SCW and I stopped into Riverfront Regional Park while staying nearby in Windsor for wine tasting. I really wanted to get into some nature and saw Riverfront Regional Park not too far away. When you get to the entrance you'll find an automated parking stand. You'll need either correct change for cash or credit card. The fee is $7 most of the year, $10 for summer. The passes last all the way till sunset for the day. You'll find lots of parking but as we found when we left, get there early if you want to find easy parking. It does fill up. The park itself has many trail options. You can wander through the redwoods, take a walk along the river trail loop which is about 3 miles. Or make it up as you go along like we did. A little bit of the main trail, some of the redwoods and it was all gorgeous. The trails are mostly compacted dirt and stone pretty wide and easy to navigate. We found some wild blackberries along part of the trail and they were delicious. I really enjoyed the experience. We got to Riverfront Regional Park in the morning before setting off for some wine tasting. It is always nice to get some quiet, nature, and peaceful time before going off into the loud and busy world. You'll find plenty of benches along the way if you need to sit and relax or just enjoy the quiet. The entrance area has restrooms, several tables and grills as well as a volleyball net all under amazing redwood trees. I/we really enjoyed the experience.

I love this park, although it feels more and more unmaintained over the years. The lake has eroded some of the trail so there are spots that are narrow with a steep drop off and a whole section where large rocks were placed that you have to climb over in order to walk the loop around the lake. Horses are allowed so there is horse poop along the trail as well that you have to walk around.

Beautiful sexy and just amazing. Tucked away in the East side Rd in Windsor is this park where is the perfect run and hike trail park about 3 mile run or hike and easy trail on the knees. The beauty of this park is that has a two lakes from what I saw where is perfect for kayaking or canoeing, also I have seen people fishing and yes dogs are allowed. Let's not forget to mention it has access to the Russian River has like 3 entry locations that I know of but still exploring the entrances and no we are not trespassing it's all legal but not a lot of people know about this place. Perfect for hot days if we don't want to drive to far out there and want to stay close to town. It also has picnic tables near the sequoia trees and a volleyball spot to enjoy. Barbecue pits and all. Perfect for a family picnic or just to come and relax and enjoy Mather nature or to come and enjoy a good run. Fee $7.00 all day parking. Definitely a place to explore people. 5 stars for this gem nestled away in little Windsor in the beautiful Sonoma County definitely a must stop if you are visiting from out of area.

I love this place. Went here today.. got mud all over my jeans because its still flooded from recent rain fall. Couldn't make it around all the way but i saw fox, listened to birds and ducks and saw eagles. Its always beautiful. I secretly hate the people that yell when they see wildlife like fox! Respect nature! WE are on their territory.. drives me nuts. So my ask is if you are going to come here keep it quiet! walking around the lake is flat -

I've never been to this park before. I was hoping to see some of the wild flowers that have been blooming. I didn't see any there but it was a beautiful setting. We walked almost around one of the lakes but part of the trail was closed due to flooding. It also started to rain. Darn it. It will be a great place for picnics.

    Dog friendly!

    - Great regional park by the Russian River and a couple of lakes - Great for birthdays or family gatherings - Picnic tables and BBQs, volleyball court area - Restrooms - Parking lot, pay at the machine before driving down or you'll have a long walk - Saw some people fishing at the lakes - Short walk to the lakes and Russian River - Dog friendly

Beautiful grounds and reservoir to take a nice leisurely walk around. Saw folks kayaking and setting up BBQ as well. Plenty of parking though it costs $7.

Dog friendly. Mostly dirt trail. Full sun so wear sunscreen. There are horses that use this trail so you may see some surprises while walking. Overall nice park to spend the afternoon.

Just had a lovely hike around the lake with my husband and two dogs. We started around 3:00 pm and chose to begin the loop starting with the left trail. This was a good choice because there was plenty of shade on the first half and the sun was at our back for the second half. I only gave it 4 stars due to the detour around the flooded area. I knew about the detour, which consists of an uphill area of rocks, boulders & concrete that rejoin the trail, but the climb was much longer and difficult than I imagined. Easy to get hurt if you're not careful.

I don't have a horse, but if I did I'd take it here.

I have a seasonal pass to the parks and save $7 in parking fees. I go here all the time for my walks. Sometimes my husband and I take a picnic lunch and eat under the redwoods. In the picnic area they have bar-b-ques, badminton or volleyball court, and plenty of picnic tables. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I'm happy to say people respect the beauty and put their garbage in the cans, so it's very clean. The park is dog friendly, it's fun to see all the different dog breeds. I see canoes and paddle boarders on the lakes. Very enjoy walk and so close to home.

