I have been on the market for a new mechanic for a long time. My car broke down and was towed by AAA. I found Joe Guarino's as an approved shop on the AAA site. Their reviews were absolutely impeccable and there were so many people that took the time to review them! None of the other shops had many reviews and if they did have a few reviews, they weren't that great. Joe's shop really stood out! It was nice that I was able to schedule an appointment online over the weekend in the late evening and I promptly received a call back from Rich in the office, who is just wonderful! They are very honest and fair. They could have taken advantage of the situation being my car had to be towed there. We suspected the problem was much bigger than it was and they assured me that it was something minor and I didn't even have to pay a ton of money. It was very affordable. They are "woman" friendly and still take the time to explain everything to you in lay-person's terms to where you can understand. They do not dismiss you or talk to you like you're "just a woman"! They look over everything and assess your vehicle for any and all issues and breakdown what is priority as well as what is not priority to fix. They even take the time to explain proper maintenance items and at what intervals they are suggested to be performed. They take the time to ask you questions about all repairs you have had done so they can put it into their system and get to know your car's history. This helps to asses things as they come up and gives them a holistic full picture which helps for future accuracy in diagnostics. I have never seen (in my 52 years) any mechanic take the time to do this. It's exceptional! That also take time to break down the bill and itemization for you so that you know what you are paying for. The gentlemen (owner and office manager) there are so very pleasant (Joe and Rich) and just so personable. You will never find another mechanic shop quite like this one! I promise!

I brought my car in to repair the passenger-side window. I purchased the part the shop recommended (the driver-side window switch) after asking whether the passenger-side switch was needed. I was told it was not. When I was first told the car was ready, the passenger window still did not work. After I pointed this out, the mechanic changed fuses in the fuse box and stated that different voltage fuses were required. Even then, the window would only work once the car warmed up, which I was told was "not a big deal." When I tested the window from the passenger-side controls, it did not work at all. By this point, I had already paid. Shortly after leaving, I noticed my Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) warning light was on. I informed the mechanic and was told it would go away after driving. Weeks later, the light is still on. I was then asked to pay to replace the passenger-side window switch... the same part I was originally told was unnecessary. When I asked about the LKA issue, I was told they would need to look at the car when they had time. The work performed resulted in additional issues, and the repair orders do not reflect the misinformation given or the fuse changes that occurred.

As I'm new to the city, I put in a search on yelp and was contacted by multiple mechanics nearby (I'm in Jackson Heights) and requested a quote for pricing--both parts and labor, as well as the turnaround time--and Aegean was by far the best all-around. They were right on top of the correspondence, going back-and-forth with all of the details promptly and were able to secure the part, take in and run full diagnostics on my vehicle, and make the necessary repairs (including securing a new battery which I did not originally have as part of my request) within hours. We started talking around noon or so, and by 5:30, I was on my way home with everything done. They also tipped me off to some other work that I was going to need on the car in the near future regarding the tires, telling me exactly when and why I should be pursuing that work and justifying the need by showing me the tread markings as opposed to just simply claiming work needs to be done like some shops will do. You can tell they are not just about the bottom line, but really want to help out and retain their customers by presenting quality work to be done at the best price possible, which again is rare for a mechanic.
