We were disappointed with Lexington Homes (License #874954) after choosing this company for a major landscaping project at our new home. The project included lighting, paver patios and walkways, a patio cover, turf and trees, drainage, and irrigation for both our front and back yards. The following is a list of our chief complaints.
1. We were told that the project would take approximately 6-7 weeks with some short breaks in between. In reality, it took over 6 months. During most of that time our front yard was stripped down to bare dirt, construction materials sat on the entire length of our driveway, and an outhouse adorned our curb. Not surprisingly, our HOA issued a violation.
2. Jeff Sorensen, one of the two partners who ran the company, didn't supervise the project adequately and did not communicate effectively. For example, after we had discussed changes to the landscaping design, Jeff did not communicate those changes to his workers verbally even though he also did not make any written changes on the plan's blueprint. As a result, a Country Manor wall had to be deconstructed because the plan indicated a taller wall than Jeff had purchased materials for.
3. Jeff was also disorganized, bordering on incompetent. He did not obtain the building permits before he started work on the project. In his effort to supposedly expedite things, he had his crew dig the footings for a free-standing patio cover assuming that the county would issue a permit. When the county did not approve the patio cover, Jeff tried to convince us to install the cover without the permit, something our HOA would not allow. When we refused, he expected us to pay for the labor to fill in the holes for the footings.
4. In addition, Jeff did not complete several things he said he would do. He did not connect the downspout from a rain gutter to the drain lines leading to the front curb despite numerous reminders from us. We ended up doing the work ourselves after our backyard flooded every time it rained. Jeff also did not move the rock from a dry creek bed that he had agreed to relocate, nor did he set the pavers around the patio cover's post after the cover was installed. Again, we did the work ourselves after weeks of waiting.
All in all, we cannot recommend this construction company. Working with them was a frustrating disappointment. read more
