I used to come here relatively frequently to sell my blood, my white cells and my soul. Staff has always been amazin. Check in after an appointment is quick. It's clean and everything is very professional. I'd continue selling my blood if they didn't start denying me because I didn't have enough white blood cells or something. Either way, I remembered making $450 or so in one session. But then again it was a 4-5 hr session as far as I remembered. It was extensive and takes a huge toll on your body. Annoying process to get screened. I wasted an hour driving to this place expecting my appointment to be honored, only to be turned away because of eligibility issues. Supposedly, they had tried to email me about this, but it didn't go through on their end, and did not attempt any other form of communication prior to my appointment time. Hint: if you make a cell phone number a requirement to sign up, perhaps you should try to call that number before someone wastes their time with this process? Good thing the eligibility form is a once in a lifetime opportunity, because I will not be returning. read more

I've been donating at LeukoLab for close to a year now and have done all 4 types of donations. I've always had pleasant experiences. For the WBC collections (regular and mobilized)- I appreciate that they try to put the return line in the lower arm so you move it. It's much more comfortable than other places I've gone to that put the lines in both arms as a standard and you have to remain completely still for 4 hours. They've always been very attentive during the collections, checking to make sure I'm comfortable and offering drinks and snacks throughout the process. Another difference I've noticed from other centers I've gone to is that they use lidocaine before inserting the huge needles. I didn't know I needed this but it's a super nice luxury! The heating pads are really nice too as I tend to get cold during collections. I've only done one bone marrow collection but I would definitely come back for more. It was a very fast appointment and I was only uncomfortable for about 1 day after. In my experience they've also tried to combine appointments so I can make less trips which I do appreciate. (i.e. Completing the physical of my upcoming mobilized collection on the day of my bone marrow collection). I don't donate for the compensation but it's a great bonus! They do compensate really well, much higher than similar places in my experience. They compensate via a Visa gift card but this doesn't bother me as I can transfer it right to my bank account and not have to worry about it after. I would definitely recommend! read more

This review has been a long time coming. I have been donating with Leuko Lab for about 2 years. I have done ONLY white blood cell donations during this time, and was never asked to do any others. When I had gone in for my most recent rescreen, around February 2021, there was an extremely rude RN who did not handle me directly but did nothing but talk down to her surrounding staff. At this same rescreen appointment, They also disqualified me from doing a mobilized white blood cell donation, on the fact that my maternal grandmother has lymphoma. This to me was odd, as I had been accepted every single other rescreen. I mentioned that I don't understand how I have always been accepted previously based on this fact still existing and now i am not; they had no answers for me and I let it go. Fast forward to my last white blood cell donation; February 26th. My nurse as the same aforementioned RN Jessica. Not only was she incredibly cold, rude and downright nasty, she appeared incompetent at her job. While she struggled to insert my first line, she made no conversation, no pleasantries. After she finally got my line in, she moved onto my return line. This line was set to be in my left hand, as it always is every donation I have had (with no issues!). After she completely blew my vein in my hand, she proceeded to poke me a total of 5 times in different spots. Not once did she ask for help before moving onto an elbow insertion, which is immobilizing due to the type of donation. At this moment, I asked her if I could place in my earbuds and my items set up so that I could be ready for the insertion. She told me "No, i can do those things for you. You will rip out your other line!" with an eyeroll. I felt so awkward that i just laid back and waited for her to finish. After she inserted my line, she attempted to put in my headphones and did nothing but hurt my ears in the process. When she refused to listen to my adjustment request, I moved my arm to fix my earbud as I was in pain. She then YELLED at me to stop moving before i ripped out her line. She then completely gave up on me and left, tending to the men on either side of me even though they clearly had their own nurses. She never once came to check on me, only when I requested a push of calcium. When she went to push my calcium, I explained that a full dose makes me nauseous and asked to go slow. She proceeded to roll her eyes, and act like I was the most inconveniencing thing in the world. I left my donation feeling awful, emotionally, and never wanted to return. And then my hand went numb hours after my donation, which is not normal. I grew concerned and called Leuko lab for help. RN Jessica was the one who answered and she was, again, not helpful. She first told me that she didn't know what i wanted her to do, told me I could eat some cheese and then berated me for not taking a full dose of calcium by saying "you're the one who didn't want the calcium so I don't know what you expect. should have taken it" At this point, I gave up. But I wasn't okay with how I was treated, it went against the morals and ethics of the nursing board completely not to mention her lack of help when poking me so many times which is highly unheard of in medical practice. I then called and spoke to their Clinical Supervisor, who was incredibly accommodating and assured me she would talk to Jessica and rectify the behavior. At this point, I thought everything was done. I then went in for a bone marrow donation on March 22nd. I had never done this type of donation before, but had a good idea of what to expect. I have a high pain tolerance, my mother is an RN, and I am familiar with the procedure on paper. The practitioner assisting me for this donation was wonderful, and I appreciate her walking me through everything. After I had been numbed in the area, she started the donation process and I began to feel an intense shooting pain through my entire body which is not normal for this type of donation. I walked her through my pain and she confirmed it was not normal and recommended that I only do my half donation already collected then stop. I listened, we stopped and I walked to get discharged. Then, RN Jessica who I had previously filed the complaint about, came out tell me I was blacklisted from this program and I was no longer allowed to donate here. She told me i could never rescreen and essentially I was banned. I was on the verge of tears and she could obviously care less. This feels to much like retaliation to me, so I called their head of customer service. Erin Douglas proceeded to tell me that due an "internal policy" i was no longer qualified. and essentially told me she could not do anything but refer me to her higher up. I am still waiting to hear from their Senior Director, now 11 days later. The fact that this medical facility is banning me because it was recommended i stop an unusually painful procedure by THEIR OWN PRACTITIONER is beyond me. read more

