When the previous owners retired after over twenty years and closed the business it created a serious issue for us of where to board our dogs when we needed to get out of town and could not bring them along. But this story has a very happy ending... new owners for this business were found and reopened the business recently. The owner we met is named Kari and from our initial meeting through picking Koko and Blue up after four days of traveling away from home we were very pleased with their care and devotion to all things dog. Stop in and check it out. I am sure you will be as pleased as we were. 4+ stars here.

We brought our dogs here for obedience, behavior correction, boarding & training, and agility--and it has been life-changing! The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about what they do. Not only did our dogs learn so much, but we did too--they took the time to teach us how to properly handle and communicate with our dogs, which made such a huge difference at home. The facility is clean, safe, and full of positive energy. You can tell everyone truly cares about the dogs and their progress. We noticed improvements right away, and our dogs (puppies) are happier, more confident, and better behaved than ever. Also, Amina and Darick, we were sent updates on the puppies progress. If you're looking for a place that truly understands dogs (and their humans!), The Canine Ranch is the best choice you can make. Highly recommend!

We brought Ingrid all the way from the Bay Area for a board and train and would do it again in a heartbeat. At the time I had a new baby and had no clue how to manage the new resource guarding behavior, extra barking, and unsafe leash pulling which was a nightmare while recovering. After 4 weeks we were totally equipped to support Ingrid and she's been well-behaved ever since!

We immediately had him…read moreevaluated by two veterinarians, including appropriate testing, and confirmed the issue was behavioral--not medical. We contacted Bark Busters in Livermore due to strong reviews. That trainer referred us to the trainer covering our area, Sarah Harrington. She assured us she had handled similar cases many times and that their method--different from traditional training--could correct the behavior, although there is no guarantee. Based on that, we agreed to proceed despite the high cost. The fee is $1,875 (lifetime training), paid in full upfront. In hindsight, that should have given us pause. At the initial visit, our dog reacted very negatively--barking continuously and backing away. This was unusual, as he is normally friendly with new people. The trainer also appeared fearful, explaining she had recently been bitten by another dog. A significant portion of the session was spent reading from a binder rather than actively engaging with us or demonstrating techniques until after the total fee was paid in full. This method does not use treats at all. We followed the approach consistently for over three weeks. Instead of improving, our dog became more fearful, his personality seemed to change, and the aggression worsened. When we raised concerns, we were told to continue. The trainer did not proactively check in; we were told follow-up was our responsibility. Given the seriousness of the issue and the cost, we expected more support. We ultimately decided to stop. No partial refund was offered. We were told the contract would become void if we did not re-engage within seven days. We were also cautioned about posting a negative Yelp review. We are sharing our experience so others can make an informed decision. We hope your experience is better than ours.

The dog she had selected had behavioral issues that she knew were correctable.  She had to deal with all of the negative behaviors and train her until she not only behaved acceptably but is now just an incredible pet.  Though we had been more border collie people, when we came to Kirsten to help us pick the right dog she chose the perfect match for us. This dog will sit, lie down, and wait until we say it's ok before she eats her food. We've never had that in any previous dogs. While she sometimes tests the boundaries, she also knows that the kitchen is off limits and she's not allowed on furniture. She loves to play ball, fetch, and just run joyously around the yard. Kirsten told us that she had to teach her to play. It seems that she may have been used as a breeder and not treated very well. I have a deteriorating medical condition which I'm sure our dog will adapt to and be good company for me, and then be a great companion for my husband down the road. We truly feel that this dog and the training Kirsten provided were heaven sent.

We've worked with the UC Davis Vet Behavioral School as well as multiple trainers and thankfully, we were referred to Judith at Red Mountain Canine as a trusted, responsible caretaker. My partner and I have put in countless hours of training and it's very important to us that whoever takes care of Ollie minimizes his triggers and respects his limits as to not regress on our progress made. Judith is a god send! We did a meet-and-greet and then boarded our dog with her for 4.5 days. This was the first time both of us were away from him since rescuing him in April 2020. She's incredibly thorough in making sure she has all the necessary care information and is very thoughtful with how she engages with our dog. Our dog is very sensitive and Judith is the perfect match for him. She is patient, communicative, and professional. She gave Ollie his medicine in the morning and evening and helped make progress on his behavior training plan (stranger danger). She also sent us awesome updates and photos during our trip.
