Premier Endodontics Ok, I usually only write reviews for restaurants so this is new to me. And this may be as important as your next meal in the North End or the Seaport! Like many (or most?) I am not a huge fan of going to the dentist or endodontist! I've had my share of visits and it's never as bad as you're expecting but it's not something you look forward to or look back on fondly..and you all know what I mean! Well, Premier Endodontics at 271 Waverly Oaks Road in Waltham, MA has changed that. From the easy check in with Henry, seamless connection and billing of insurance and any out of pocket expenses, to the explanation of their procedure. I had a short wait and was greeted by Dr Jones' dental assistant, Sabrina. Also, the office and their equipment and stuff seem very modern and the office was impeccably clean and comfortable. Sabrina greeted me and brought me to a room and explained what they would be doing and started with x rays. Shortly after the x-rays I was greeted by Doctor Jones who could not be more personable and professional! She explained what they would be doing to fix my cracked tooth. I needed a root canal and a temporary filling, then a second appointment for the permanent filling, and finally I would go back to my dentist who would install a crown. She also explained that they would first numb my mouth to desensitize it before administering "anesthesia" which I'm guessing was Novocain? When it was time to inject she was obviously more skilled than the last person I had seen years ago..I barely felt a thing! Not sure if technology has progressed but it numbed me up quickly and I didn't feel a thing!! All the drilling, grinding, hands, tools, and suction tube and not a bit of pain or even discomfort!! It is clear that Doctor Jones and her assistant worked extremely well together. They communicated and executed the procedure like clockwork and even played some decent music while they went about their business. (I'd recommend Yacht Rock or Classic Rock as opposed to Metallica or Snoop Dogg!) Disclaimer: They both sing while working and neither of them will ever be a contestant on American Idol! . However...it was very soothing and kind of reassuring of their confidence in what was clearly a routine procedure for them, but can be a bit daunting for 99% of us who cringe when we hear the words ROOT CANAL!! I returned for the second appointment to have the permanent filling installed and it went just as well as the first. The entire staff were so professional and seem like family to each other, which was very welcoming and reassuring to someone who doesn't go to the "dentist" much! I cannot say enough about how positive my experience was with Premier Endodontics and highly recommend them!! Thank you Doctor Jones, Sabrina, and Henry!! read more

I have heard all the horror stories about root canals so I was prepared for a really unpleasant experience. My dentist recommended me to Dr. Jones at premier endodontics. he said " don't worry she won't give you a root canal if you don't need one." she was very nice and so was every member of her staff from the front desk onward. I was really worried about the pain of getting Novacaine but she was so good It hardly hurt at all. now it's the next day and my tooth is perfect. I highly recommend Dr. Jones and her staff. they've got the skills and they've got the rizz! :) final note: she almost didn't give me a root canal! but she took the time to listen to my symptoms and take a 2nd x-ray. she suggested i could wait and see if things got worse. I decided to just deal with it at that moment. I am glad I did. read more

My grandson had a root canal at premier Endodontics and later he complaint about pain on couple teeth. The dentist told him his root canal needs to be redone. When I called them they said he will have to pay $350 for evaluation and another $2500 for the root canal for their own mistake. Above that he needs another new crown. read more

