When these guys say they can tackle any tree of any size... they f*cking mean it. I had an extremely large cottonwood over my home that had dropped branches the size of full blown trees one too many times. It's location in between the narrow lots of the city proper made it an extremely difficult job. Multiple other tree removal companies told me this isn't something they we're able to help me with getting rid of. Josh and his team were able to come out, and within 6 hours had not only taken the entire thing down, but cleaned up their worksite. It was like they were never there, minus a 10,000+lb tree. DON'T CALL J.M. Tree Service! Even if u are a Senior when you request a free estimate, the owner Josh will come to your house and give you an inflated amount, request a 25% deposit at the time of the estimate and a signature. I thought the signature was for the proposal not the contract. Later when you compare prices with other arborists and say 'No' to going forward with the job from JM Services ...you will lose your deposit. Just great in every way. We have worked with JM Tree on at least three projects. On the first, they took about five trees off our half acre lot in the city. On the second, they took down some trees that had fallen and taken down a fence. On the third they did major pruning of an old oak. They're great to work with. They give a good estimate, they call in advance, the workers are efficient and friendly. They clean up everything, chipping the branches and hauling away the wood in the case of tree removal Most important, they do a great job. They are trained arborists and understand how to prune trees to keep them growing. You can see that they were looking at how best to prune the old oak. They're as careful as they can be to avoid damaging other plants and property -- sometimes you can see that after cutting a branch off a tree while high up, they try to aim for the ground in a way that doesn't harm any plants. Their equipment and large team allows them to be more efficient than other tree surgeons. For the first project - a major one that involved taking down about five trees -- , we had already gotten two estimates and we almost didn't get a third estimate. Thank goodness we did! JM Tree could do it less expensively and in much less time than the other tree surgeons could do. The other tree surgeons said the job would take weeks. JM Tree did it in a day or perhaps two, putting a huge crane over our yard to reach the backyard and lift the pieces of trees over the house. I needed a dying tree removed from our yard. We live in a neighborhood and our property is super close to the houses around it. The tree was literally the farthest point back of our yard and our neighbors behind us have a large fence and pool.. so if this tree fell on its own it would have caused considerable damage. We called around for quotes from tree removal places.. we had at least five quotes. I had a few other people come out and talked down to me, probably because I was a female, but this business was not one of them. They came out quickly to check out the property and said they would email me the quote that night.. and they did! They were clear from the start that they had a wait list for service because of delays due to covid restrictions and demand. We weren't looking for immediate removal so that was fine with us. i had called the office several times with silly questions and their receptionist is amazing.. always explained everything and when she didn't know the answer she would find out and call me right back.. that day. This is kinda unheard of with most businesses. This business is the only one that said they would take down our chain link fence and put it back up for us.. other businesses said it was our responsibility.. this was a huge plus. JM tree called us two days prior to them coming to take down our tree to advise us what to expect. The day of removal they came and were really quick to take down our tree. Only reason it's not five star is they left considerable damage to our yard in they dug up a lot of grass with their machinery. Also we have a large divot in the ground from where the large tree branch had dropped when it was cut. We will need to quite a bit of reseeding and adding dirt to fix the mess they made of our grass. Horrible Customer Service. Was given a very early morning time for their arborist to come out and prepare quote. Asked for something later in the day and was told they couldn't accommodate. If they are that inflexible for preparing a quote, I can only imagine trying to schedule the actual work. Told them I was no longer interested in doing business with them. read more

