I have shopped at Lyn Evans several times, every time with success - and it's usually under duress…read morebecause I have a special event or immediate travel and I find myself without a much needed item! I have found a balance of reasonable and more pricey items - but always something in my budget. The magic formula for me - is that the ladies at Lyn Evans help me put together entire outfits that I would not otherwise buy for myself. I am a boring black slacks, single color blouse and on a good day - a standard issue scarf. You know, the ho-hum clothes that you can get at Ann Taylor or Banana in mass volume and every color. So, as a perfect example this past weekend - I discovered that an event scheduled for that evening was intended to be a "casual upscale" dinner - instead of the little black dress that I had planned to wear. I raced to Lyn Evans at midday and being a very petite 5'0", it's not easy to find much off the rack for me. On this visit, Heather took care of me- she had at least 10 inches on me - so a completely different body style. She put together at least 5 full ensembles for me to try - everything appropriate for my event and for my body type . She encouraged me to try new things, mix of colors and styles, jewelry - and every outfit was spot on - very stylish and got me out of my comfort frumpy zone. I could not be more pleased with the experience and will continue to return to Lyn Evans in the future. Thank you Heather!

Wonderful selection of crafts at what seemed like very appropriate pricing, to me…read more I especially liked the textiles/ quilt selection, but there is also plenty of photography, jewelry, pottery, and glass as well as other items. The sales staff are the artists themselves, as it is a collective. I had a very friendly salesperson who made the experience better. Highly recommend this store for gifts, or to give a gift to yourself!

I wandered into the Clever Hand for the first time yesterday afternoon while strolling through…read moredowntown Wellesley, and wandered out with 3 gorgeous, local artisan-made pieces (handloomed bamboo scarf, hand-dyed silk scarf, and glove leather belt with carved wood "buckle"), none of which I had expected to acquire but could not possibly leave without! The store is stuffed with lovely, one of kind or limited run things that reflect the vision and interests of individual, Massachusetts-based artists--so much more satisfying to browse than a big box store full of mass-produced stuff. The artisan/salesperson who checked me out (she works in paper, making cards and charming wall collages for children) was welcoming and helpful, and my checkout experience in no way resembled the one described by a previous poster. (Frankly, I was a bit taken aback by how indignant that poster got over her frustrating experience--seems she loved the contents of the store, but knocked it THREE stars for inefficient customer service? That seems disproportionate and unfair...)
