An unplanned walk-in that turned, quite happily, into a small celebration. Good Brothers…read moreunderstands that barbecue is less a meal than an event, and it stages one with easy conviviality: a table of friends, a few drinks, and a steady procession of skewers arriving as quickly as you can order them. The seasoning is the triumph here. There is spice, confident but never domineering, and real flavour in the meat rather than smoke standing in for it. The skewers are modest in size, which is a virtue: it invites grazing, and it encourages the table to be adventurous. Service is warm and notably brisk, so the rhythm of ordering and eating never falters. If there is a caveat, it is one of appetite arithmetic. Order generously, then order again. A thoroughly good time.

I came here a couple days ago after a Chinatown festival around 10 PM, it was pretty busy. We had…read moreto wait about 10 minutes to be seated. They gave us the table directly in front of the counter where the cashier stays, so I requested a different table which we then had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes for. This is not at all a complaint as it was requested. The service was good but most of the servers didn't really speak English, which I guess is to be expected in Chinatown. I don't have any complaints about that. The food took about 10-15 minutes once ordered. We ordered the Grilled Squid, Grilled Oysters, Beef Ribs, Chicken Thigh Skewers, Bean Curd Rolls w/ Cilantro, Grilled Eggplant and Cauliflower. Pretty much everything was over flavoured and lots of MSG. The beef ribs were quite good. Not the best I've had but good. The chicken skewers were fine. The oysters tasted pretty decent but I only had a couple bites of one because I'm not a huge fan of oysters. The bean curd rolls were fine but they could have been better if they took the time to put just cilantro leaves in there not the whole stems, which made them take forever to chew. The grilled eggplant was good only because I love eggplant, there was waaay too much seasoning for the thin piece of eggplant. The cauliflower was my favourite but again, the seasoning should be toned down. The Grilled Squid we both took one bite of and could immediately tell it was either not fresh or not good quality so we didn't eat it. They removed it from the bill as requested which we appreciated. They had free self serve slushies which was a cute touch. Overall the staff and service was good but the food was below average, which was disappointing given the restaurant's rating.

Our sides were the Mac and cheese and the potato salad. The sides are the BBQ southern style, so a bit softer in texture but still nice to eat when you consider the style. Banana pudding was tasty. They have tables for seating inside. Most people ordered takeout. There is some street parking right outside. Service was super friendly. They gave us free wings to try as well and told us about the history of the shop and the owner. I am not a big BBQ person nor do I usually care about service aside from speed, but they were so nice that this bumped my rating to a 5. Really enjoyed it and would come back!

It served that soft round sweet bun reminiscent of Chick-fil-A. The brisket barbecue beans are exactly that. Barbecue beans, with a slight spice to it and some big chunks of brisket. Yum! The brisket sandwich is also excellent. They asked if I wanted it in slices or chopped and I had it chopped and loved it. The barbecue sauce is more in the ketchup beside, but that's fine. Coleslaw is OK. The serving of cornbread is small for the price. They don't serve barbecue chicken, which I found surprising but I love the brisket and the turkey and will be going back for more! And the guys working, they are very friendly.

My ribs were tender but not enough flavor. The brisket wasn't tough but wasn't super tender either, the fatty part was the best. Again not enough flavor. This came with a sausage, I got the jalapeño cheese which was delicious and dense. The best part of the tray was the mac n cheese. There is bbq sauce at each table which helped add more flavor to the meat. The pace is pretty big with a limited amount of seating inside. But they have a patio area as well.

The booths are quite private and the ambience is relaxed and downscaled. No pretentiousness here! Our server,MJ, was bubbly, fun, and attentive. We ordered beef short ribs and beef tenderloin. There were multiple sides that came with dinner. See pictures. The food was amazing. We finished absolutely everything. I must say that the service is speedy and it's not a wining/dining experience. I felt like it took a really long time to get our orders. My husband ordered the Pad Khi Mao Spicy Noodles with no spice, shrimp and chicken and he enjoyed his dish. He said it tasted really good but the portion size was small and he was still hungry afterwards. I ordered the XL Tom Yum Soup and it would definitely not serve 3-4 people as a full meal as advertised. It was almost equivalent to a large bowl at my favourite restaurant for Tom Yum Soup and it was $10 more expensive. The soup also tasted extra tangy or sour. I did not love the soup and it didn't settle my upset stomach. I would give the soup 3 out of 5 stars. Would we return? It is not likely we would return to this restaurant. We have lots of other Thai restaurants we prefer.

Coleslaw was one of the best I've ever had! Chicken wings were very overcooked, shrunken and dried up as if they'd been in a fryer for far too long. We had to ask for drink refills and then also get our servers attention to request our check once we were ready to pay. The dry wings and inattentive service are the reasons for 4 stars instead of 5.
