How can you tell if a business is honest? When they don't return your call after you close the deal.
I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jim said "you're gonna love this vehicle". I took it for a mechanic to look at, who said it needed new shocks - $1200. Jim tried to haggle with me, saying it should only cost $300. Finally got him to agree to pay the full cost at his preferred shop... which ended up being $1200. But that's not the worst part.
The second time I started the car after I bought it, the check engine light came on. So while it was at his preferred shop, I had them take a look. Needs new spark plugs, they said. Also, it is dumping oil, need a new housing. Another thousand dollars. Still not the worst part.
After the repair the check engine light cones on AGAIN immediately. I take it back in. They tell me there is a known TSB notice that the engine fails on this model. I ask "why was this not mentioned the first time I came in" the mechanic says "let me take a look" then mutters "holy shit" and starts making excuses. The estimate? $4-5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. I firmly believe they covered up this known issue in the first repair for Liberty.
Jim told me he had driven the vehicle upon purchasing it, the check engine issue preceded my owning it, and I have called three times to talk to them about it. They don't answer and don't return my messages. I'll let you decide for yourself why that might be the case. read more