Gorgeous lake with the morning fog (9am in August)

The most beautiful park I've been to in a while! If you're looking for hiking, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, picnicking and horse back riding this is the place!! I look forward to sharing this spot with friends, and family.

Beautiful outdoor space, glad I came here on a day that wasn't too hot as you are exposed to the sun! Well maintained trails and pet owners were wonderful about cleaning up after their dogs. Very peaceful.

Love this place, these lakes, the redwood grove to bbq in, and the trails! Picnic happiness!

The large parking lot and entrance into the hike at Villa Chanticleer were recently renovated (as was the nearby dog park), and it's fantastic. Be warned: the Summit Trail hike starts with a quick descent /stairs down from the parking lot, and then a LONG, STEEP UPHILL. And it's all dirt/gravel. It's a wide and well-maintained fire road, but the dirt/gravel can be loose. So wear hiking shoes (leave your less grippy running/tennis shoes at home), and take your time. Bring water and wear sunscreen, although a good amount of the trail has tree coverage. Previously the initial descent into the trail and trail markers weren't clear, but they are now. All except for the end of the trail - there's opportunity for a clearer trail sign at the final turn. So take a mental note as you start so you can remember where to hike down/back to the parking lot. If you end up down by the water tower, you've gone down too far. Leashed dogs are welcome on this trail, and our 2 pups love it - we always bring water and poo bags for them. The only challenge is that they end up covered in spiky hitchhikers...and sometimes we find ticks on them. This park is close to home for us so we've never needed bathrooms. As the other reviewer mentioned, there may be a single porto-potty nearby. So plan accordingly. This is an incredible hike enjoying the natural beauty of Fitch Mountain, right here in Healdsburg. From the summit, if you choose to take the Butterfly Trail offshoot loop, you'll see butterflies all around. It's quite magical. If you're in the area and looking for some meditative time out in nature, highly recommend this hike!

I heard about this place opening…read morebecause I follow our local senator Mike McGuire on social media and he posted about the ribbon cutting at this magnificently revamped park. Which inspired me to check it out. It features ample parking, some nice picnic areas, a dog park, and a few trails. There is an out and back trail to the summit of fitch Mountain as well as some loops and a few different variations. All trails features this trail, and says the trail is closed. But it is newly reopened I went on 5/6/2024 and the park was fully opened. I choose to hike the summit trail, in an out and back fashion. The trail is a fire road and it is very well maintained. I am an avid hiker, in good shape. I would say this trail is fairly steep, and I agree with the ratings on all trails which states this trail is moderately challenging. The dirt on the trail is a bit loose. I wore running shoes, but I believe hiking boots are more appropriate. There is a lot of poison oak along the sides of the trail. The trail has lots of tall trees which provide nice shade. At the top of the summit, I was pleasantly surprised there are many unique, and artistic benches. Some are designed to accommodate lying down. The benches are unique, and beautiful, but also very functional and comfortable. The hike is approximately 3 miles, with an elevation gain of roughly 787 feet, and the trail takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete. Dogs are allowed on the trail, on leash. I was really impressed by the beauty of this park. My only complaint is the bathrooms at the park are not built yet. So if you have to use the bathroom, there is one, but it currently is a port-o-potty. The dog park looks very nice. Although we did not use it. We went mid week, and there was ample parking and the park was nearly empty. It was very nice to nearly have the whole park to ourselves. I highly recommend this park!

There's a fee to park inside the park. Think it was about $10. It gets busy during the weekends and spaces can be super limited if you come after 11am. We were with a toddler, so we stayed on the main flat trails that go through redwood groves. It is very shady and well trafficked trails. There are a few loops you can join together, and the circumference may be a 2-3 mile hike. But you can do however long you want it to be. Now the trails that elevate into the hills are much more involved. It can elevate to a 1300 foot gain which is pretty strenuous. I haven't tried those yet but it is on my list to try. But even the easy trails that one day, was still beautiful and relaxing. To majestic red bark trees with healthy ferns all on the ground cover, fallen trees to climb on, large rocks to hop on was just a nice jaunt especially with young kids. We brought a light lunch and refreshments and were able to run into a small area with picnic benches. Perfect way to end a few hours steeped in nature, without having to be totally in the wild. Great intro for those that aren't too versed (yet) and to get them exposed to nature, ecosystems and wildlife. Connect with the world amongst which you live with but rarely see. Weekend mission accomplished!