J. M. Tree Service is outstanding! They removed 5 HUGE mammoth trees from the back of my property which were in an area that was not easily accessible . With crew, a full sized crane and something that looked like a spider, these trees were successfully tied, cut, lifted over my house and then fed into a monster chipper. I hired J.M Tree Service to do a rather big job at my house. The job included the removal of 2 mammoth maple trees approximately 80+' tall and extensive pruning on numerous other large trees including another giant maple tree. These trees are approximately 60+ years old in West Irondequoit. Josh and his crew of 10 arrived promptly at 7:30 AM looking like an army. They were extremely well organized and prepared for the job. All of the workers wore headphones and microphones attached to their helmets for constant communication throughout the day. This company clearly spares no expense on equipment as they used 3 hydraulic bucket lifts, 1 crane, 2 wood shredders, and numerous machines to quickly remove the huge logs from The property. From start to finish this crew shared a great attitude and all of them seemed happy and excited to be there. I can't believe how fast and efficient they removed these monster trees all while navigating neighbors houses, fences and power lines. At the end of the day the entire crew raked, swept and blew all the debris from the property and helped restore a gazebo and basketball backboard that had to be removed for the job. This is a great company which cares about quality and is passionate about what they do. I will be calling J.M Tree Service for my future needs and I suggest you do the same. JM Tree was excellent. We had massive amounts of heavy brush taking over our backyard and several cherry trees that had to come out. Josh's arborist came out and discussed all of our options and they quickly sent a reasonable quote. The guys worked efficiently and did a top notch job. Josh stopped over the following weekend just to be sure everything was satisfactory. He noticed some brush that was an oversight and didn't make it into our contract so he personally used what he had on hand and excavated the rest of it for us at no extra charge. In August, JM Tree Service provided tremendous tree removal service. In multiple ways, they cut down two "50 foot" trees. Our neighbor has kept the tree trunks for future fireplace use. JM Tree took all the limbs and leaves and left little for us to clean up! Very Great. read more

JM Tree removed four large (75-100') trees and several smaller ones from our property and limbed up an oak that was overgrowing the house and driveway. They also ground out the stumps and the roots along the drip-lines of the trees. (Tree companies charge separately for these services, which are worth the money if you plan to plant a lawn or garden in the areas where trees were removed.) The three estimates we got for the work varied wildly in price. One quote from a reputable contractor was almost twice the amount of JM Tree's quote. Ultimately we chose JM Tree for three reasons: price, technology, and the time-frame in which they were able to get the work done. One contractor said it would be 6 to 8 weeks before he could get to the project. JM Tree did an electronic estimate on the spot, and were able to complete the job ahead of schedule, within two weeks of our initial call. We also like the fact that JM Tree is family-owned, with office staff to handle administrative details. The principals are both certified arborists. JM Tree uses crane technology to remove trees, cutting them into sections and loading them out with a crane, in some cases over the roofs of buildings, to the street. They removed all the trees in about eight hours, with a multiple-person crew. It took about another eight hours to grind out the stumps and the root systems around the large trees. The workers are careful, safety-conscious, and very efficient. They worked quickly and methodically and removed everything, even blowing the sidewalks and street before they left for the day. A couple of workers returned the next day to finish the root-grinding. JM Tree's work attracted a lot of attention from neighbors, perhaps because the crane removal process is so dramatic. JM Tree completed a couple of other smaller tree-removal jobs on our block the same day, at least one of which was booked on the spot. I was impressed with JM Tree's work, their price, and their thoroughness; they checked that everything was satisfactory and communicated well throughout the process. They are fully insured, wear hard hats for safety, and are careful workers. Joshua Miesch, the owner of the company, did the majority of the complicated crane work and was on-site for 13 hours the day the job was completed. He did not leave the site until the last worker had departed. I recommend them without hesitation. Just let your neighbors know in advance if you're having work done; chances are if there are many jobs in one place, the job might receive more time priority. read more

