Start to finish, wish I had never called them to install a fence for my daughter…read more 15 weeks from contract to installation, had to come back due to incredibly poor work, missing parts, gaps that her dog could fit through that my husband had to fix, no showed for the first fix and wasted my time going to meet them, left numerous pieces and parts in the yard when they left, terrible communication, rude employees. But they took off $200 from a $4600 job! So I guess that should make it all better. All around the worst company I've ever dealt with. Would give them zero stars if I could.

The…read morefence was not installed and anchored appropriately for the property-specific soil, so I called them about repairing the fence, as the panels were still in good shape. They had not interest in reusing my panels and claimed it would be more expensive to reuse my panels than to buy new ones (which makes no sense). They also said that they install all fences posts the same (30" deep) regardless of soil conditions and would not adjust there strategy to soft soils. They came across as dishonest and with a complete lack of technical "know how" for all but the simplest installations. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

In a world where no one can be relied upon, Axis Builders shows up on time, when they say they will, and they do what they say they will do. In a world of jerks, Axis Builders are nice! I found Axis Builders on Yelp when I was looking for someone to build a wooden fence for my back yard. They were very communicative during the pre-build process when we tried to map out where the fence would go. A couple days before construction was to begin, I noticed that they had called 811 and had had the area flagged for underground wires (again, they are on the ball). The fence looks amazing! My neighbors across the street, seeing how speedy and nice the fence went in, walked over and got Axis's card for to build their deck. And another neighbor, seeing my pictures online, also will hire Axis to build a fence. To say that I am happy with the service is an understatement. The whole process was stress-free with no drama.

Both installations were done professionally and to my satisfaction. Fast forward to spring of 2019 - I damaged the chain link gate across my driveway. I contacted Whitmore and after several messages left on their answering service, I got a response that as soon as a crew was in my area (Cortland) the gate would be looked at. A month later I called again and was told the same. It is now nearly 5 months later and I have yet to get any response from Whitmore. I am very disappointed. As we all know, this is the most expensive fence company in the area and their work is generally top notch. The lack of customer service is surprising and disappointing. I am driven to post this negative review after my fruitless efforts to get a response from them.

I asked them if they could call versus waiting for an email and they said no. They then said who ever told me 4 weeks was wrong and they were out 10-12 weeks. Hmmmm the whole reason I scheduled a quote was based on 4 weeks. The guy that did the quote said 4 weeks was good. Attitude of the office manger (hope she is the owners wife) was horrible. While all of it was childish behavior I was shocked that the far more aggressive of the two was using a company truck. He was driving a white GMC Canyon pickup with ARROWFENCE.NET listed on the tailgate and the company logo and phone number on the door. This guy was completely out of hand, brake checking, riding the center of the road so people could not pass, speeding up, and slowing down. It was dangerous and shocking. Frankly, I did not see the other driver do anything offensive. I am often between Florida and NY and there is no way I would use this company with that unstable hothead running it. The driver must have been the owner because when I called the number on the truck to complain he answered and then hung up the phone. I have a photo and video of the incident for the police. I will post on social when I have more time. Business owners should set better examples. Do not spend your hard-earned money with this company. Suffice it to say I had nothing but issues from day 1. To say I'm disgusted with John and Balland would be an understatement. Never let Balland fence install a fence in Dec., Jan., or any other month for that matter. It was a nightmare trying to get them to rectify the issues from the fence not being level, broken hinge caps, and a cracked gate post. Starting in late March and early April and several phone calls, I was able to get Balland to level the fence, but John said he had to order the hinge caps. The real problem began when I tried to get them to replace the cracked gate post damaged during the installation. I told them on May 11 and Maureen asked me to send pictures for John to look at, which I sent on May 12. After several follow up calls, Maureen advised that John saw them and he would be out to look at it the next week. Finally on August 13, John came out to look at the post at which time he said he was calling bullshit and that I caused the crack. I told him I had nothing to do with it, and after some back and forth conversation, John said he would replace the post and hinge caps and it would be the last time he would come here. Again, after numerous follow up calls, I received a call from Maureen that they would be here on 9/21. Two employees of Balland showed up late on the afternoon of 9/21 and replaced the gate post and hinge caps. The removed post had large cracks on 3 sides, proving I did not do it. I'm still not 100% satisfied, but I'M SURE IT WOULD DO NO GOOD TO SAY ANYTHING!!! Overall I would give John and Balland Fence Co. a 1/4 star rating and that's being generous. The company and John are unresponsive, lacking in customer service, lacking in courtesy and lacking in quality workmanship. If you need a fence put up, BEWARE OF THESE GUYS!!!
