Stumbled into this bar while walking around Barcelona, and the vibe was so cool, we decided to go out later in the evening for our swanky date. What bars have a live DJ mixing songs these days?! (Or those days rather...it was 2019). Drinks were top notch. Bathroom wall paper was top notch. Live DJ was top notch. Service was top notch. My husband found his new favorite cocktail-the Penicillin. A wonderfully trendy bar ahead of its time. Largest bar tab we had in awhile, and rarely do I say this about alcohol, but 1000% worth it. Someday we will be back.

We loved having Libertine in our hotel for lunch, snacks and drinks during our stay. We popped in several times, occasionally with friends, and always had an enjoyable experience. The lounge is dark, cool and has tons of comfortable seating. Favorites from the menu were the olives, tomato salad, cheese plate (order some extra bread on the side - you won't regret it!) and taramasalata spread. I tried the pork sandwich and it wasn't my favorite - it was a thick slice of pork (more like ham) with shredded carrots and cucumbers, plus a sweet balsamic sauce. I guess I was expecting more of a pulled pork, for some reason. My husband also tried the spiced bread with cheese, which he described as interesting. When in doubt, stick with the aforementioned items, as they were both generous in portion and delicious. The cocktails were excellent and boozy, but service was a bit slow at times, so ordering beer and wine over cocktails would speed things up for anyone in a hurry. If you're just looking to relax, get a cocktail because they are awesome! The servers/bartenders were all very lovely. I'd recommend Libertine as a nice stop even for people who aren't staying in Casa Bonay.

A good hotel breakfast is a joy, and those staying at Casa Bonay must be in heaven each morning as they come downstairs to the beautiful cafe Libertine. My budget didn't stretch to a stay at the hotel but I was delighted to spend a morning having breakfast here. The coffee and cafe menu is curated by Satan's Coffee and there is a large focus on seasonal and local produce. We ordered what we thought would be a simple breakfast - the "meats and bread" and the "pumpkin toast" and they were indeed simple in their ingredients but beautifully and generously presented. At under 8€ each we were pleasantly surprised at the value offered in such an upmarket venue. Our flat whites were okay, but what I loved most was the giant coupette of an organic Cava which really added a celebratory vibe to our breakfast. Congratulations, you're in Barcelona! Opening early, Libertine is a great option when you awake with jet lag and want to get an early start to the day in a calming and beautiful space.

Snooty, rude waitstaff and insanely overpriced, bad food. Literally try anywhere in Barcelona besides this place.

After a dozen attempts to dial in the pour the staff was honest and upfront about the selection that it couldn't be made to their standards. Wow, love this! Instead of giving me my drink and rushing me out the door, it was all about the quality. Being new to espresso making at home I fully understand the 1:2 ratio in a specific amount of time for making espresso. I took their advice and went with another bean selection. My iced cafe latte was for take away and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. One thing to note for any Americans that expect sweetener, there is none here. I wasn't bothered by this but I could see many others might be. Looking back I wish I had bought some beans to bring back home to Cali.

Service was fast - order at the middle kiosk and wait for your drink. They have a few iced drinks available, and you can choose which 3-4 beans to make the drink with. We got the iced latte along with the shakerato. The shakerato had no milk, so you can definitely taste the beans/coffee flavor. As for the iced latte, it was definitely less better and slightly more sweet and creamy due to the milk. You still tasted a bit of the flavor of the coffee.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.
