No one in their right mind wants to find themselves with a broken down car. But I'll be damned if the service I received from Five Star Towing didn't strangely make it seem worth while. I say this only in the spirit of a how a bad situation in the world (relative to 'your' world, of course) might teach you how decent people can be while in it. I found myself in this situation recently one rainy Friday evening (Sadly, I didn't get the driver's name, so I will say this happened Jan. 3rd).
I had a dead battery, due in part, I know now, to some worn out terminals. I was getting no juice. Five Star Towing was there at near exactly the time they approximated for me. The driver, a very friendly and seemingly empathetic guy, took the time to look at my battery and made his assessment. He took it upon himself to wiggle the terminals just enough to get the car started. However, this live battery was only to make it easier to get it atop the flatbed. He assured me it was still unsafe to drive.
I had a specific garage in mind and he explained he was familiar with the place and expressed optimism that this particular mechanic could help me with my problem.
Upon having the car up on the flatbed, I thought surely I'd be travelling with him to drop the car off. He assured me on this rainy night I in fact could stay home. He would drop the car off safely.. I thought this was a fantastic gesture, but I had reservations as, unfortunately, I only have the one key for my car and I was slightly nervous about giving it up. The driver's confident and calm assurances yet again soothed my worry.
He did take the car to its destination. But more than this, he was good enough to text me a picture--unsolicited by me---to show me exactly where he placed the car. When I thought that was enough, he then sent another text of a picture showing me the key lock box the mechanic had set up for the particular purpose. My keys were safe. I was warm and dry. I was at ease.
All this appeared very professional, but it also struck me as genuinely caring. I realize not only my story, but the very problem itself is just a small drop in a world of larger concerns. But, he did make it worth taking the time to write a nice review. Here I am. read more