DISCLAIMER: My experience is unique because my metabolism and ability to respond to drugs does not fit the profile of 99% of dental patients. SUMMARY: On April 17, 2023 - Patriots Day, I woke up in excruciating pain in my back molar. This tooth had been giving me problems since January after some poor dental work (you can read my review of Dental Care of Burlington for that story). But the pain had gotten unbearable that morning. I was able to get into an Endo who was able to do a consultation but unfortunately did not have time to treat until later in the week (you can also check out my 5 star review of Elite Endodontics). Premier came through in a clutch, and made room in their busy schedule to see me and they were so gracious, gentle and reassuring and made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. I 100% recommend them. FULL REVIEW: I just had the most painful dental experience of my life!!! I am pretty sure I passed out for a good ten seconds at some point. It was absolutely horrible!!! But Christina, why are you giving them 5 stars if they tortured you? Because they didn't...I was in such excruciating pain that I needed to get that tooth done that day and unfortunately I have weird genetics that not only make me very resistant to the drugs they use to numb people, but also cause me to metabolize them super fast. My circumstance is so unique that even many Endo's, who do root canals every day, often have never come across a patient that simply will not numb. But Christina, you still haven't answered the question...why five stars? Because there is very little a dentist can do about my body's inability to numb. But what they do have control over is how they respond to it. Medical gaslighting is a thing! And unfortunately, it's a thing that I have experienced more often than not, especially with dentists. I say "I don't numb completely, I need sedation" and they hear "I have crippling anxiety and I'm terrified of needless." I say... "I have an overactive gag reflex that overcomplicates things, especially when my tongue is numb." They heard "I have crippling anxiety." Dr. Kathleen Molgaard, having never experienced a patient that was not able to numb, took me for my word and approached me as a patient who was not going to get sufficiently numb and at every step of the way she gave me the option of taking a break or stopping completely. Even after we drilled into the tooth, she offered a temporary filling and to come back another time. She really let me in the driver's seat of managing my own pain. Ultimately, with being in such pain from the inflamed tooth, I decided to grin and bear that procedure even while only partially numb. Once she was able to drill into the pulp chamber and inject drugs right into the nerve, things calmed down a lot. There was still a fair amount of pain, but nothing excruciating like the pain it took to get to my pulp chamber. Dr. Molgaard was so calm and reassuring throughout the entire process and went super slow when I needed her to, without any signs of getting frustrated. She also paid very close attention to my body language and even when I was reluctant to ask her to stop (I just wanted it done) she was very good at being able to tell when I reached my limits. For someone like me, who does not numb, to be able to get a root canal without IV sedation is huge. Yes, I was in extreme pain (I'm pretty sure I fainted for a few seconds). But it's done! Now, will I be back? Perhaps...I don't know and that's no fault of Dr. Molgaard. So she hasn't converted me from IV sedation (which is a great option for those who either have a hard time getting numb or tend to metabolize the numbing drugs very quickly.) But unfortunately, many officers only have the sedation doctor come in once a month and get booked up fast. So knowing that I have someone I can go to, even if it is not the ideal experience,, does a lot to relieve my dental anxiety. read more

I am struck by the irony on how great it was to get a root canal filling here with Dr. B and her staff. At age 32, this is by far the most enjoyable and lovely experience I've ever had in a dentist chair. I will certainly recommend this to anyone that comes across my way and God forbid if I ever have to get a root canal again, I am sprinting back here. read more

Having a root canal is framed to be an excruciating experience. I had a crowned tooth that was throbbing. I went to my dentist and they told me to make an appointment with Premier Orthodontics. I was nervous. What if I needed a ROOT CANAL?‽! I did. But Dr. Jones put me at ease, and after x-rays and tests, we made an appointment to get it done. The procedure went smoothly and was split over two sessions. In the week between cleaning it out and refilling my tooth reminded me it was there, but I didn't need pain meds but once. I can't compliment her and her trustworthy assistant enough! I waited for a decent interval to be sure everything was fine before writing this review. They got me in and took such good care of me. They are so gentle and talk you through the whole procedure and make sure your ok the whole way through. I was referred to this practice by my dentist for a root canal consultation. They fit me in super quick - which I appreciated. I was welcomed upon arrival and felt like I was in good hands right from the start. In the end, I needed a root canal and was very anxious about the process. Irene K My molar became very painful and my dentist sent me to Dr. Jones. Dr. Jones did several tests and asked me to come in the next day for a root canal. Her assistant was off that day so she said her husband would help. Dr. Jones did not tell me until after the procedure that it was her day off! That is unheard of! During my visit I was told exactly what she was going to do next and I felt totally relaxed. After one and a half hours I walked out of the office light-hearted and smiling. Was referred here by the oral surgeon who was getting ready to pull my wisdom tooth as he found the tooth next to one of the wisdom tooth needed a root canal. I have heard horror stories whenever someone had one. I told oral surgeon to remove it rather than go for a root canal. He talked me out of it as it was in good shape and called over to Premier Entondontics to get me seen as I was in a lot pain. I went to Premier a couple of hours later and Dr. Patak saw me. She had some xrays done and advised me of a treatment plan. She was able to put me at ease about a root canal and handled it so well. I left there in less pain. Then returned few days to for the final part of the root canal. The pain was almost gone by then. I then went to see my regular dentist for a crown. He was very pleased with the work he saw and asked me who had done it. If you are nervous about root canals.. go see Dr. Patak. I hope I never need anymore, but I will definitely go see her next time. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience at this practice. I have never left a dentist appointment in a better mood before Premier. I saw Dr. Jones who is not only a talented doctor but also an absolute ray of sunshine, she radiates the best energy. I would give 100 stars if I could. I have moved around a lot for work and have seen many different dentists, but NOBODY can compare to Dr. Jones. My nerves were high and I had a toothache that was 9/10 on the pain scale. From the moment I walked in the assistant was so nice and caring and let me know she was there for me and explained everything nice and thorough. When I met Dr. Jones, within two minutes I felt safe in her hands and my anxiety started to ease by the minute. She let me know her practice may not be able to fix my problem, but she was going to show the other two dentists in the practice my X-rays and would get back to me asap. She let me know right away I would absolutely not be in this pain over the weekend and prescribed me antibiotics and medication and said she would call me after the meeting with her colleagues and go over my options. Again- the more she talked, listened, and consoled me the better I felt. I have never met anyone, dentist Or otherwise, so calm and compassionate. My only complaint is that she isn't a general dentist and I can't see her more often. She even gave me her cellphone number to let her know if I was still in any pain. WHO DOES THAT? Had my first root canal today and just can't say enough good things about these folks. I wasn't necessarily dreading it because I'd done enough research to know the procedure can be done without excess discomfort if the doctor manages the procedure correctly. I'm happy to say that was the case here....and I'm happy to say there was very little discomfort - a little needle jab in the gums (which were mostly numb) is never a great thing. But the balance of the bad stuff - drilling deep into the cavity and root of the tooth - I didn't feel a thing. As noted in another review, I'm a fan of women-run practices. Let's face it, women typically are more compassionate and sympathetic and that showed here. Their specialization in this area + a soft human touch when it comes to managing the patient and their experience in this area completely shined through! read more

