Ridiculous At first, over the phone I was quoted a price of $950 to fix it again! When I showed up with my dad, it was $570. This owner is a crook! DON'T GO HERE! I would give zero stars if I could. UPDATE: 6/27/19 I took my truck to Driveworks in Jersey City and the cost of a new compressor is $280 and I paid $300 for labor and Freon. This is much cheaper than the original $950 I paid for the same services at Van Houten. Be advised that after I posted this poor review, the owner left me a voicemail "to make me an offer." I have been on the market for a new mechanic for a long time. My car broke down and was towed by AAA. I found Joe Guarino's as an approved shop on the AAA site. Their reviews were absolutely impeccable and there were so many people that took the time to review them! None of the other shops had many reviews and if they did have a few reviews, they weren't that great. Joe's shop really stood out! It was nice that I was able to schedule an appointment online over the weekend in the late evening and I promptly received a call back from Rich in the office, who is just wonderful! They are very honest and fair. They could have taken advantage of the situation being my car had to be towed there. We suspected the problem was much bigger than it was and they assured me that it was something minor and I didn't even have to pay a ton of money. It was very affordable. They are "woman" friendly and still take the time to explain everything to you in lay-person's terms to where you can understand. They do not dismiss you or talk to you like you're "just a woman"! They look over everything and assess your vehicle for any and all issues and breakdown what is priority as well as what is not priority to fix. They even take the time to explain proper maintenance items and at what intervals they are suggested to be performed. They take the time to ask you questions about all repairs you have had done so they can put it into their system and get to know your car's history. This helps to asses things as they come up and gives them a holistic full picture which helps for future accuracy in diagnostics. I have never seen (in my 52 years) any mechanic take the time to do this. It's exceptional! That also take time to break down the bill and itemization for you so that you know what you are paying for. The gentlemen (owner and office manager) there are so very pleasant (Joe and Rich) and just so personable. You will never find another mechanic shop quite like this one! I promise!

I called and spoke to Zach and we agreed on a price so I made my appointment to come in. It was Zach's knowledge on installing "Caliper, Rotor and Brake kits" that made me comfortable in giving him my business. When I left it was Zach's honesty and quality work that made me at ease. Installing new brake kits is a bit nerve racking since if done incorrectly can cause you to be hurt badly. Zach not only knew how to install this special kit, but did the job right. I also asked him to put aside my old calipers since I will be getting my core deposit back once I mail in. Zach not only put it aside, but placed them in the original boxes and packaged them for me. So my hands did not get dirty at all. Zach stated to me he was experienced in many aftermarket installs. After my experience here I will be looking forward to giving Zach more of my business in the future.

He didn't charge me a cent for the scan or the analysis. Nor did he use any scare tactics to pressure me into getting work done right away. They said it would be around $200 which I thought was a tad bit higher considering Toyota Would've given me one for 150 but their waitlist was long so I decided to go ahead and book an appointment. There were no calls there were no updates. There was no "hey we found something that price has changed. Would you like us to address it?" I had to do all the calls and they were still mum about the price Reiterating it being about $200. That is until they finished their job on my car and suddenly it shot up to $293 without taxes included. Needless to say, I was shocked at that sticker price and they were less than caring a total shift from prior to that price changed So I guess if you want a $300 alignment no updates no calls. This is the place for you. But I was utterly disgusted at the lack of service lack of care in price stay very far away from this place