We had a VERY large dying Oak (~100' tall) behind our house. There was no direct access to the tree from the street or a driveway, but the plan was to cut 2 slightly smaller (60+') trees to gain access to it from the neighbor's driveway, then over some landscaping. All 3 trees were in relatively close proximity to the house and posed potential danger in strong winds, with the addition of the dying Oak dumping leaves starting in July and getting progressively worse as years went by. Their Arborist came out to do an estimate on what would need to be done, it was written up, and I gave the go-ahead after consulting with neighbors to access from their driveway. On their windiest, nastiest day in October 2019, they showed up with a crane, remote-controlled basket-crab thing that looked like a scorpion, a logging truck, and a giant chipper towed by a dump druck. The owner maneuvered the basket into position, and commanded the troops operating the other equipment via headset, with military precision.....the crane extended over 70', was tied to the tops of the smaller trees which were cut off at the base, and then they were "walked" over to the chipper and fed in cut-trunk end first. Once they got those out of the way they proceeded to work on the Oak, cutting it in stages starting at the top and hoisting the cut parts via crane RIGHT OVER THE HOUSE to drop the logs into the logging truck ("don't worry, we have insurance...."). It was fascinating to watch and the end result was exactly what I had hoped for. Best part about the whole operation is that the crane and crabby-bucket had to maneuver through my dry stream bed and plantings, and somehow managed to not disturb a leaf. There was some indentation from the weight of the machinery in the mulch, but nothing that couldn't be resolved. I had them limb up 3 birches in the front while they were there, which turned out great. Whole operation done in 3.5 hours. TOTALLY worth it. I should add I had gotten quotes from 2 other entities for the job of removing the Oak and none of them felt they could do it, and BOTH highly recommended I go with JM to get it done. Was told that they would call within about a week with a days notice and a two hour window for the appointment which is only during the day. Seriously? Had to take this guy to court to get my deposit back! His standard contract language says that a deposit is required and is non-refundable! It also says in the contract that he is not be responsible for damage to driveways and property. I said that I would not sign that contract, so he agreed that he would refund my deposit, especially if my neighbor refused to allow the 60 ton crane on her driveway to do the work. I asked him for my deposit back and he refused, even though he acknowledged the commitment to return it. I won a judgement against him. In my opinion, he is not a professional business man and I would never recommend him. read more

I would not know how good they are. I would not bother calling this company if you think you have a relatively small and fast job to be done. I called for someone to come out and give me an estimate to have a high tree branch cut down and was told over the phone that there was a 400 dollar minimum charge. The website should specify that they have a 400 dollar minimum. I felt my time was wasted and had to hang up on the person because she went on and on apologizing after I told her I did not think the work to be done would be 400 dollars (a neighbor just had their huge evergreen taken down for 400 dollars). Again, this company should specify they have a minimum charge of 400 dollars and at least give examples of what a 400 dollar job is!!! read more

The company was on the street at 7:30 removing trees for a neighbor. It was clear they were quite professional and we had a pine that was blighted and needed to come down. Our neighbor said he would ask the owner to stop by. Initially a young woman on the tree removal team came over and explained the nature of the disease in our tree and that it did, indeed, need to be removed at some point. She was entirely professional and quite knowledgeable (we only later found out she is the wife of the Company Owner Josh). Josh came by later and quoted a price that was quite reasonable. Josh and his team (and it was quite a team with a remarkable array of equipment including a crane capable of extending to a height of 100'), came over when he had finished the prior jobs on the street and insured that clean up (broom clean) was complete. He removed the top of the tree (a good 50 feet in height) and carefully lowered it to the street, maneuvering around other trees and a street light. He then removed the bottom of the tree, cut it and chipped the smaller branches and sawed the trunk into log sized section for carting away. The three had a massive trunk and had been covered in climbing euonymous which he had to peel back from the trunk. They cleaned up after themselves (our street may never have been as clean even after the city sweeping trunk comes through). By early evening, Josh brought the stump grinder and took the stump well below ground level. He noted I could use the stump shavings as mulch and then was kind enough to warn me that it would be somewhat acidic (due to the nature of the tree removed) and should not be applied around fragile or new plantings that did not tolerate an acidic soil. He then broom swept the area. The entire operation was conducted with a professionalism and pride of work that I have rarely seen in contractors. His price was quite fair and remarkably all-inclusive. Each member of his team showed great courtesy. read more
