Approximately 1 1/2 pound bass @Yorty Creek in June
    Aaron B.

Nice lake and a great place to fish. Also great for kayaking, jet skiing, boating. You can camp here also by boating in to camp sites. It would be nice to have some drive up camp sites. I think you can even boat in to do pig hunting during season, you can check with the marina. There is three boat docks one being at the marina with day use fee which has bathrooms and a store. The other is across the bridge parking to the left and a boat launch fee. There is another boat launch but only for non motorized boats, kayaks ect. This is in Cloverdale called Yorty Creek. Take the road next to Chevron and follow the signs to the lake (Yorty Creek). Also there is a parking day use fee. I was at Yorty Creek on June 30th 2017 with my kayak to do some bass fishing of which I caught 2, one approximately 1 1/2 pounds and the other was approximately 3 1/2 pounds. All my fish I catch and release... On my way out of the water after the day of fishing and taking pictures, there was a fire and fire crews all over the ridge with airplanes dropping fire retardant and the Cal Fire helicopter which came right down to the lake to drop in their Bambi fire bucket in the lake so they could go drop it on the fire. I took a short video of the incident then headed out to see if I was even able to leave the one way in and one way out long road back to Cloverdale. Thankfully I was able to make it out. This is a great lake for fishing especially for Largemouth Bass. Great lake to go on some of the long walking trails to the lake. So get out there and get some sun...

Liberty Glen Campground 13005 Rockpile Road Geyserville, CA 95441 PROS This review is for Liberty Glen Campground. I feel like we really lucked out with our timing and the campsites that were available to us. We got a large corner site with 2 huge, shady oak trees, only one neighbor to one side of us & two small sites across from us, and a short walk to the restrooms & the amphitheater/park. The amenities (bathroom, additional portable toilets, showers, water spigots, amphitheater, park) were sufficient and well-kept. The landscape was gorgeous and although there was no immediate water access, the campground was a short (5 minute) drive to the boat dock / bridge / vista point, and a 30 minute drive to the recreational beach (Yorty Creek Beach). The campground feels like a remote location, but it's a really convenient 30 minute drive to and from highway 101 (and a beautiful drive through the vineyards depending on which direction you're coming from). It's gated and padlocked after-hours, which I feel neutral about but I think it's fair to note. CONS The only reason why I don't give it more stars is because of the scarceness of garbage bins, only 1-2 large collection bins for every loop. I've been going to burning man since 2008 and align with the "leave no trace" you-pack-it-in-and-pack-it-out philosophy, The masses, however, tend to not be so considerate. I noticed light litter scattered around our campsite and around certain areas of the campground. The worst of it was the garbage left inside the fire pit we saw when we arrived -- several partially-melted plastic items & utensils, a burnt round tin, a child's sock, and a half-burnt dirty diaper (ick). We made sure to leave our site cleaner than we found it, but I think placing a few more large bins so that each site has at least one within reasonable walking distance, might help keep this issue under control. I'd hate to see such a beautiful campground deteriorate because of something like this. I'd definitely consider going back to this site for future camping trips.

Did a kayaking trip here, it was pretty crowded. The lake was nice. I'd like to come back and see about renting jet skis.

Grab your hiking shoes and get yourself outside...to Fitch Mountain Open Space! We've been hiking…read morethe 3-ish mile steep Summit Trail loop for years. The large parking lot and entrance into the hike at Villa Chanticleer were recently renovated (as was the nearby dog park), and it's fantastic. Be warned: the Summit Trail hike starts with a quick descent /stairs down from the parking lot, and then a LONG, STEEP UPHILL. And it's all dirt/gravel. It's a wide and well-maintained fire road, but the dirt/gravel can be loose. So wear hiking shoes (leave your less grippy running/tennis shoes at home), and take your time. Bring water and wear sunscreen, although a good amount of the trail has tree coverage. Previously the initial descent into the trail and trail markers weren't clear, but they are now. All except for the end of the trail - there's opportunity for a clearer trail sign at the final turn. So take a mental note as you start so you can remember where to hike down/back to the parking lot. If you end up down by the water tower, you've gone down too far. Leashed dogs are welcome on this trail, and our 2 pups love it - we always bring water and poo bags for them. The only challenge is that they end up covered in spiky hitchhikers...and sometimes we find ticks on them. This park is close to home for us so we've never needed bathrooms. As the other reviewer mentioned, there may be a single porto-potty nearby. So plan accordingly. This is an incredible hike enjoying the natural beauty of Fitch Mountain, right here in Healdsburg. From the summit, if you choose to take the Butterfly Trail offshoot loop, you'll see butterflies all around. It's quite magical. If you're in the area and looking for some meditative time out in nature, highly recommend this hike!

