waste of my time and money. read more

Came for Sunday football and breakfast. Got two stars because they had football on several tvs. Service was terrible, waited forever to get our breakfast and when it did come I received the wrong order. Couldn't let the server know because she never came by for another 15 mins. Won't be back read more

This pub is one to avoid. The service was unresponsive and apparently they don't accept entertainment coupons despite the fact that there was no Canuck game and no event on. Any Vancouver sporting event rules you out. Expect long waits, over priced dishes and regretful food. Enjoy. read more

Went there for a friends birthday and ended up standing in the guest list line for about 45 minutes with a group of people she had invited. At first we thought there was another magical guest list we didn't know about because people were walking up and just going in, but we soon realized that if you give the door guy $20 on top of the cover, it suddenly isn't "full" anymore... One girl in the group who I had not met before was getting very anxious and yelling at the door man, and he kept telling us it was full even though they were letting in people. After he let in another random 5 people who walked up and I guess paid him, my boyfriend laughed and said "oh i thought it was full' at which point the doorman said he wasn't letting my boyfriend in. He let the girl who was yelling at him the whole time in a few minutes later, but not my boyfriend. I have no idea what the hell was wrong with this guy, he was on some kind of power trip. Maybe because my boyfriend was taller than him, I don't know, but he let everyone else in and refused to let him in for making one off hand comment that wasn't even a big deal. My boyfriend ended up going to meet some other friends elsewhere but I went in because of my friends birthday, and it was ridiculously overcrowded and overpriced. I ended up leaving an hour later because I really had to pee and had no hope of getting through the bathroom line up. read more

Library Square is a destination to meet friends before/after an event at Rogers arena/ BC place, watching your favorite sporting event on one of their many BIG screen tv's, or just an awesome place to have a great bite to eat/sip on a delicious cocktail or a fresh pint of beer. The new menu is unlike any menu I have seen with yummy items such as a buttermilk waffle & chicken sandwich, fried portobello mushroom sandwich and delicious healthy salads. Food specials every night. My personal favorite Wednesday Wings for $4.00 (1lbs) accompanied with a fresh pint of Phillips Blue Buck well watching the Canucks play. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Library Square if your looking for great food and delicious drinks. AWESOME PUB WITH A TWIST :) read more

It's "ok". Pretty good service and a good selection of draught. Depending on where you're sitting though, you may be SOL trying to watch a TV (poor placements). But the location is great if you want to hit a pub before a Lions or Canucks game. Though I mus admit all these new "Public Houses" sounds a little ridiculous. Like they're transplanted from the UK...(if I could roll my eyes here, you'd be seeing it). read more

I use to come here for 90's night on Fridays when DJ Ana was there and the music was purely 90s and you can request anything 90s. However, lately they seem to be changing DJ's quite frequently and now the DJ's appear to be younger and not knowing much of the 90s music. Sorry Justin Bieber is not even close to 90s. This place is getting less people every time I go. Please have a better DJ that knows 90s music and can properly mix music. I don't want to hear a helicopter from a song LOL. read more

Amazing menu and great service. It looked dark from the street but don't let that fool you. It was awesome!

A terrible experience here at lunch today. Why are you open for lunch in this downtown Vancouver business district if you can't handle it? Firstly, they lost my reservation and they were PACKED due to a conference next door. They finally gave my group a table (we had 1 hour 15 minutes for lunch). It look FORTY MINUTES for our food to arrive because, as the manager said "The kitchen is really busy." Uh yeah, it's lunchtime downtown! My group had to wolf our food down in 10 minutes. Mine (Italian flatbread) was completely tasteless - anemic tomatoes, pesto that was green sludge (no garlic or basil flavour) and cheese that could've been plastic. I will NEVER EVER go back. Wish I could give no stars. read more

The Wednesday night pinball league is great. And FREE to play. Cheap pitchers and wings. Friendly staff.

Best Place in Vancouver to have fun! DJs are amazing both on Sat and Fri! Staff is friendly and food is awesome!

over $100 for three of us to eat mediocre food. We made a reservation on the online system which said that someone will contact us withing 24 hours, then on another spot it said that someone will contact us in 48 hours. It didn't matter because we made the reservation 5 hours before we wanted to go. When we got there the server was really confused and said it didn't matter who we were and we could just have a table. We went at the diner hour and it wasn't very full but the server was horrible. She forgot what our order was and came back to ask us again, she was hasty and rude like she didn't have the time to spend with us and worst of all she was wearing next to no clothes. I don't want to see your armpit before I eat! The food was just mediocre, way over priced. We ordered sandwiches and fries which turned out to be nothing special. I could have made better at home with a toaster. We paid $3 extra for "rosemary fries" and were disappointed to find out that the fries looked and tasted like the frozen ones that McDonnalds uses with a bit of rosemary and salt on them. I won't go back and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more
