ZERO rating!! Do not use Liberty Mutual if you live in Hawaii. They don't have local reps so they also use 3rd parties for everything. The time difference also makes it difficult to communicate. Made a claim for water intrusion and mold. 5 months and 3 claims adjustors later, the issue is still unresolved. When they change reps, you basically are starting from scratch and have to resend and reexplain everything. They make you do all the work contacting people and obtaining documents. They will also lowball you and delay payment as long as possible to try to wear you down. Terrible company. Just look at the Yelp ratings and comments. Zero loyalty! I had LM for years! I get a text message stating my payment didn't go through. My card that was on autopay had been hacked. So I immediately updated my card info as soon as I got the text. Thought it was all good because they emailed me confirmation that it was updated and my balance was $0. Then I get a letter over a month later stating I no longer have insurance with them. Called the local number and hung up after 90+ minutes on hold. Spoke to their nonlocal agents who all said I needed to speak with a local agent. At the end, they said they couldn't do anything to help me and to find another insurance company. read more

Since 0 stars is not an option, i am forced to leave a 1star review. Here is my experience with this god awful company. We were rear ended and almost killed at a redlight. We made a claim and everything was good so we thought. We did each step and an agent contacted us immediately. This was good piece of mind at first. Our agent said the other party was not responding and that there was little that she could do to obtain the at fault drivers info. She said she will order a police report via mail. Since i didnt know any better i took that as a good answer and left it at that. A week went by and i tried texting our agent and no response. I thought okay she is busy cool. Another week goes by and no response. I was upset because i felt neglected. A 3rd week went by with zero word from any of the people claiming that they represent me. Upon playing the robot 500 on the phone the only person in the sphere of influence in the liberty mutual company that actually picks up his phone is a helpful guy named Anthony. Unfortunately he deals with the medical side of things and not anything to do with the accident. I told him that my agent was unresponsive so he gave me the number to my agents manager. Called the number and played robot500 and boom Anthony picked up the phone. I was pissed, Anthony apologized and further told me that my claim was closed and that i should refer to the liberty mutual app next time. So my claim was closed without anyone telling me anything. Thats why my agent was not responding over text, they closed my claim and did not notify me whatsoever. It gets better, in order for my car to get fixed i had to hunt down the at fault parties insurance (doing the job that was supposed to be done by my agent) The process to that is going into downtown Honolulu and paying 4 dollars and some change for a parking meter and getting the accident report printed out. So i did, upon arrival to the station the clerk said that there were no orders placed by any agents to actually get the accident report. I was pissed, here i am doing what was supposed to be done by a company that i pay money to annually. At this point, 1 month after the accident i realized that I was deceived by the agent representing me, there was zero follow up, there was zero communication. So i called the at fault insurance company, i could not believe it, A HUMAN BEING PICKED UP THE PHONE. On top of this mess, the agent told me off the rip, that the at fault party was unresponsive. I asked the at fault agent if anyone ha tried to make contact with her and she said no. I was furious, Liberty Mutual treated me like another number, told me that the at fault party was not responding, (no one from liberty mutual tried to make contact) The funny part about this is im going to switch my 4 vehicles and House over to the agency of the woman who hit me because their company was 10x more helpful in regards to getting my vehicle taken care of and helping me hash this stressful situation with open, clear, and concise communication. I dont like being treated like a number. I dont like the disgusting lack of integrity in this company because there are literally 2 people to talk to. I've been calling them since Saturday regarding my concerns for state transfer. So today i called again for the second time and they said they will email me. I had my homeowners insurance with Liberty Mutual over 20 years and this is my first claim and it has taken them 3 months and still not resolved to get my roof repaired. Liberty Mutual gave me the lowest quote for car & condo insurance. We have 2 condos and 2 cars; we are saving in the high hundreds per year by switching to LM. Ched was awesome. She patiently spent tons of time explaining the myriad of coverage options for our assets. I know she had to repeat certain items multiple times! All of our documents are accessible and updated online instantly. By comparison, when my wife was on State Farm, her policy docs were expired and those were the only ones posted! SMH. Service was soo bad at State Farm that we complained to corporate. But i digress; that is for another review. Claims are a cinch to file (call them or via online), and LM follows up on them promptly! My wife filed a claim on her condo and an adjuster was on-site the next day!! Joe was awesome! Prompt service! Quick and super painless claim processing! He even followed up the next week to see how the repair work on the condo was progressing. Love the follow-ups, makes me feel like a valued customer! Service