Our experience was fantastic! Cassondra was quick to respond to my initial inquiry. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable considering a vehicle that I hadn't test drove yet. I appreciated the extra effort of sending me exterior and interior videos of the car, and honestly pointing out any potential issues (chipped paint, small scratches). I didn't feel any negative pressure and when we wanted to move on the vehicle to purchase, she made it happen that afternoon. I would never recommend them after the experience I have had. My wife andI would not recommend Bob Smith Motors under any circumstances at this point. My wife and I purchased a brand-new 2023 Mazda CX-5, and initially we were very happy with the vehicle and the buying experience. However, our experience after the sale has been extremely disappointing. In early November, we contacted the dealership to cancel our extended warranty. We were told the refund would be processed and sent by the end of November, which we felt was reasonable. November came and went, and no refund was received. I left a message with Mike and never received a return call. My wife also called multiple times, leaving messages that went unanswered. Eventually, we were put in contact with Kevin, who initially addressed my wife's questions and assured us the issue was resolved. Again, we waited--but still no refund. Now, at the end of December, we have yet to receive the refund. My wife has continued calling with no resolution. When I finally spoke with Kevin directly, he stated he was not aware that my wife had canceled the warranty. After our conversation, he told me he would overnight the check. He said he would send me with a tracking code, and I still have not received this. The check has still not arrived. At this point, the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability is unacceptable. I would never recommend any Bob Smith dealership after this experience. I will be sharing this experience on every review platform available and will continue contacting the dealership until this matter is resolved. read more

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change and fix the washer sprayer because the hose was disconnected from the car I purchased 2 months ago. My appointment was at 1:00 but came 20 minutes early to give them extra time. Finally at 2:00 I asked if my car was done yet. They said they haven't got to it yet. I said I've waited for an hour and a half already so I'll just get it and take it elsewhere for the oil change. They brought my car back and told me they were backed up. I told them that's why I scheduled an appointment that they couldn't fulfill. This was the first and only time I would go for service. To me they have a scheduling problem with their Appointments! I'm not even sure where to start: I'm a 21 year old woman with great credit 1. The biggest thing is that they were supposed to send in my payoff for my old car, didn't do so until I had called to remind them. Had told me that the payoff went through, I called the bank my trade-in was financed through they said it went through, and it still hit my credit, and there's a missing payment on my credit report. 2. While purchasing a $36k vehicle, Michael had tried to charge me for windshield insurance and gap insurance when I had stated that I didn't need either. I was able to remove the windshield insurance, but it was still charged with the gap insurance, ultimately walking out the door with a $40k car loan. 3. Trying to reach out to Michael is the biggest struggle I've ever had; he'll send you his voicemail when he doesn't want to speak with you (I know because I hung up and called back immediately and he picked up the phone right away). He will avoid making contact with you, which in my opinion is extremely shady. 4. I had to individually handle every piece of paperwork that comes after purchasing a vehicle, from the payoff to getting the payments set up after it had gotten lost in the mail. I do not recommend this business at all, or at least proceed with extreme caution. I'm sure I will update as more things come up. I have made a complaint to the BBB as well! read more

Jay assured me things were fine and brought in the shop foreman and a mechanic to also assure me everything was fine. I used to think that Bob Smith was one of the best dealerships in Billings, but I no longer feel that way. I sent my 20 year old niece over there to purchase her 1st vehicle as an adult. She found a cute car, in her price range, and we handled the financing on our own. While at the dealership, it was brought to their attention that the brakes had some issues and the salesman stated they would have the brakes bled. I am not exactly sure what they did, because the brakes were not any better. I called the service department and had the car brought back. Turns out it was a much bigger problem than needing to be bled. I have made several attempts, emails and phone calls, to reach the salesman, Jake, with zero response. I left messages for other managers to call me and I never received any correspondence at all. I bought a warranty, from my Credit Union, that will cover the part and labor with a $250 deductible. The part was ordered and when it came in we scheduled an appointment to have the work done. I made sure they had all the info and were able to verify the coverage before the appointment was made. When I made the appointment, I was told that the only Mazda tech was in school for a few weeks and therefore we could not have the brakes fixed until he was back. I was assured that the work would only take 2 hours to complete. My niece works split shifts, so she had to move things around, as a responsible car owner would, and took her car in to get the work done. That was 10:30am yesterday and it has been there ever since. At 4:30 yesterday a call was made to the service department to find out what was happening. The service advisor stated they found another issue and were trying to get another part. Awesome, but communication is key. Needless to say, I will be finding another service department for her in the future and no one in my family will purchase from them again. For me, communication is EVERYTHING and it seems that there is no one at Bob Smith who cares. I will say one positive thing, they found an issue with the ABS and are trying to see if the warranty will cover that with only 1 deductible needed since both issues were brake related. However, I think the dealership needs to cover the deductible since it is from the issue that was discussed during purchase. read more

