Avis Rent-A-Car

TL/DR: Everything went well, so I have no complaints at all…read more ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had to rent a car on 1-21-2026 while my own was awaiting parts for repair. I chose this Avis/Budget simply because its the closest to my home. I booked the rental online, and when I arrived onsite the next day, the car was ready. The Jeep Compass was remarkable new with only 11,000+ miles on it, still with new-car smell, and gas tank was full. On 2-10-2026, I returned it with full gas tank, no damage, and no dirt that a 10-second vacuuming of the driver's floormat couldn't clean. Since I'd heard horror stories of rental agencies adding extra fees for damage, dirt, or less-than-full tank, I was a bit apprehensive that I might get billed extra and thus have to start a grievance process. But nope, the final billing turned out to be exactly what was stated from the start. So I have nothing bad to say about this Avis outlet. They treated me well!

DO NOT RENT from this location. Went there last night to pick up a standard SUV. The gal working…read morethe counter handed us the key and told us where to find it. First red flag - get the car and it is FILTHY, both inside and out, and the reason was they don't have a car wash on site. Unacceptable but whatever, we'll quickly wipe it down. Second red flag - every other place I've rented from does a walk around with you to look for damage. We walked out and the car is covered in big scratches, multiple dents, plastic trim falling off, etc. Went back inside and told her at which point she offered to come out and gave me a receipt marked with all the places the car was damaged. Third red flag - drive off and the alignment is absolute trash, car is pulling hard to the left. Make a U-turn and go back. No apologies, nothing. Decided to pull the plug, return the keys and go to our normal rental place in Pleasanton. Gal tells me she will have the manager cancel it and I will not be charged. She said I would receive a call within a hour to confirm. SHOCKER, never got a call and to top it off I have TWO $536 pending charges on my Visa. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION.

Avis Car Rental - What the gas tank was at when I received my car

My Catch-22 with writing a review about this place is this is where I have to go to rent a car for…read morework (i.e., my company has a corporate rate). Staff is generally nice, but the cars are meh. Since this is a franchise location, they really do cut corners wherever they can. I recommend doing a walk around the vehicle before you leave. I usually sit in my car to adjust the mirrors and check the radio and climate control and sometimes find something else. Pay attention to the following (because I experienced it at one time): - Check the tires - Check to see if any indicator lights are on - If the gas tank is full. This is a pet peeve of mine because I ALWAYS get the car partially full and I end up returning the car completely FULL (more range then when I received it). Of course they tell you that you can return it at the same level, but when you're filling up the tank, how do you know when to stop it? Seriously, I should be getting cash back for all the times I filled up their tank. The cars are generally dirty. They put a little effort to clean the inside, but ignore the outside. The last car I had was completely dirty on the outside, that I had to: 1) Fill up the gas tank 2) Clean the windows twice because the bug crap wasn't coming out The other thing was my last car was from Florida. It was a fully loaded VW Tiguan which I would have enjoyed had it not been deodorized or fumigated. I swear, if I don't get COVID, I was feeling sick from the fumes and drove with the windows down.

All the bad reviews are true…read more We returned the car from Budget at this Avis/Budget location. I just got hit with an extra fee. No warning at the checkout. They also itemized a full service fee but I retuned the car with a full tank.
