I don't know how to adequately express how great these guys are. I think it's been 7 or so years that I've been seeing them for my BMW. They consistently exceed expectations: -They always explain everything in a way that's understandable to me, a layperson. They will show me the issue if they can. - They don't rush me. - Prices are fair. - They are honest and will tell me if I don't need something. - They have answered emergency calls on Saturday night when I'm trying to figure out whether my car is safe to drive home from vacation. - They have counseled me on what to expect and what to ask for when I was stranded out of town and had to get repairs done at a local shop. - Mark has made (local) house calls to my driveway to pull error codes. - My glove box broke while the car was under warranty--wouldn't close--and the dealer refused to fix it under warranty and then actually couldn't find a fix at all. I ignored it for a couple of years but it made me mad every time I looked at it. On one of my early appointments with them, Billy and the guys surprised me by having spent a couple of afterhours jury-rigging a way to get the thing to close and open. Their creative engineering has held all these years. There was no charge for this--it was a "fun challenge" they said. - Mark has a really high level of expertise and goes to continuing education conferences where he forms personal relationships with key experts and vendors. - He is one of the few places around here that TRULY knows transmissions, to the point where other shops send their transmission jobs to him. This is a really good indie shop. I've been several times and have dealt with Mark and Jose. Both guys are super nice and felt like they were giving me an honest assessment of what work needed to be done (and what they'd skip or hold off on). Jose in particular took some time to chat w me and answer some questions. Really really nice guy. Honesty and solid work is mostly what I ask for and got it here. Shop is on a dead end that looks a little sketch but don't let that turn you off. This place is very good. read more

The guys at Auto Precision are great. Extremely knowledgeable, I bring all my cars here now. I trust them to fix any problems I may have without overcharging like most dealerships. I came here the first time years ago based on a reference from a friend that they are experts when it comes to BMW's and haven't gone anywhere else since. I went to the auto repair shop for many years and would recommend their service. They were recommended to me by a tint shop in the area - which at the time I needed removed from my car because I had come from another state. When I went there the owner Mark was very nice to me and explained they did all kinds of work on German cars and gave me his card. I was very young at the time and was from an area that car repair places aren't as dishonest. As a young female I can only imagine how many times I would have been taken advantage of had I not found this place. They were alway very fair with the pricing, honest and gave me recommendations when needed. They were often very busy, but managed to fit my car in and turn around time was good. I only stopped going to them because I moved and it became less convenient, but I had tried to go to them when possible because I trusted them and they knew my car. Jose also helped me several times and was always pleasant. The staff overall was nice to deal with. My last experience there wasn't great, but as a whole I can only say good things. read more

This is first for me to actually write a review for auto repair shop that not only gave the best in service to my 2006 VW PASSAT, also honest integrity. My engine light came on my dashboard. I found them here on YELP as specialist who work primarily on German imports. My fluid level was low. I forgot which one it was. It had to be ordered. They had ordered the fluids needed and checked out the rest of the car to see if their were any unforeseen issues needed to be addressed. All was well and ok with my car. After all was said and done. They didn't charge me for anything. Yes, $0.00. I was looking to pay the standard $50.00 labor fee. I was surprised. This was the Best in Customer Service. I'll be bringing my VW back to them. It'll even encourage me to consider purchasing another pre-owned German import knowing that I'm going to get outstanding service and honest advice in what's needed for my car.. I'll keep this short and sweet. These guys are the real deal. If you are looking for a place to have your Merc or VW, Audi, BMW worked on, but don't want to stick your neck out only to find yes men and garages that make you pay as they learn. Then this is your garage. These guys are a no frills garage that do what needs to get done in a quick concise manner. I have never felt overcharged or double talked to. They are professional, honest and straightforward with their work and advice. I'm surprised there are so few reviews but if it weren't for my belief in karma I would be keeping this a secret too. Mark (owner), Jose & Billy are great mechanics who are willing to tackle any job. Mark is honest and when I ask him to do more work than is needed he usually jokes with me and says "I'll take your money if you want me to, but I don't think we have to do that yet." I really appreciate the honesty. I have had him do various huge jobs (differential) and many smaller jobs (brake calipers, control arms, steering components, alternator, computer stuff and of course maintenance). I have seen him do big jobs like engine and transmission rebuilds. His prices have always been better than the BMW dealership. I have been many times and will return. read more

I have been a customer of Total Precision for over 25 years. Mark is a honest and very good mechanic. Billy, Jose and Christina are also good people. They are not cheap, so expect to pay. They are always busy but manage to get you in if necessary. I give them 5 stars because they won't rip you off and will fix your problem. If you have to return, they don't brush you aside. I have been a customer for 3 years now and been very satisfied. Mark (the owner), Billy, Jose; all are very talented mechanic. Service is first class and you'll be given a very honest quote - read: 1/2 price compared to any BMW dealer. I once asked Mark to replace my car's water pump because it's known to become problematic for my car. Mark's inspected mine and told me to save my money because it's not time yet. With a dealer, you'd be told to replace things before it's due. With Mark, it's the opposite. 1 year later, I asked the same thing and he then told me it's time to do it. Local BMW dealers send cars to Mark to fix when they cannot handle the problems themselves. That alone tells you how good this guy is. If you are lucky, you will get a loaner car. But if you don't, the location is right next to lightrail that takes you to Newark Penn Station. Tip: Free wifi if you are waiting while they work on your car. read more

Used to think they were honest and professional, but lied to me outright for a standard service. Almost doubled the price, and said a job that takes no longer than an 90 minutes would take TWO AND A HALF HOURS. It's sad when you start to nickle and dime your customers. read more

I've been going to total precision for a couple of years now and they have proven to me time and time that they are the best! From easy to complex tear downs Mark, Billy, and Jose can do it. I've moonlighted with other shops and BMW mechanics and have been disappointed with the quality of workmanship. The techs at total precisions are there bright and early 6 days a weeks from 8:30am to 5:30pm thru fri and 8:30am to 2 on sat. They are friendly and respectable guys. They are on time and consistent. Their shop is clean and organizied. Their price is fair and they do it right the first time! This is the only indy i trust with my bimmer. This is the best BMW INDY place you can go to in the trstate area. I found this place on a forum of the BMW e60 car section asking everyone to tell me the best place you can go to for BMW repairs. I was suggested three places, two of which i had seen online already with my own research. This third place stood out to me...and when checking it out, I have not gone anywhere else for oil changes, minor and large repairs on my german saloon. They are not only accurate in how they assess a car, but in the way they price their service. They are actually honest in all that they say and all that they do. They don't try and get you for your money by charging you for a ridiculous amount of labor or by having you get things fixed that don't need to be...they are honest hard workers that actually enjoy what they do.....they are genuine guys and a genuine company on top of that...I had so many problems with my car within a 3 month period, that the one day I was stuck there all day and they actually bought me lunch (and gave me the remote to the TV) ...these guys know what you need ...will tell you what you need (with no BS) ...what you don't need.... and what you will need along the road... read more