Service center is unprofessional and slow. I've been waiting for my car to have it's oil changed and tires rotated for almost 2 hours now. I had an appointment. This isn't the first time I've had trouble with Bob Smith, either. I bought my Mazda CX-5 while I lived in Denver. My fiancé and I got jobs back here, so I looked up the only Mazda dealer in the area. Now the fun begins. I brought my car in and was told, after already waiting an hour, that a belt was torn and HAD to be replaced. It had gotten torn by my tensioner which had to be replaced, too. No estimate on cost or time, no offer to be driven somewhere, no communication at all. After four hours, all of their mechanics going on lunch, and an offer to drive me somewhere after 2 1/2 hours, my car was done. The bill was $400, which hurt as I hadn't started working, yet. Not a mile after leaving, my tire pressure light came on. Perhaps I'm spoiled, but in Denver the tires and all fluids were check with every service. I went home, did some research, and found out my tensioner was still under warranty. I called to see about this, and am informed in a very rude manner that the tensioner was broken by a rock. That's an outside force so it's not covered by the warranty. I'm sorry, but that sounds like horrible design if a piece of your engine can be broken by a rock. I then got a lecture on how I'm wrong and an engine is like the windshield, if a rock broke your windshield, you wouldn't expect the warranty to cover it. I got told "Then just call Mazda" when I said that the analogy didn't hold up, because an engine is obviously metal, not glass, and it's not exposed to the road when you're driving. But this is neither here, nor there. They didn't cover it, and "couldn't" cover it. Mazda at least partially agreed with me and gave me $150 in gift certificates to "make up for the incident". The money is nice, but the gift cards had to be spent at a certified Mazda dealer. So we're back. At least I've had plenty of time to write this. Bob Smith could fix this by being faster with service and communicating without customers regarding timing and cost of repairs, especially those that are necessary. read more

Excellent experience, as usual. It's always a pleasure to visit the service department at Bob Smith. They are professional, knowledgeable and really care about me and my vehicle. I have had it serviced here since I purchased the car seven years ago. Jay, Helen, Tom, the courtesy drivers, office personnel, parts staff, etc. all make the day seem much brighter, even if a costly repair has to be made. I bought a car from here and have been dumping money into the car since I got it. Did not have it even two weeks before I had to take it in. Got it back and the oil Just keeps leaking. So I took it somewhere else to get it fix. I was told by them that all the breaks needed done when I bought my car. I have now put breaks and rooters on. And I'm not even close to done fixing it. Still have to replace the Radiator and every seal. I'm very disappointed it seemed like a good place to buy a car. I DO NOT recommend buying here. They don't care if you or your family are driving away with a safe car. Just about the money . I took my car here during a road trip across the country and stopped to have my undercarriage fixed. I was in and out within twenty minutes. My husband and I had our two cats with us and they allowed us to take them in the waiting area. Everyone was so friendly and courteous to us and our cats. If I ever find myself in Billings MT and need service on my car, were definitely going back. So I brought my RX-8 to get the sun visor replaced, and they did a fine job with that, but as I started my car, I noticed the 'check engine' light was on for the first time ever in the vehicle's young life (6 years). I brought it to their attention before driving off the lot, and one of the techs fiddled around with some stuff, said it was an emissions thing, turned the light off, and said it shouldn't cause problems. In March 2013, I purchased a used sports car from Bob Smith Motors in Billings, MT. I also purchased a service contract for $1950.00. I requested the contract to be cancelled and it was cancelled effective 9-5-13 and they were notified by the company that issues the contracts on 9-25-13 that the contract was cancelled. The financial manager knowingly lied to me several times throughout this whole ordeal. It has been stressful and caused me financial hardship. As of 11-8-13 I still have not receive my refund of about $1450.00. In the meantime, they have prevented me from selling my car and I am paying unnecessary interest. Do not do business with them; save yourself a headache. read more