Let me state that I have been donating to Leuko Lab for a long time and can recall the great staff they used to have. Leuko lab used to have kind, caring phlebotomists with good bedside manner and a sense of humor. Last Monday, I showed up 15 minutes early for an appointment that I rescheduled to help them cover a cancellation. I got into the office and have to wait from 7:15 am to 7:40 am. That was a bit much, but I dealt with it. I was then paired with a nurse who was going to setup my white blood cell donation, however, she decided to prepare to fulfill my whole blood donation before she started my white blood cell donation, but then she started talking and complaining to another nurse about a mistake she supposedly made with the amount of donation tubes, but all the donation tubes were there and she passed with flying colors, so that was mean spirited and a complete waste of time. As time wasted away, a clot was forming in the tubing, which would eventually ruin my venous access. As a result, another nurse came over and switched to another vein, but she used the same tubing from before. In fact, she disconnected the clogged tubing and literally squeezed all the blood clots into a nearby trash receptacle. Now, that cannot be sterile procedure and sounds like a health violation. Eventually, because I moved my arm a inch or two the nurse kept telling me the donation machine kept failing as it was not getting enough pressure to process my blood, but I believed the real problem was the clogged tubing and the fact that both nurses most likely missed each venipuncture attempt. I've done these donations before at UCLA, and the American Red Cross with no such issues. Oh yeah, I now have two large bruises and was banned from any future donations from the most cold nurse I've met in some time. My arm is now quite sore and will have to take some time off from caregiving until I can work without discomfort. In my last donation in April, keep in mind that a more experienced veteran nurse performed my whole blood donation after my white blood cell donation. To no surprise, I had no bruises and my donation was a complete success. Interesting huh... I'm sorry to say that no nurse was willing to admit that a mistake was made in the overall procedure. Instead, the nurse I worked with blamed me. After this whole scene, I was escorted to the lobby, where I was compensated for my time by the always gracious and lovely front desk receptionist. The only other positive highlight of the whole morning was another female nurse, who appeared to be a new, orienting nurse to the Leuko team. I never got her name, She went out of her way to quietly and graciously apologize for what happened and wished that she could have helped out to avoid this kind of outcome. Finally, someone who displayed some empathy. She even ran to the reception area to give me back my iPhone that I forgot in haste, due to whole ridiculous morning. I should have thanked her more than I did, but I wanted to get out of that office. Whoever you are. You were kind, considerate and practiced excellent bedside manner. Leuko lab is quite fortunate to have her on staff. Hopefully, in time, Leuko lab can return back to service with a smile, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. Let's not forget they compensate their donors with gift cards, not a check or cash. As other reviewers have stated, I would look elsewhere. read more

