The back story is we were looking at working with this contractor on a home we wanted to purchase…read more The home was not completed so we needed him to make a bid for the completion of the project and pull permits so that we could get a loan for the house. In order to purchase the home we needed a permit to build. In order to get a permit on the home we needed an engineer's sign off since the home was not permitted in the past. It was the contractor's responsibility to get an engineer to sign off on the building so that we could get a building permit and buy the property. After months of waiting the contractor failed to get an engineer to sign off on the home, we couldn't obtain a permit, so we lost the house/funding. We had already moved all of our stuff up to WA and this rendered us houseless. Furthermore, I spoke to the engineer and it appeared he had no plans to sign the house off as safe to live in. Since we are out of towners I feel like this contractor was attempting to bully us into a payment and then throw his hands up at the last minute and say that the home would never be approved to occupy by the county. During the bid process and permitting process Jason said many times that "he did not know how to do this" or was unsure on what the county/bank was asking. I think the project we were asking him to complete was simply too big for his experience level and he realized that towards the end and that is why it seemed to be clear that he was slowly pulling out of the project but wanted payment even though he knew that this project would not move forward. We agreed to pay a $2,500 deposit to the contractor when the building permit was obtained from the county. Now that we have no permit, no house, and no contract to build, this man is trying to force us into paying the deposit on our contract. I have told him I would pay for his time since it was a long investment, but he has failed to provide an itemized invoice of the time that he spent on putting things together. I have sent several emails to him trying to work with him on this but no response. I have moved to this area with my little family, and I am scared for my life due to the threats I have received from this contractor. He has told us that, "when people fuck us around, we have options." I am not sure what options this man is referring to but it does not make me feel comfortable or safe and above all it is poor business practices. This review is just meant to be cautionary. If you intend to use this contractor for anything other than a small project please be wary. He does not have the experience for it.

Right after I bough my house my water heater went out earlier this summer. Ryan came out right away (same day!) and helped me get everything setup for a very reasonable price. He was so personable and considerate about how he did the work, how he cleaned up afterwards, and helping me out with understanding the water situation here since I was new in town. Fast forward to today. I was really struggling with how hard the water is here (my hands were cracking and it isn't winter yet!). Because of limited space at my home to install a water softener/filter system, I found a system that worked well for my space but it would require some routing of pipes, etc. to make things work. Ryan sent Jesse to take care of the job, and Jesse was great, too! It ended up being more work than anticipated and he was great about letting me know everything it would entail. He was also very conscientious and knowledgeable. He was very friendly and patient while we spent the time figuring out the best placement for the system. And he went above and beyond to write down the instructions I'll need to maintain my filter replacements in a year (and even going so far as to label my valves so I can follow the instructions easily, and the labels for the filters so I don't get them mixed up a year from now). He was so helpful and took such good care of me! I had other questions and he answered them without hesitation. And, Ryan (the owner) was great about providing me a very fair price for the work. Our experience with Dave from Fixquisite was mixed. At the start, we appreciated his willingness to…read moretake on a unique project and help us stay within our budget. Parts of this remodel likely wouldn't have happened without his early collaboration, and we were hopeful based on those initial conversations. However, as the project when on, we increasingly felt that our job was not a priority. We had made a unique agreement in which we would complete much of the labor ourselves with up to 40 hours of coaching from Dave, since we were newer homeowners and wanted to do things correctly. In practice, we ended up relying on YouTube and friends/family for guidance because Dave was often disengaged, distracted, or would send images of ideas without explaining how to implement them. On days he scheduled to work with us -- days we rearranged our own busy schedules for -- he often arrived late, came unprepared, or left to attend to other customers. Site visits were either brief and repetitive or long but unfocused, and at times occurred before we confirmed he could stop by. Overall, we did not feel that our time (or his) was used efficiently. We also encountered multiple instances of rushed or careless workmanship, which we were left to correct ourselves: protruding missed nails, uneven framing, and lack of attention to drywall details, among others. While his partner, Gary, was consistently helpful and professional, Dave himself occasionally shared unsolicited and inappropriate personal commentary (such as suggesting we research legal separation and/or a prenup based on his personal life experiences and telling me about women he found attractive at the bar or women he was interacting with on dating apps). As the project neared final inspection, Dave became dismissive of our concerns about time management and increasingly insistent about being paid immediately. He sent invoices before gathering our final receipts and before the inspection was complete (the first inspection did not pass). Although we hadn't set a strict contractual timeline, we had verbally agreed on aiming for Thanksgiving. Despite this, he pressed for urgent payment during our workday, insisting it was due prior to the holiday. He claimed the payment was "past due" even though we paid him the same day the inspection passed. For receipt reconciliation, he had agreed to a specific deadline. Despite receiving receipts prior to that deadline, he delayed addressing the details of the receipts, suggested our expectation of the deadline being met was unreasonable, and completed the task late. In the end, we are grateful for the improvements we made to our home and paid Dave (before Thanksgiving). However, the overall experience left us feeling disappointed and hesitant to enter into an arrangement like this again, and we will seek out a different team for future projects. We had hoped for a more professional and attentive process.
