I was referred to see Dr. Joseph to have a root canal procedure done. From the very moment we had the consultation; he was rude, confrontational with me when I asked questions and needed reassurance and overall lacked professionalism. It was clear that he didn't care about what I had to say because anytime I spoke, he couldn't keep any eye contact, kept turning away to fidget with different tools and items and kept looking outside the room. I let it slide as I needed the procedure done for two very severely infected teeth which I couldn't tolerate anymore and the office was the only one who could take me in the quickest as all others were heavily booked. So the appointment was made, I went ahead with the procedure, finally, it's over, its done and I can sleep... I was so wrong. About a week later, the same set of two teeth began with aches and pains again. I made an appointment to go back to see what was going on. When I got there, he really could care less. He told me to wait it out and to continue taking my medication that was prescribed and hurried out the office. I didn't want argue and make a big deal out of it; Fine you're the doctor, you know best, I will do that. within the next 3 days, the gums surrounding the teeth started to form painful blisters and leak pus. It was so severe not even the medications could numb the pain and I had to admit myself into the ER. They gave me corticosteroids and I went to get a second opinion elsewhere on what is exactly happening as I was not going back to him From what I was told, it was such a badly botched procedure that if I didn't take action right away, I would have developed Ludwig's Angina or Osteomyelitis within a week and to put a cherry on top of all of this, he billed my insurance twice for the procedure which is dishonest and fraudulent and I'm currently fighting to get that taken care. I have reported this to the Attorney Generals Office and the Massachusetts Insurance Fraud Bureau. Save your sanity, save your stress, and stay away from this dental office. It's not worth the headache and pain, I am not sure how they are legally allowed to run operations like this

A couple of years ago I foolishly bit into a piece of hard candy and broke off a repair she did and Dr. Nishimura fixed the tooth again for free. She has a state of the art Cerec machine too and I have had her do both filling and crowns for me, always done perfectly well and without pain too. She is very attentive to her patients' comfort. Her staff is excellent too - Both Emily and Donna are superb hygienists who also do thorough and exceptional work while being sensitive to patient comfort. The office administrator Casey is delightful to work with as well. My wife and I have gone to Dr. Nishimura for almost eight years now and I would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a new dentist. Before the cleaning, I declined the laser decontamination, which costs about $2,000 and is not covered by insurance. She walked out to talk to the receptionist, and came back acting like she couldn't care less about my treatment. She only worked on a couple of teeth and then called it done. I literally walked in and out in less than 15 minutes for this treatment. When I pointed out that she completely skipped the upper right side of my mouth, she insisted she had done it and asked, "Do you want me to go back?" What do you mean by asking me that? This appointment was supposed to be 45+ minutes, and you barely spent 15 minutes rushing through my cleaning! For the billing part, the receptionist girl insisted she couldn't find my insurance and tried to upsell me their insurance plus a $600 estimate for the regular cleaning service which I used to spent $20+ on. I had to call my insurance, connect it with her, eventually run through everything myself. I was overall shocked by their attitude and profit-driven behavior. For me as a patient, health is the top priority, cost is secondary. If they can't even perform a basic cleaning correctly, I can't trust them with anything more complex.

