I had only wheel balancing done and when they found only two of the wheels needed balancing and not all four, they actually reduced the invoice. Finally a business with integrity! September 2024 I had Lex Brodie's Fast Lube change oil in my 2021 Subaru Forester. It was my vehicles 8th oil change. I returned to Goodyear for my 9th scheduled oil change and they could not get the oil plug out. They saw the oil plug had a yellow identification on it indicating Lex Brodie had changed my oil. I called Lex Brodie & they found my service record but took no responsibility for the oil plug not being able to be removed for Goodyear to change my oil. To get my oil changed I had to buy a new oil pan. My 9th oil change cost me $697.00. When I called Lex Brodie I was told they do not remove the plug to change oil. Had an oil change done, and a sensor went on within five minutes of exiting the property. Returned to ask for a diagnosis, and requested a small discount on said diagnosis due to the circumstances. The lady in charge quoted $150 for the diagnosis alone and called my wife entitled, amongst other things, for requesting a small discount. This lady ("manager") then tells my wife that we "shouldn't come back." Incredibly unprofessional, questionable business practices, and shoddy at best motor vehicle work. I'd rather watch a video and learn how to do it myself, can no longer trust this facility to not tamper with a vehicle that transports my FAMILY. It's sad that due to the size of the towns here that a place like this doesn't have sufficient competition to shut it down. read more

I have come to the Hilo location twice. Once with a loaner car and most recently with my car. Both visits were great. The first visit I had required waiting but I didn't mind. It was in the afternoon. Once I got in they serviced the vehicle rather quickly. All this was done with a smile. My second visit happened during opening. I was surprised that people were already there but it was no problem. I was second in line. Just like my first experience, service was quick and done with a smile. Personally it is nice to pay for a service and see that the staff are good natured. A nice thing about this service is that you get to use the vacuum for free. They do offer an option to include a car wash on your tab as well. They are a one stop shop! read more

This location USED TO BE great. I was a customer for years using everything from safety checks, oil changes, car washes, etc on both my car and truck until they hired a new manager that is single handledly ruining their business. I came in last month for my yearly safety and dealt directly with Justice, their new manager. She took great pleasure in informing me that she would not pass my vehicle as I have window tinting covering my back 3rd break light. Out of confusion I explained to her that we've had the car for 6 years and always passed safety as this exact location. Apparently she's the new sheriff in town looking for reasons to fail people and enjoys doing it. She was happy to tell me that there was a law into effect 12 years ago that you cannot cover the window break light with tinting and turned me away. I decided to try a different place where I passed until they scanned the bar code on the side of the door and found that she reported my vehicle to a police listing where everyone will now fail me until I "fix" it. I literally watched the car in front of me pass and pull away with the tint over their window brake too btw. I spoke with the Operations Manager for this location and he seemed just fine losing my business as Justice was backed up for her (frankly pretty sure RACIST) behavior. He did admit HE would have allowed me to use a different shop rather than to report me, which proves she didn't need to do that to me. I plan to boycott this location until she is finally found out for who she is and fired. So if you are looking for a FAIR safety check (or are white) you should probably use a different business until she is gone. Sad but honest. read more

Check light turned on and I was not sure where to get a simple oil change and car maintenance in Hilo. Luckily, I saw the Lex Brodie Fast Lube sign and parked in a space. As I was got out of my car an employee quickly greeted me. It was a short wait to be serviced. Then, several technicians did an oil change, check other fluids in my car, checked my windshield wiper, filters and added air to my tires. Good car wash but a bit pricey even with the grand opening discount. Lots of options for what kind of wash you want. The covered parking spots you see on the Kilauea Avenue side is the vacuum​ stations where they have a big clip to hold onto your floor mats while you vacuum out your car. Good for those Mondays when you need to get the weekend salt and sand off and out of your car after going to the beach. They gave complimentary air freshener and a wipe. Not the same level of service as McKinley Car Wash on Oahu but this is Hilo. I didn't try their Oil/Lube service. read more

Came for an oil change with no appointment. Really friendly, really fast, totally professional. They pulled all my car's info from carfax so they were able to tell me what I was due for and what I didn't need (which meant I thankfully didn't have to sit there guessing when I'd had my transmission fluid replaced last). I have to use a full synthetic oil or synthetic blend in my car, and when I asked which they recommended, he asked me what I primarily used the car for (e.g., not towing things around) and then advised I get the cheaper blend, which I think is what I normally get. Appreciated that it wasn't a default upsell, especially since I know so little about cars (can you tell?). Everyone was wearing masks and I never had to leave my car. They offer you a bottle of water while you're getting everything done. Will definitely be coming back here every time I need an oil change. read more

