Apparently, there is still A LOT to consider when safety comes into question within the limits of Lexington, KY. I have never witnessed yellow blinking turning lights (grew up out of state) and I listed this as a safety issue. This seems to enable dangerous maneuvers in Lexington. I also wanted to suggest "stay right except to pass signs" on Athens-boonesboro to Richmond Rd. because trucks, vehicles with trailers, etc. feel the need occupy the passing lanes and island lights, instead of lights on either side of the right most lanes, on each side of the streets. There is more of a chance someone will crash into an island at night than veer off the side of a huge three laned road in either direction. I also suggested New Circle Rd to be three lanes on both sides through Lexington and changes to Nicholasville Rd. The changes are mainly to make it a regular laid out road to where there is an island splitting the two directions instead of lights dictating what lanes are closed off and opened up with arrows, xs, and double arrows (let's be real...NO ONE follows those). Many times I have found someone going the other way STRAIGHT in the turning lane and people waiting to take a turn on straight lanes. SAFETY HAZARD! Only time will tell if they take these suggestions, but who knows?

"why not?" indeed. it's a free crossing courtesy the kind people of Kentucky so it won't cost anything but some time and I had plenty of that... just a short touristy drive down Tates Creek Road to the landing - really helps to have a passenger with to appreciate the natural beauty and perhaps suggest a brief stop at a winery or something? The only thing downhill about the drive to the river is the slope of the roadway going to the ferry, when you get there be sure to follow the instructions of the ferriers while on the boat - stay in your car and put it in Park. after crossing cautiously drive off and head up Tates Creek Road back to the interstate and enjoy the rest of your day... perfect

The tour lasted approximately an hour. Enter via Gate 2 and personnel at the guard shack will direct where to park. We arrived to check in with reception and required to show our IDs. No photos allowed. Phones have to be placed in lockers. No purses or bags allowed. Must wear closed toe shoes. We entered a small theater room to view an introductory video and then the tour guide provided rules and instructions. We proceeded to the trams to load up and then embarked on a very informative tour. Our guide explained the manufacturing process, the company culture, and some of the facility features. I believe the guide stated there are 10,000 employees at this plant and welcomes and rewards their input and creativity to develop ongoing improvements. Several examples were cited of revolutionary processes initiated by workers. There is also a 50+ acre solar field to offset energy consumption, which is admirable. Toyota overall appears to have a company culture worthy of being emulated and to be producing an exemplary product. I left the tour very impressed and recommend checking it out as a unique day trip near Louisville (about an hour's drive).
