I can't speak more highly of Lew. I was in a real bind, in the middle of a complete gut remodel of my home in La Jolla, and needed Lew to jump in midstream. He did. Hiring Lew to take over was the best decision I could have possibly made. Before meeting Lew, my experience with the entire home renovation industry was awful. Continually I ran into people who wouldn't answer phone calls, would be late or just not show up, would not hit deadlines, were untrustworthy, and didn't care about the quality of their work. Lew is the opposite of everything above. If you want a professional to do your job, hire Lew. Learn from my experience, don't try to save a buck. If you don't hire Lew, in my opinion, its a gamble that could cost you a lot of money. It did to me. Lew was unbelievably responsive. Via text, email, or phone, he always promptly responds. (In fact I get a kick out of the person below who gave him a one star for replying that he was overbooked. Seriously?? What a BS review. Are you going to rate Phils BBQ one star because there's a line?) He is reliable and shows up when he says he will! Here's the most important thing about hiring Lew. HE CARES. He takes so much PRIDE IN HIS WORK. When he remodels, he doesn't just do a job that's "good enough." He does it the right way. Every time. You don't have to go back and check his work. Lew reports he has too much work, cannot take on more (regardless if project is small) and is unavailable to provide any estimates for the future. He states he has posted this information on YELP, but YELP doesn't like it and keeps removing it. He was a tiny bit huffy (not rude) and sounded frustrated about being contacted by yet another YELP caller that he is unable to accommodate. Not sure, but as he is absolutely and totally overloaded and unavailable, save both of yourselves some time and skip to the next handy person/contractor. We decided to replace our ancient wall oven but the new double wall oven we purchased was larger than the old one and we didn't know if the existing wall cabinet cutout could be enlarged to accommodate it or if we would need to tear it out and build a new cabinet from scratch. Lew (and Jason) came over and proposed that the existing cabinet could be modified to fit the larger oven, that the existing cabinet drawer below the oven could be made smaller to fit the remaining space, they could remove & take away the old oven, and set the new oven and make the electrical hookup. The estimate for the whole project was reasonable and my sense from our conversation was that they really knew what they were talking about and we signed a contract, to begin work in about one week. When they came to start the project, watching Lew and Jason work it was clear to me that they are skilled, careful, and efficient craftsmen. Unexpectedly, an electrical issue arose because the electrical junction box in our wall behind the old oven wasn't located in accordance with the new oven's requirement. Lew had to cut out the drywall behind the oven, re-position the junction box, and do a drywall repair afterwards (which required a trip back to the shop for new drywall). This was more time, work, and material than contemplated in the original project estimate but they didn't impose an extra charge for this. The redone cabinet and new oven installation look great. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of work and anticipate asking them to come back for a few other projects that we have in mind for the house. read more

He promptly arrived as scheduled with his son Jason. As he looked over our area, he came up with a better design than I could have imagined for separating our space. He built a frame and installed a pocket door. Jason did a fabulous job knocking out a wall and framing it with molding that matched other molding in the room. They left the work area clean. Lew and his team completed a long Honey-Do list for me that included installing a cooking pot rack from the ceiling - something that needed to safely hold 50+ lbs.