I had an implant in 2020 and it looked great at first until I eneded up with an abcess. Dr Chua did the implant, Dr Dowd did a surgery to clean up under the gum tissue of the implant. The problem was due to leaving cotton in the implant core, which led to the abcess. Dr.Dowd tried to resolve the issue, but never did a bone graft during the second surgery. It left my gum bruised looking and food could enter up underneath the gum tissue. I returned once again for help and Dr. Morgan denied cotton had been left, which makes no sense because his colleague did a surgery due to this problem?? He was rude and pulled periodontal floss under the gum causing it to bleed. I'm on blood thinners and have had two open heart surgeries! I just went to another oral surgeon who said there was substantial bone and gum tissue lost costing me another surgery and time off from work. Dr. Chuah and Jill, her friendly dental associate, went out of their way to explain the procedure each step of the way and solicit questions. Once my surgery was underway, they were very good about checking in with me to confirm that I was doing okay. Even when Dr. Chuah encountered an unexpected challenge involving a wisdom tooth adjacent to my troublesome molar, she made me feel very much at ease by explaining what had occurred, how she was going to deal with it and then expertly addressing the issue in a most satisfactory way. Specifically, she ended up extracting both my impacted molar and wisdom tooth while maintaining my comfort throughout the procedure. Following my surgery, Dr. Chuah was very helpful in explaining what I needed to do in terms of follow-up and in answering a few questions that I had. Further, I was most impressed that, on the day following my surgery, Dr. Chuah called me herself, just to confirm that I was making a good recovery. In addition to being an excellent surgeon, Dr. Chuah clearly understands just how important clear and frequent communication is in facilitating a good patient experience. This is especially so with respect to oral surgery, which is an inherently stressful and uncertain procedure for most patients. Ongoing Complications Following Root Canal Treatment in 2011…read more I am writing to help shed light on a serious and ongoing complication from a root canal procedure performed at this office in 2011. Since that time, I have undergone three surgeries and still experience recurring infection and necrosis that has spread throughout my mouth, resulting in significant health issues. Recently I requested to have some of my health expenses with the proper receipts / notations from the health care providers. They ignored me then had an insurance lawyer write a unprofessional and inaccurate email back. Upon reviewing the x-rays prior to the root canal, tooth #4 was clearly compromised, with clouding surrounding the tooth. However, both Dr. Defrancesco and Dr. Cohen assured me that this was "normal." After the procedure, I was informed that everything appeared to be fine and that any issues might be related to the crown, which was later replaced at my own expense. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the problem, and the infection spread to other teeth, including #4, #5, and #2, as well as other areas in my mouth. I had previously reached out regarding a refund for the procedure, though I wanted to wait for more clarity before taking further action. I knew there was much more to this problem and didn't just want a-refund for the rootcanal. During this time, I encountered unprofessionalism and resistance when I initially made this request. It's also notable that I am a friend of Dr. D's sister in law. If this is how they respond towards people they know on a more personal level how will they treat someone they don't? The root canal procedure involved an apical puncture and overfill, leading to the infection. Immediate post-procedure x-rays revealed that the root canal was not properly executed, and the failure to inform me about the potential risks and complications constitutes a violation of the principle of informed consent. The toxic materials used in the overfilling can cause severe complications, and this has been the case in my situation. The extent of the damage was not and could not have been known until after the supposed statute of limitations had expired. The complications, including the spread of the infection, were not immediately apparent and were only discovered after multiple surgeries. This was hard to prove without convincing a doctor to open up the area, and having money to do it, which finally was done. It is clear that negligence occurred during the procedure, and yet, thid office has not taken responsibility or even shown any sympathy for the harm caused. Following the procedure, I experienced a severe decline in my health, (still having health issues from this to date) with documented issues such as severe sinusitis, post-nasal drip, sore throat, headaches, itchy eyes, vision issue, right ear issues/ pain and drainage issues, swollen lymph nodes, body pains, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological problems, anxiety, depression, stomach issues, cardiovascular problems, and irregular heartbeat. These symptoms worsened over the years and persisted even after tooth #3 was extracted. The spread of infection and necrosis is the primary cause of these ongoing health issues. I now have a tumor on the right side of my neck from persistent issues from this un-acknowledge mistake. My lymph node on the right has been consistently enlarged. Again, I had no previous health issues and all issues are directly related to this. Moreover, the most recent surgery on 3/15/2023 concluded that the original source of the problem in 2011 was tooth #4, not tooth #3 as initially diagnosed. This misdiagnosis led to an unnecessary root canal, which exacerbated the situation and instead cause me to almost die. As dental professionals, it should have been recognized that tooth issues can and do manifest as sensitivity in surrounding teeth. Additionally, Dr. Cohen punctured the apex of tooth #3 and overfilled it into my right sinus cavity without informing me, a serious "oversight" called malpractice. Had they diagnosed me properly and didn't perform a root canal on a healthy tooth none of this would have happened. Given the severity of the situation and the lasting impact on my health, I asked for partial compensation for the procedures not including harm caused or the work and schooling loss I incurred. I cannot afford to get implants which is causing issues with my jaw being uneven. Instead Ive been thrown away like yesterday's trash while they filled their pockets with my money and at the cost of my health/ life. My only hope at this point is to have my voice be heard, even on a small scale such as this and save someone else for having this happen to them.