You would think the newest Lex Brodie would also come with the best trained knowledgeable and shooting for the highest customer service level possible. But this is actually the opposite. I've given them now three chances to prove they can operate at the minimum level of customer service. There people have zero communication skills, borderline rude, and she truly benefit from a special education program catering to basic communication skills. They closed early again without changing or notifying any other customers as I drove in the waved me off like I'm supposed to know sign language and then got upset when I kept trying to drive and all the doors are open but not one of them thought to put a sign up saying I'm sorry but work had to close early instead they all walk away. Turn their back on you and expect you to eventually drive away. This is the level that Lex Brodie operates at honestly they should send their people to R&Jtire to get some training. Was super happy when Lex Brodie's opened their car wash here in Hilo. Same good customer service that I was used to receiving on Oahu. The wash staff tries hard to catch the spots that need attention and always scrub the step runners. Wash is clean and does a good job, the tire shine is good too. Vacuums are free and strong, sucks out all the dog hair no problem. Get a wash membership, totally worth it. Don't forget to tip the wash staff. Went in to get a safety check on a Saturday at the last minute on the 30th. For a walk-in, it took 15 minutes. Inspector was polite and courteous. "Thank you very much" read more

Last year I had a great experience. the guy doing my safety never made me feel rushed and had great customer service. this time around, it was so different. the girl checking my lights and whatnot was talking so fast and rushing through it. i could barely hear what she was saying. i was shocked to find out that i had to take off my stickers because it couldn't be in the picture and they're cracking down on it. it was funny cause my sticker on my front windshield could be in the picture. i see so much people with stickers obstructing their view of the highway that pass safety check. Called Hawai'i County to find out the rules and the guy sent my the ordinance. it says " No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, or other nontransparent material upon the front windshield, side wings, or side or rear windows of the vehicle which obstructs the driver's clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway." (section 24-102) My stickers were not a problem for 5 years and they were off to the side NOT OBSTRUCTING my view. if anything my headrests block my view more and barely could even see my stickers from my mirror. anyways at least now i can get new stickers :) read more

Oil change: Hilo really needed a Jiffy-Lube type of service as I'd experienced in Los Angeles, except Lex Brodie's totally out-does Jiffy Lube on all levels. Super clean, very attentive and polite, full disclosure, great price for an oil change, they checked all fluids, fluffed the tires, explained everything. I have an older car that I needed to drive to Kona and back and I wanted to make sure all was in order before setting out. First time at this car wash since they opened, wanted to try it out since they got free vacuum use with every car wash. Prices for the best package is $16 per wash for everything they offer; they offered an unlimited membership for the month for each package. $49 for an unlimited membership of their ultimate package that includes everything. I was told that the first 2 months is a discounted $10 off for a total of $39+tax for the months and $49 + tax after that. My vehicle goes through unpaved roads and often get dusted, so I chose to try out this membership for the month to see how much I utilize my visits. Payed for my membership at the drive up automated paybox which also takes credit cards, drove through their security drop gate to be greeted by 2 of their workers. 1 for taking the membership information and giving you a chip reader to let the paybox know that you are a membership holder, sign the contract, and give any other information and the other to give you your car freshener (with every package) and dash wipe (with premium and ultimate package) and to pre-pressure wash your vehicle. Your vehicle goes on a conveyer belt, which the worker helps to align your vehicles tires onto it, instructs you to leave your vehicle in neutral and starts the wash. Just sit back and enjoy the foam wash and colored lights while your vehicle moves on down on the conveyer belt itself. At the end, wait for the green light to go after it has blow-dried your vehicle. Next step is to drive on up to the many vacuum cleaners included with every wash. Vacuums have powerful suction and is equipped on both sides of the vehicle so that there is no need for crossing over with one hose. There is a mat holder to hold up your mats to vacuum or just to hold. Loving this membership so far. Well worth the membership; about 3 visits of the ultimate package equals one full month of unlimited car washes and vacuum use. My vehicle gets dusted and dirt in the vehicle very often so it always needs to be cleaned. Paying for a membership and just driving up whenever I feel like it makes it easier to have my vehicle in a clean state. Returning after the first time is simple. Because of the chip reader that was given with membership the first time, the security gate with cameras/scanners reads the chip and allows you to pass after verification. Paybox asks for an upgrade which is $2 for a towel if you would like to add that on. Then let's you proceed to the greeter. read more

I went in for a safety inspection, super quick and a very nice, clean waiting room with a window where you can see them working on your car. The staff member doing my inspection came in to let me know my tires needed to change ASAP but he'd pass my safety if I promised to change them ASAP. I'm horrible with names but THANK YOU. Then my car wasn't starting after the inspection finished (a preexisting issue) and they helped push my car out of the way until I could get it started up. I'm currently at the Lex Brodie's tire center in Hilo getting 4 new tires put on. Mahalo! read more

Went to see about tires and most were $20-30 more than other places :0( Also they advertised that their fluid exchanges were "reasonable" so when I need to change my transmission fluid, I thought I would try them and save myself some work. Upon calling them, I found they charge $199 for the service! Really? "How long does it take?" I asked, thinking maybe they flush it twice. About 20 minutes was the reply. OUCH! I bought the fluid for $15 got a funnel for $7, jacked up my car, spent 30-40 minutes and saved over $150 including my time! I feel the service should be priced at $60-75 read more

I've been using several other car service places in town, and they are always backed up and need an appointment even for oil changes (which will still take an hour when you get there).
