Two of their workers were in my neighborhood this morning. I was driving at 28 MPH and the speed limit is 25. There are two cars parked on either side but there was still room for both of us to go. He decides to lay on his horn and flip me off when we both could've fit through. He's telling me I was going 40 in my neighborhood which is impossible. He just had to make something up to justify his uncalled reaction but even if I was going 40,50,60 MPH are you Lewis tree service or the police? He laid on the horn, multiple people came out of their homes at 7:30 AM. This company has terrible reviews and honestly need to train their employees better. Just because he wasn't actively on a job site doesn't mean he's not representing the company. I think the truck ID number is something like 1411060. When I decided to say how I felt back, he decided to call the police like expected. They do stuff and then want to play the victim. Lewis Services is a Tree Company hired by Baltimore Gas and Electric to do tree work around power lines. They were dispatched to remove a burning limb from the power lines caused by a neighbor's tree. I told them not to place the debris on my property, which they ignored. I have made several requests later, once by direct mail to their website and then again by phone wanting to know when this debris is to be removed, no reply, no phone call nothing. You can't even speak to a real person by phone. They will send you to under qualified doctors to tell you that your injuries aren't serious. They will act like you made up your injuries. They will block your driveway, deploy hydraulic supports for their machines that put holes in it and laugh when you bring up your concerns. They spit tobacco all over your property and leave trash behind. If you're really lucky they'll send a person to your door who barely speaks English to "ask for permission". There are no English-speaking supervisors on site. They break down gates and fences, provide no notice of their planned operations, urinate and sleep on our property, threaten and harass us when we try to defend our property rights and vegetation. Lewis Tree Service has destroyed the Scrub Oak trees that I have in my backyard from power line trimming done in Englewood FL yesterday. This 'company' was contracted by Florida Power & Light for tree trimming within the easements that FPL is granted in every property in Florida. Fine. State Law requires that FPL that if a property is on a 'main supplying line' (mine is) that FPL is REQUIRED to trim every 3yrs or inspect such line for hanging branches. The last time FPL's contractor caused damage to my trees was 9yrs ago. FPL does NOT follow state regulations with regard to tree trimming. I've called at least 6 times since the last trimming in 2011. I finally received 'confirmation' that that FPL will be out to my property within 'several weeks'. That was 18 months ago. So Lewis Tree Service appears Saturday and destroyed the nests of Scrub Jays, which are Federally Protected, but only between March 1 and June 1 each year. I pointed to 'foreman' that were at least 7 bird nests and squirrel nests. I happen to love wildlife. Lewis Tree Service apparently DOES NOT. Yes it is true that Lewis Tree Service is not in my opinion a 'caring, wildlife lover' as we are. But there is NO excuse to leave 4 foot long limbs dangling in the tree, disregard for what homeowners ask. Simply put? One of my trees? Looks exactly like a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' tree. I spoke with the foreman & asked for their price to trim my 3 palm trees, & they had a good price, AND they did the job right then, & they did a nice job plus cleaned up the debris. If I could give zero stars I would. Lewis tree services came out Thursday morning to remove branches from our front yard and along the street.. in the process of doing that they completely overlooked our AT&T fiber cable running from the power line through the branches and connected to our house. They ripped out the cable from the side of our house and now we have to wait four days for AT&T to come out and install a new one. Had they paid a little bit more attention to what cables and power lines were connected to the house we wouldn't have to be in the situation. Spend less time trying to get your job done in under an hour and spend more time checking what cables and lines are in the area. No one from the team apologized or offered to help whatsoever. read more