I was in excruciating pain. My dentist referred me as he could not see what the problem was through X-rays, etc. Dr. Molgaard saw me and she was so great performed an emergency root canal. I had never had the procedure before but once she identified the tooth that was causing the entire right side of my mouth to experience unrelenting pain, she numbed me and relieved the pain immediately. The procedure was a piece of cake compared to my pain. If I could give more stars, I would. There are people who have fear of the dentists, and then those who are big babies.... I can't think of anything worse than those, but if it exists, I'm worse. I have a huge fear of dentists, endodontists.... but I was in pain. I had sought numerous consultations in and around Boston. Accidentally found Premier Endodontics. I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Molgaard and her team were so friendly, welcoming, calming, and patient with my "patient from hell attitude". I was nervous, scared, and all of the above. I am a terrible dental patient. I cry as soon as I even have my first glimpse of a piece of dental equipment. I had a root canal a few years ago with a total butcher, so that's what I thought the second root canal that I had yesterday would be like. Thank god my dentist, Dr Peter Dana of Watertown Dental, referred me to Premier Endodontics. I was treated by Dr. B and her assistant, Vicky. They could tell I was nervous (the subtle hints like the sobbing, shallow breathing, and trembling probably gave it away), but they were soothing and comforting. My biggest horror was that I typically can't get numb. The doctor who performed my first root canal barely had the Novocain needle out and he was on top of me with drills and surgical rods (or whatever barbaric equipment they use). I kept screaming that I could feel EVERYTHING. He was undeterred and just kept going. It was a horror and I'm sure you'll understand why I was completely terrified yesterday as I prepared to undergo my second root canal. But Dr. B gave me about a million shots of anesthesia and just waited out my slow-to-numb nerve. And she did it! She numbed me. Entirely. It was the first time I've ever gotten totally numb. When she put the protective glasses and that torture contraption dental dam on me and lowered the chair, I burst into tears anew. But then--miracle of all miracles--she started with the drills and rods and other heavy machinery and I felt nothing. I gotta say, it's kind of deeply disturbing to see her keep inserting these metal rods into my tooth. But I felt NOTHING! Seriously, my people--nothing. Nothing! If you're like me, and you never seem to numb up at the dentist, you know how major this is. Dr. B and Vicky managed to get me talking about my cat before they started working. These ladies know how to work. They figured out that I love my cat, and while they worked on me, rather than discuss the procedure ("Oh look! 90 hidden, misshapen roots. I've never seen such a dental disaster...this is gonna take a loooong time," or, "Can you pass me the 89 gauge needle to inject straight through the nerve"), they told each other about their pets. I heard about childhood cats, wandering dogs, litters of kittens. It was lovely. People, if you need a root canal, don't screw around. Go to Dr. B. read more