was good until couple of days ago. .. This goes back to early 2013, I was looking at insurance quotes and the loved USA (been with them), liberty mutual gave me a quote and USAA matched it concluding no reason to switch. So, I called my consultant at liberty mutual and he said no charges for the quote, everything has been voided. There were a couple of notices that said I have a premium and when confronted, he said, "ignore it". Couple months Later (today), I find a notice saying my unpaid balance has been sent to collections...I find this very unacceptable and that I should do some sort of legal actions but simply only wish to have everything handled without collections because they were never needed. More stars when this gets handled correctly. Mahalo ****UPDATE***** I got everything handled but still had to pay $37 (not a big deal but was promised that I didn't have to pay a thing). A few years ago, my wife and I discovered mold growing under our stairway storage closet.  We called Liberty Mutual to come an assess the situation.  They sent someone over and they told us that they would not cover any costs because the mold was there for more than 14 days.  This is totally ridiculous as who checks every nook and cranny of their entire house for damages every week!  No one does this.  Liberty Mutual collected our premiums for 20+ years with no problem, but when we needed them to cover the damage to our house, they turned their backs on us and refused to pay out. What good is an insurance company for, if they won't cover your damages in your most desperate time of need? This company is basically comprised of crooks who take your premiums month after month but have no intention of coming to your rescue when you need them. Shame on you Liberty Mutual!  I expected you to be there for my family but you turned your backs on us!  I am wary of all insurance companies at this point.  You can bet I'll spread the word out on your company and try to save other people from giving you their business.  You don't deserve people's business PERIOD! Her latest is that she admits that she did drive into the side of my son's truck; but, that the damage done was from a previous accident. Really? I worked for a towing company and we had to tow one of their customers and the lady that was trying to figure out why the towing bill was high she wasn't nice. She kept belittling me and picking on everything I said and attacked my job. I don't appreciate company's that makes you feel like your not good enough and when I explained to her how upset she's making me feel she didn't care or understood she just kept saying how she felt that the accident tow is too high and that she never seen any tow company like this. Every tow company is different and every tow company has different charges. We are the cheapest in maui by far so I'm not sure what company she's talking about. A tow and an accident tow is different and she didn't understand that she kept saying how this is her first time dealing with a company with charges that doesn't make sense when I explained everything on the bill. I don't appreciate people that have no respect for each other. We are both doing our jobs and I didn't say anything bad until she kept attacking my job and how I'm doing my job over and over again that's when I lost it and let me anger get to me and I swore at her. Bottom line I'm doing my job and you're doing yours but learn to respect everyone you come across you don't know what they are already dealing with. You don't know me but I take medication for my anxiety and depression and being attack of how I'm doing my job and that my job doesn't matter makes me feel upset and that I don't matter. Just change auto insurance to Liberty Mutual but found out in Oahu they have a second party to do the Claims with John Mullen Insurance co. did claims on my car and had to pay the difference plus my deductible, JM insurance have there own blue book on Parts and Labor and the shop cut there labor cost to help me out but JM refuse to pay it and LMutual would not cover it so I got stuck with the difference that's not insurance coverage, Just change ove auto insurance should have keep my old carrier they was much better, I will change auto insurance when this expires read more

i would like to know why i am unable to reach my agent (kendrick nishiguchi) when calling into the honolulu office. when his name is mentioned i always get someone else than i'm told that they don't know his direct extension, etc. then when i called in this morning, i was given another telephone no. plus a 7 number extension - both of which didn't work. then i called the honolulu number again and the gentlemen that answered indicated that the office is closed and gave other means to contact someone via email, etc., but it was difficult to answer him as he appeared to be badly out of breath when talking! the reason for my trying to reach my agent was to find out why my premium was going up in september from $81.91 to $86.58 and was told by the last person i spoke to (mainland) that it was due to my july late payment which i paid today. it was an oversight on my part, but that should not be the reason for an increase in my monthly premium because of one late payment? read more

Bought a new car after racking up some crazy high insurance rates due to accidents and some citations. After going with Progressive I decided to shop around and found Liberty Mutual on Kapiolani Blvd. The agent there was cool and had all the answers to my questions. The rate was the best part, less than Progressive so since the agent was good and the price cheaper it was a no brainer. They are very good also about answering phone calls. Love them until I got terminally ill and can't drive now. Highly recommended!!! read more