I would give this place a minus 5 if I could they were contracted by Med Ed to trim trees near power lines. I have had my 2-trees trimmed a few times and whoever did it them times dis a pretty good job but not sure what service did it. This time after they were done to my shock when I left the house the whole left side of both trees was gone every major limb gone. There is zero chance of regrowth on 2- 40 year old trees.No one in there right mind would even think of buying my house if I need to sell the new owners would want the 2-trees removed in which it would cost my estimate 4-5 thousand dollars . I am disabled and don"t have that kind of money. So thank you Lewis for your fast and half ass job. You only care about money and clearance not appearance or what the home owner thinks. Since Med Ed paid the bill they know they have the common man over a barrel and they would have to sue both companies and it would cost more than just removing the trees . So it would be a win win for Med Ed anyway they would never have to trim my trees again. Well I think they took care of that with the equivalent of a butcher job. They came into our backyard and left the gates open after they left the property. One of the other members of our household came home later and let our dogs out and one of them escaped. DUKE ENERGY in central Florida hired this ***** company as a sub contractor to trim the power lines on our rural community where there are cattle ranches hard to access residential homes and private land with gates etc. I noticed the work taking place so I found a foreman and scheduled a day for the cows and dogs to be confined so they could do work under the agreement of a text to make sure we were good as schedule. No text no call the company just decided to help them selfs and then wake my family with a horn blowing at our house to tell them they were starting ready or not! To many issues to list but they ran there truck through my fence left my yard full of ruts when Matts were asked to be used and a pond full of trimmed trees and debris. this company is crap and i have a meeting with duke to figure out the next step ! I only give them 1 star because "they work for the utility company". They destroyed our trees and tore up part of our yard with their equipment. On top of that they parked and left their equipment on our private property. There was no warning or notice of the trees being cut or that they would be leaving heavy equipment on our property. Contacted by power company. Sliced our entire tree in half and threw the cuttings down on our driveway so heavy that we couldn't leave while they were doing it. Tree looks terrible and more than 20% of the canopy is gone. I'm praying it comes back for spring this year with such a horrific hack job they did to it. They are contracted by BGE in Maryland, which is the only reason they're still in business, as they butcher trees, destroy landscaping and leave property gates open for animals to escape. I was not home when they arrived, and they did not knock on my front door (I have Ring security cameras and doorbell). They simply entered my property and proceeded to butcher a beautiful 50 year old redwood tree that I have certified arborists trim annually, to clear power lines and avoid BGE/Lewis employees destroying it. They trampled mounds of young budding daffodils underneath the tree - and left the main gate open for my animals to escape. When I later phoned and spoke to a supervisor, he regurgitated Lewis' talking points: "We follow BGE guidelines, our men know how to climb trees and use dangerous chainsaws. We trim every 4 years. You seem very angry, I will refer you to BGE." They best analogy I have for this company's 'skill' level and 'care', would be a doctor who treats a broken finger by amputating the entire arm. I have posted on facebook about how they swarmed all over my backyard without ringing the bell. My dogs were loose and were scared. If they had bitten these men, it would have been the men's fault. They ignored me as I ran around in a bathrobe and with bare feet trying to get my dogs. One guy threw his leg in my plastic wheelbarrow while he was adjusting his work gear and knocked over the wheelbarrow in the process. The last time Lewis came threw our neighborhood they were almost respectful of peoples property this time they could have cared less for your land. They cut my cable line and tore down my fence then went on like nothing happened. No one told me about it. I waited a few days then called them. They sent a representative out to look and said they weren't responsible for the fence because it is so old. It was up before they got here but they didn't do it. Lewis tree (Baltimore, MD) was contracted by BGE to clear lines. Two trees on my property were removed on November 22nd. They ended up damaging my verizon line and pulled wires from a power pole which left the wires exposed and dangerous. Accidents happen, however BGE said the wires did not belong to them but put caution tape on the conduit because it was not safe. I spent a week with comcast trying to get them to fix it. I work from home and have a child who had to do research. Now, I know that comcast is to blame for not fixing the problem timely, but, it needed to be fixed because of Lewis Tree. 1 1/2 weeeks later (Tuesday, December 3) I finally got my internet back. I was originally going to leave a good review because accidents happen and they seemed to be ready to work with me to rectify the problem by paying me for my time dealing with the issue they caused. (They could not fix the conduit). Monday they brought over a visa prepaid card. The card was opened and the guy who gave it to me said he opened it to check the balance. When I went to use the card a few days later, there was no money on it. The only person who had access to the card, was the employee who had opened the package. I'm and still waiting for them to fix this issue and bring me the money they promised. I would also like to see the gentleman fired that opened the visa and, more then likely, stole the money. read more

I would never use this tree service. They came out to clear a tree from storm damage and dropped all the branches right into newly landscaped flower beds and ruined everything. Even when I said something they continued used doing the same thing and then on top of it drug branches that fell through other landscaping. They had absolutely no respect for property. They could just as easily dropped the branches away from landscaping but could care less. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

They were subcontracted by ComEd to trim branches away from the power lines in the Wood Dale, IL area. Total lack of regard and respect for your property. Divots/holes left in the turf from the falling branches, branches left everywhere, the street left a mess and before leaving they blew the debris and leaves into the front yards. I will be spending hours cleaning up the mess they made. When I when out to speak w/them, they immediately pretended they didn't understand English. I filed a formal complaint w/ComEd and suggested that next time they don't take the low bid for their tree trimming work. Also notified the City of Wood Dale of the mess left in the street and advised they needed to bring out the streetsweeper before it rained and clogged the storm drains. Don't know how these people stay in business unless they treat the paying customers a whole lot better. I will be contacting the company itself on Monday - hopefully their customer service department is a lot better then the field people. read more

Lewis Tree Service was hired by National Grid to clear trees from wires after a big storm here in Rhode Island. There was a large (over 2 feet thick) branch hanging over my driveway leaning on a pole. I asked before they got started if they were going to block me in my driveway. They said no, definitely not. Well you guessed it.. they did just that placing the large tree directly across my newly paved driveway. If they had just told me I would have moved my car. The man in charge refused to cut log to unblock me and was very rude telling me that they didn't have a chainsaw large enough. He even littered on my property leaving his Gatorade bottle in my mess of trees .. as if I didn't already have enough to clean up. Very rude giving NatGrid a bad name. If I was NatGrid I would not use this company again as I see other complaints here. read more
