I buy my dog and cat food and most pet basics here. Everyone has always been nice and helpful, if…read moreneeded. But I recently noticed our young cats have fleas. I'm not using toxic flea treatment, so I headed to petco for flea shampoo and a flea comb. Tell me why petco carries neither of those items?? That is crazy, these are basics. I can choose from about 20 different deshedding brushes, and 15 different different shampoos for various skin and coat issues, but a basic flea comb and shampoo? Nowhere to be found. I was able to find flea shampoo at tractor supply, but ended up having to order flea comb on Amazon. I don't know why this seems so absurd to me, but it does.

Some dogs are really well behaved, others are not. That really depends on the owner. If this freaks your cat out, which it inevitably will, Vetco will refuse to perform services. This happened to me today. It would make more sense if there was a dedicated semi-private space to do vaccinations so the animal getting treated isn't surrounded in the open by a legion of other animals, some with inattentive and less than responsible owners. I wish they would have let me know they are dog friendly but not cat friendly. After driving an hour each way only to be made to wait, then denied services because the purebred Malamute behind me wouldn't stop shrieking and freaking out my cat ..... I offered to take the cat of the carrier myself, hold him and endure any of his venom so they could simply give him the jabs we needed and we could go. No, no they said. They had to remove him from the carrier themselves, Petco's policy. I offered to open the carrier. No, no they said ... all of the dogs freaking him out might make him bolt, they said. Why don't you wait until the dogs are gone, they said. Then we can look at him. So, we waited until everyone else's appointment was over. They tried to bring him out again according to Petco rules ( on a leash, and no opening the carrier by the top ....), but new dogs kept walking in, and since the vaccination area is right by the front, walking right up to the vaccination table ...... My cat growled once. That's it, they said. You're not getting the vaccinations you need, they told me. Go to a full service vet, they told me. Doesn't matter if he's late now on his vax schedule, thanks to Vetco. At least not to Vetco. Looks like I have to go find a low cost clinic near me. Hopefully I can. I can't afford a full service vet. But my cat needs his vaccinations. Not. Cat. Friendly.

We have a challenging pandemic rescue dog named Ollie and we have not been able to leave him…read moreovernight or travel without him in the last two years due to our concerns about his reactivity and fear-aggression. We've worked with the UC Davis Vet Behavioral School as well as multiple trainers and thankfully, we were referred to Judith at Red Mountain Canine as a trusted, responsible caretaker. My partner and I have put in countless hours of training and it's very important to us that whoever takes care of Ollie minimizes his triggers and respects his limits as to not regress on our progress made. Judith is a god send! We did a meet-and-greet and then boarded our dog with her for 4.5 days. This was the first time both of us were away from him since rescuing him in April 2020. She's incredibly thorough in making sure she has all the necessary care information and is very thoughtful with how she engages with our dog. Our dog is very sensitive and Judith is the perfect match for him. She is patient, communicative, and professional. She gave Ollie his medicine in the morning and evening and helped make progress on his behavior training plan (stranger danger). She also sent us awesome updates and photos during our trip. You can tell she really cares about her clients :) We are really thankful to be able to work with Judith and she gives Ollie the time and attention he needs to be successful. We had Anna out for our first session yesterday. She was AMAZING. Our dogs learned so much in…read morejust one session - but also, so did us humans. We've always had door greeting chaos. She showed us the best ways to work on calming things down when visitors arrive, and also provided ways our children can help be involved training - and making sure our dogs are responding to small children in appropriate ways. Anna gave us so many tools that our girl ACTUALLY responded to. She brought out the sweet dog that we see all the time, but others don't because of how excited and anxious she gets over everything. We learned a ton about reading body language and how to help build our dogs confidence so she can enjoy more of this world. I noticed my cat was agitated and she had her paw on her crate where I could see her nails were not clipped. I questioned Jan and said she just did not do it because she tried to bite her. She also did not brush her rear because my cat would not let her. I have never had a complaint from any groomer or from Jan before. Jan verbally abused me in front of a customer while trying again as I was holding my cat telling me not to tell my cat she was ok. Jan's voice rose and said I am not doing this while you are telling her it is ok to bite me. Strange experience. Will not ever recommend this groomer. I so agree with Joel H. post on Nov 7, 2025.