I cannot even find the right words to express how thrilled I am with this office. I needed an emergency root canal and they got me an appointment within 24 hours of me calling. I have a terrible dental phobia so going to the dentist is an ordeal for me and they were nothing but kind to me. Dr. Jones and Alexis at the front desk (sorry if I messed up your name) were PHENOMENAL. The procedure was painless and Dr. Jones made sure I was okay every step of the way, and Alexis helped make sure I was able to pay for the procedure in a way that wouldn't leave me unable to pay bills for the rest of the month. I woke up this morning pain free for the first time in weeks. I don't want another root canal, but I know exactly what chair I'll be in if I find myself needing one. Where do I begin? Dr. Jones is one of the most welcoming doctors I have ever dealt with. She is extremely nice and puts the patient first ALWAYS. I needed 2 root canals that she painlessly took me through. I came into it very worried about pain and discomfort but left with a smile on my face, dare I say it, enjoying my visit! I guess it is safe to say my phobia of root canals is gone! I was referred by my general dentist to Dr. Batsevitsky. I was nervous because I have never had a root canal before. The office is great, I was greeted at the front desk and asked if I want coffee or water. Dr. Batsevitsky was amazing! Not only is she extremely knowledgable but she explained the procedure to me and made sure I understood everything that would happen. The procedure itself felt painless and Dr. Batsevitsky is extremely gentle. It is a wonderful feeling knowing i will be able to keep my natural teeth. If anyone I know ends up needing a root canal I will be referring them here do that root canals can start being known as a great, painless dental procedure. read more

Dr Liz Jones and her partner are just the nicest most caring gentle practitioners, and when it comes scary endodontic work, that is exactly what you hope for. They made me feel really at ease, and they did everything possible to ensure my comfort through 4 visits and minimize the invasivness of my treatment. They explained every step to me treating me like a partner in my care rather than just a patient they did stuff to, and the listened to my concerns throughout. Once I realized just how experienced they were I just let them do their thing. Dr. Liz's dad was an endodontist and she has been involved in the field all her life. I really liked that they use the latest equipment so that they only had to make very small holes in my teeth allowing the tooth to retain as much natural structural integrity as possible so it will last longer, kind of like arthroscopic surgery but for you tooth :) Unfortunately I have had more than my fair share of dental issues, some of them caused by shoddy practitioners, but Dr. Liz and her team at Premier solved all my major dental issues. The fact that they did it in such a customer service friendly way with care and respect earns them the highest possible recommendation from me. Here is something that you never see, a Dr texting you after your appointment to ask how you are doing and opening up that line of communication seeking your feedback. That is exactly what I received from Dr. Liz! You just don't find that level of care, customer service, AND expertise in one business these days. read more

Just went there yesterday to do a root canal. It was absolutely amazing!!! I didn't feel any pain at all. only when she give me anesthetic was it a little bit uncomfortable, but it wasn't painful. I was so scared before I went there because I had been to another dentist twice for a root canal on the same tooth, but it was a nightmare...it hurt so bad when he opened the tooth until the nerve. and when he was trying to clean the nerves I almost passed out! so he recommend me to see the specialist to do it since I have a "complex" tooth... So I went to Dr. Jones. She is absolutely Dr. Perfect! She's loves and is very good at her job. My friend was sitting right next to me and had fun conversations with her while she was giving me the root canal which provided a very comforting environment. I was listening to their conversation and almost fell in sleep since I wasn't in any kind of pain! By the way the office was very pretty too, it has a good view and all the machines look way more professional than dental offices that I've been to. After a while I asked her if she was close to the nerves yet. she told me that all the nerves are out all ready and we are almost done.. I still can't believe that that I had a root canal without any bit of pain... I don't know how to thank her enough. only thing I can do for her is write a short review to spread the word! I'm not sure why you'd go anywhere else for your root canals. Hopefully you'll never need one but if you do, do yourself a favor and book an appointment with dr. Jones she's the best. She 100% knows what's she's doing and loves doing it and you can tell. I've always hated dentists because A. I have awful teeth and B. You never know what they're doing when they're poking around in your mouth. I've never been able to relax in a dentist chair but with dr. Jones I can shut my eyes and trust that I will feel no discomfort. And the check up texts the next day after your appointment are a bonus. All the people that work here from the receptionist to the 3 women dentists who own this practice could not be better technicians. I had a root canal done today with absolutely no pain. Many hours later I am still pain free after several months of my tooth disintegrating and causing more and more pain. No only was Dr. Jones' expertise and technique state of the art, the kindness of Dr. Jones and Luz put me completely at ease. In the past I have had root canals that were painful during the procedure and I had excruciating pain for weeks afterwards. My husband referred me to Dr. Jones because of his positive experience there. There also was a woman in the office who had a root canal before me. She was ecstatic about a dream root canal without pain. She said she had fillings that hurt more. The office atmosphere exuded care and respect among all the associates which spilled over onto all of the patients. Unfortunately this nurturing culture is not often present in many businesses. I highly recommend this practice. You will come out with a smile on your face instead of a grimace in your mouth.