We brought our car into Bob Smith to trade for a better family car. We went across the street to eat lunch while they test drove our trade (Burning out onto Central) and did all their lengthy (4hrs) paper work. When we decided not to take the rate they gave us we left. While driving about 2 blocks away the car felt funny, so we got out to check and sure enough he had popped the tire while testing out the Turbo. They never said one thing about the tire popping to us. On top of all this, they were just flat out rude! It was my first time buying a car as I am still a college student, and they made me feel like I was not good enough because I did not have auto loan history, just student loans.. A bad, bad place. Don't go anywhere near this place, especially with your car!!! They misdiagnose problems (i.e. don't fix the problem), and you have to come back many times - and still do not get results. They do "bait and switch" price changes and when it's all done, never provide a receipt for the work done. Letters to the company and phone calls are ignored..... Stay away at all costs!!! read more

I went on a test drive with Stan Larson. First of all we stopped at a local sports shop named Sheers or something like that, so he could look at a gun he wanted to buy. While doing a test drive. After spending about fifteen minutes in the store we finally left. When we got back to the dealership I asked him what the bottom dollar would be for the vehicle, he got very angry and said all there cars are priced at the least (which is not true, the vehicle was over priced), so I told him we would not come to a deal and tried to shake his hand, he then threw his pen on the desk and said "were not getting along anymore", and left the room. Needless to say I was done with this dealership at that point. I have never had such a bad experience at a dealership, and never dealt with such a rude and ridiculous salesman. The sales manager seemed to be a good guy who really did care, but I will never go back to that dealership, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Just my 2 cents and my experience there. read more

Bob Smith Lincoln Mazda is the worst service department in Billings, MT. We had a new timing belt, water pump, and tune up done on our Mazda. After we drove 3500 miles and began experiencing problems just outside of Denver, CO, we took our Mazda to the local Mazda Dealership and was informed we needed a NEW timing belt and water pump. We presented the official repair receipt to Bob Smith in hope of a refund. The service department manager said there was no warranty on labor or parts and they would not do anything to help us, it was our problem. We later learned that Bob Smith does not use genuine Mazda parts as they claim, even though they charged us for them. Paid $1700.00 to a Premier Lincoln Mazda Dealer for quality work and got less than half assed repairs. They have a take the money and run attitude. It is amazing they still have any business. Overall they are nothing but another lying and cheating car dealership. We will never do business there again and we do NOT recommend them to anyone! read more

Will NEVER do buisness with this company again!!!! Took my car (under warranty) to have a simple thing fixed.... they could not figure out what it was! I've been around cars my whole life (and my husband an I own a mechanic shop) but their service mechanic argued with me about what I was experiancing!!!! Then after having my car for almost a month total they still couldn't fix the tire sensor (we could have fixed it but what is the point of a warranty if they won't fix it?) Picked up a friends car that they had for three months and left mine and the friends car broke down before I left billings to drive home 2 1/2 hours!!! Took the friends car back (which was there for a recall) and had to pay for a rental! when my husband called monday morning they said the issuse was exactly was the recall was but they scanned for the recall an NEVER FIXED IT!!! So i called another dealership and over the phone they told me what was wrong with my car and that was just from talking to ME on the PHONE not even looking at my car which Bob Smith couldn't figure out after having my car for almost a month!! So I quickly traded it off for a DODGE and they said the light on the dash for the tire monitor was no big deal they would get it fixed under WARRANTY and now I am happy because I will NEVER have to deal with them again!! read more