The newly revamped Fitch mountain open space park is fantastic! I heard about this place opening…read morebecause I follow our local senator Mike McGuire on social media and he posted about the ribbon cutting at this magnificently revamped park. Which inspired me to check it out. It features ample parking, some nice picnic areas, a dog park, and a few trails. There is an out and back trail to the summit of fitch Mountain as well as some loops and a few different variations. All trails features this trail, and says the trail is closed. But it is newly reopened I went on 5/6/2024 and the park was fully opened. I choose to hike the summit trail, in an out and back fashion. The trail is a fire road and it is very well maintained. I am an avid hiker, in good shape. I would say this trail is fairly steep, and I agree with the ratings on all trails which states this trail is moderately challenging. The dirt on the trail is a bit loose. I wore running shoes, but I believe hiking boots are more appropriate. There is a lot of poison oak along the sides of the trail. The trail has lots of tall trees which provide nice shade. At the top of the summit, I was pleasantly surprised there are many unique, and artistic benches. Some are designed to accommodate lying down. The benches are unique, and beautiful, but also very functional and comfortable. The hike is approximately 3 miles, with an elevation gain of roughly 787 feet, and the trail takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete. Dogs are allowed on the trail, on leash. I was really impressed by the beauty of this park. My only complaint is the bathrooms at the park are not built yet. So if you have to use the bathroom, there is one, but it currently is a port-o-potty. The dog park looks very nice. Although we did not use it. We went mid week, and there was ample parking and the park was nearly empty. It was very nice to nearly have the whole park to ourselves. I highly recommend this park!

There is enough room for about 7 cars in the parking lot off the road in addition to available roadside parking where allowable. It is about 2.5 miles up Fitch Mt. from town and down a meandering trail that goes along behind some homes to the stretch of gravel beach that this beauty exists amongst. It is truly a hidden gem. I don't try to bring too much since you have a good .50-.75 mile trek down to the beach to set up camp for the day. Mostly sun exposed so plan accordingly. The water is the real treat here - it is like bath water so warm and inviting you won't want to leave! Not super shallow and definitely swimmable. It's a quiet and serene stretch of the Russian River that feels magical to get away so close to home.

The single track trails are well marked and very well kept. They are pretty smooth, and we didn't see any signs of erosion. We liked the variety of trails* -- a couple green circles, at least 10 blues, a couple black diamonds (we went on one and did not find it very technical) and even a double black diamond. You'll do plenty of climbing, but what goes up must come down, and there's a lot of it -- winding through trees, with switchbacks and some fun jumps. Make sure you carry a map, but if you don't, there is very little chance you'll get lost. (*I think it's a great place to practice riding with your new clipless pedals. I felt comfortable on the easier trails, and if you do fall, it's usually a pretty soft landing. I stayed un-clipped for the black diamonds just to be safe.) The $10/night campsites are extremely clean, and super roomy -- a great place for group camping. There are fire rings and convenient picnic benches at each site. There was only one pit toilet that we could find, but it never posed a problem for us. Campers respect the 11pm - 7am quiet hours. The only semi-bummer is the lack of potable water, so remember to bring plenty. There is a little market store 5 minutes away if you forget, or need more. Dogs are allowed, and are supposed to be on leash, although no one seems to mind if they are well-behaved off-leash. On a trail, however, I recommend you leash your dog as there are plenty of mountain bikers and horseback riders that will cross your path. ATV's and dirt bikes are not allowed, which keeps the park really quiet. All in all, we love this place!