I've been excited to come here to donate for a while, and finally got to for the first time yesterday! Went in for a white blood cell donation, and the visit was just as friendly and comfortable as the screening visit. During the donation, you get handwarmers, blankets, and a tablet w/ headphones to keep you occupied. Shoutout to everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting there so far! Candy, Sandy, and LaToya up front, and then Debbie, Marian, Lea Ann, Paula and Lola! Hope I didn't miss anyone. The snacks are lowkey great (Gardetto's, but they have a lot of kinds), especially right after donating. Unclear screening process = waste of time I wound up getting turned away from the screen process, due to having given blood recently. I had actually canceled a previous appointment based on this concern, but the person who reached out to me suggested I read the FAQ (https://www.allcells.com/donate-blood-tissue/about-us/). That indicated that just a "small sample" was taken at screening, so I thought I should be good. I followed up with the person on email that that alleviated my concerns, and we re-scheduled an appointment. After driving an hour round-trop for no reason, I requested they update the FAQ to state the limitations on screening (no blood donations within 8 weeks). LeukoLab declined, and referred me to a screen with a single line about blood donation constraints that I don't recall seeing, that was never repeated, and that do not appear in FAQ or any other contact points. Overall, I spent about 2 hours on this for no good. Not sure why I need to work so hard to donate; I expected a bit more help and understanding. I'll look for another agency to work with. read more

Last week I scheduled an appointment for pre-screening as I wanted to donate my whole blood. I arrived 15 mins early and filled the papers given by receptionist. At the time of pre-screening, they told me I must sign up for at least two plans. Donate: Whole Blood + White Cells or Donate: Whole Blood + Bone Marrow or Donate: White Cells + Bone Marrow or Go home (can't sign up for one plan like whole blood I wanted to do) They said they Don't TAKE Patients who don't want to sign up for two plans. So if you want to go just to donate blood, this is not a place for you. Thank you! read more

When I had my initial screening, the phlebotomist was friendly and inquisitive. The front staff was great. I made an appointment to donate while blood after I was approved. When I showed up to my appointment today the staff was still very friendly with the exception of the female phlebotomist, wearing the grey knit Northface jacket. I have donated blood, and bone marrow and have a "preferred arm" for blood donation. She did not care, lectured me on why she was scrubbing my other arm, bruised me terribly (my own mom and MIL are both in the medical profession and said my arm looked terrible) and refused to engage in small talk when I was feeling flushed and dizzy. I give blood and marrow because my grandmother died from acute lymphoma. It's cold enough during the wintertime without the cold behavior from a stranger, but I will never schedule an appointment when this person is working. read more

Disappointed. Got an hour into on-site screening to be denied due to a low vitamin D level draw from 2015 (7 years ago). Since 2015 my vitamin D has been normal and instead of taking a multivitamin daily I take one dosage of vitamin D/month. Without asking questions or discussing this the nurse told me I was denied. A nurse myself I felt this was unprofessional as they did not ask about the facts. Waste of time especially because this information was provided to them upon check-in. read more

I had a really great experience at LeukoLabs for my screening to make sure I could safely donate. Even before the appointment things went smoothly, with text reminders and a phone call to make sure that I understood everything and if I had any questions. When I checked in I checked in on a tablet using a stylus and it was clear they took Covid safety precautions seriously with lots of hand sanitizers everywhere, temperature checks, and provided masks. La Toya checked me in and she was fabulous, she had a great energy and made me feel welcome. When I had questions about the forms she was super helpful and explained things well. When I went in for the actual screening I had Sarah, who was also amazing. She was super cool and we chatted about a variety of things from my life, being Filipino, and of course the process of the screening. Sarah measured my weight, height, examined my blood vessels and hip bones, and drew a sample of blood. She was very good at explaining everything and walked me through everything (and what it meant) and didn't hesitate to answer any questions I had. Unfortunately I didn't quality for white blood cell donation, but I did qualify for whole blood donation and bone marrow donation. When taking my blood sample, my blood clotted super quickly and blood stopped coming out. Sarah handled it perfectly and explained to me that it was normal for your blood vessels to clot when they're pierced. She then made sure I was comfortable continuing and drew blood from my other arm instead. I then checked out and La Toya explained to me the next steps and gave me a free water bottle! They also have drinks and snacks available, but I didn't want any. 10/10 experience and I would encourage anyone to go to Leuko Labs! I recently turned 18, so I would particularly recommend it for other young people or college students in the area! read more
